watch the scythe usher me astray

They barely had enough time to wander back into the Dragon's Throat before the egg was stirring like mad. Being welcome in this desert place, they were safely escorted over the magical bridge by someone on the other side. Abraham's frantic calls had alerted a patroller to their presence, he was sure. He needed to get to the oasis before the egg hatched. He needed his siblings to witness what this glorious beauty was. Reginald had not been at Gwyneverre's hatching, only a stranger, but now the monochrome titan yearned for his wombmate to stand at his side.

Settled in at the oasis, Abraham waited. Gwyneverre carried the egg down to rest on the desert grasses, and she trilled with delight and moved around constantly, scuttling along around the egg. Delight, in bright and vibrant colors, flashes along the bond that was forming slowly as the cracks in the egg grew wider and wider. Abraham danced impatiently, tail flicking and ears pressing down into his neck. "C'mon, darling, c'moooon," he whispered, moving around in tight circles, staring down at the twitching egg. He could feel his pull towards the creature inside growing, burning in his mind and heart and melding to his already existing bond with Gwyneverre. It amazed the young colt the ability for two bonds to coexist with each other, but he welcomed the blessing and show of his strength and power with a glorious, burning smile.

After what seemed like ages the sun was beginning to dip low on the horizon, and Gwyn peeled back a piece of the egg shell. A tiny chirp from inside rang out, and Abraham caught his breath between his teeth. Peering forward, he urged Gwyn to peel off more of the shell. Obediently, with claws shaking from the excitement, Gwyneverre peeled away the egg until the babe crawled out. Bright, expressive eyes looked up at Abraham. They were a bright, reptilian green, and held wisdom far beyond the years of its small body. The scales that covered the beast were the most beautiful gold, as if she were dipped in the color of his father's eyes. The dimming light of the evening could not hide her raging beauty. The young dragon stretched her wings and yawned, looking over to the white. Gwyneverre clicked and motioned towards Abraham, nodding her larger head in encouragement. The golden tilted her head to the side some, but did as she was pressed to do so.

The hatchling jumped, suddenly, landing on Abraham's muzzle. Carefully her fingers grasped his forelock and she pulled herself up towards his twin horns. She balanced herself by grasping his base horn, and pressed her other scaley hand into the middle of his forehead, just below his spiraled horn. Closing her green eyes, and Abraham his bi-hued, the pair solidified the bond. He was older now, stronger and already bonded to one soul, therefore this time there was no pain as the heart and soul of the golden melded with his own. Sighing in delight, Abraham breathed out her name, "Brienne."

And you're locked inside my heart
And your melody's an art
And I won't let the terror in I'm stealing time
Through the eye of the needle

The small palomino raised her head and gazed towards the horizon. Through her left eye she could the sun setting. This was the mare’s favorite time of the day for a couple of reasons, the main ones being the beauty the sun left behind, coloring the sky and the surroundings in warm colors, contrasting the cold that settled inside of her. Secondly, it brought a relief from the heat. Even though the mare longed for warmth in her heart she preferred her skin to be cold. Often the mare wondered if the climate was the right one for her, it was definitely not what she was used to, and she wondered if she would ever get used to it. Ísfold hoped though, she liked Dragon’s Throat, and so far, she did not have a reason to leave.

I take a deep breath before I turn away from the sunset and begin to walk towards me usual sleeping spot. So far I have just been lurking around. I have seen a few herd members in the distance but not managed to build up my courage to head over and speak with them, when I consider it a rush of anxiety rushes through me, so I try to avoid it. A part of me knows I can’t go on like this forever, but I try to ignore it. I attempt another deep breath to relieve the constant tangle that is my heart, twisted and mutilated, weighing me down each day. I close my eyes for a second as I continue to walk forward, I can feel the sadness overwhelm me and wish to hurry to my spot. However, when I open my eyes I notice an odd sight.

A dark colored equine, sporting white front legs hovers over what looks like a rock, though as I focus on it better it appears to be an egg. I can’t tell though, my left eye can only see so much. Near the equine. No. A unicorn. Near the unicorn is a white colored creature. The texture of its body is odd, scale like. My previous thoughts have been pushed to the back of my mind momentarily as I examine this odd sight. Soon a golden like creature appears as well. I assume my guess was right, it was an egg. Usually I keep my thoughts to myself, and snuff out the flame of curiosity whenever it sparks in my mind. However now I feel it overpowering. I also wonder if my solitary has reached its maximum as I feel myself taking a cautious step towards the unicorn and its creatures.

I come to a halt about three meters away from the trio. I don’t know if I have been spotted but I am fairly certain of it. As my lips part I feel the shyness build up inside of me. I had not thought much about what I would say as I approached, I had been too fascinated with the creatures. I blink a few times before I manage to croak out in a weak voice. “Hello,” I say and feel myself cower a bit. From the distance I did not realize the size of the unicorn. I don’t feel threatened, but I feel quite out of place, and I wonder if I made a huge mistake. Perhaps they wanted to be left alone. It is however too late to turn around now. “My name is Ísfold, I wouldn't be surprised if you don’t know me, I tend to lay low …”, I don’t know anyone here except Rei and assume not many know who I am either. “I hope I am not intruding, I just couldn't help but come over, I have never seen anything like this before,” I managed to say as my gaze turns towards the scaled creatures.

Mother was never far behind and father had a knack for showing up when he was least expected, but that knowledge did not stop the young girl from venturing off on her own to explore her home. Well, on her own wasn't exactly true and she was reminded of that by the pinch of Gwaihir's talons as he hopped across her small back. "Oholat!" She griped at the bird, her dark ears falling back against her head. How did her mother tolerate the bird's constant movement? It was maddening and even more so when he continued to move after she told him to be still. If it weren't for the fact that he had some kind of connection with her mother the girl would have dumped the small bird off of her back and into the sand. But mother would know and mother would be upset and mother might send her to bed without dinner.

Without dinner. The very thought was enough to make alarm bells ring in the girl's head.

It was the voice of another mare that captured Mordecai's attention and made her look around to see who it was. Her head tilted as her gaze came to rest on two much larger individuals. She began to walk toward them and as she did she could feel Gwaihir pinching her. "Nakho!" She yelled at the bird, but he only continued to pinch her harder the closer she moved until, finally, she took off at a gallop and succesfully dislodged the bird. Sand flew beneath her tiny hooves and she slowed after only a few seconds, settling for a bouncy trot that would keep Gwaihir from perching again. The trot, however, did not last long and she soon found herself standing, staring at a horned stallion and a golden thing stuck to his face.

"Fini hazi?" She breathed as she stared at it. Gwaihir squawked as he caught up with Mordecai, his wings beating furiously at her head for what she had done.

Gwyneverre alerted him to the presence of the others as they approached, for the young stallion was too enraptured by the bonding process to notice or care of other souls. The golden hatchling yawned and her already dangerous teeth glittered in the light. She was a beautiful specimen, just as Gwyneverre was, and what Abraham felt to have her--to have both of them--was beyond words. There was nothing that could compare to the strength these dragons brought him in his soul and in his body. The three of them would be known throughout the world. Abraham the Leviathan and his dragons, Gwyneverre the Demolisher and Brienne...well, she was still too young to have a title, but one would come in time. Titles for queens came easily enough, and Gwyneverre's had come within her first seasons of life.

The golden crawled up towards Abraham's poll and nested down into his forelock. Small, purring trills left her chest vibrating against his head, and he knew she was content. Turning his attention to the newcomers, the massive boy listened as they spoke to him. The first, a thick but short lass, seemed to be curious about his dragons. Gwyn flapped her wings and landed on Abraham's crest, one wing up as she clung to her bonded's mane, protecting the hatchling princess. She glared at the mare with her fiery eyes, scaled lips lifting some to expose a lethal set of fangs. "Forgive her," the dark boy started, tail giving a simple flick, "she is protective of her sister. They are dragons, Gwyneverre is the white and Brienne is the gold." He turned his eyes to look at the young pegasus, and his ears flicked with curiosity. She did not speak the common Helovian tongue, it seemed. Hmm. "What're you doing?"
