"Fight for your values and fight for your friends."

His first of many little voyages from the side of Sohalia was, so far, utterly uneventful, and the boy could not be happier with it.

Stumbling across the sands the child paid the sun no mind; he had the luck of his birth being within early autumn, as the sun's heat wavered before the coolness of winter. Under the sun's touch he remained as a normal child, the wraith-like form locked away by the light. Dark legs carried a pale body across the sand, his small wings hanging limp at his sides, the chick-fluff ruffling in the gentle breeze that gusted across the dunes.

He took in his surroundings in wonder, pausing at the crest of a dune to gaze at the world around him. The sun was low, having just risen from it's slumber 'ere the boy set out from his dam's side. The bright light hurt his developing eyes, so he avoided looking at the sun and instead cast his gaze down to the ground.

It was there he saw it; a shell gleaming brilliant white, half-buried in the sand stirred by the wind. Hawke dropped his head, sniffing at the strange object before he lightly tapped the surface with the tip of a soft hoof. To his surprise and delight, something tapped back, and the boy sprang away from the object with a sharp whinny, tossing his head before staring intently at it, his attention captured completely.

Once more he approached, tapping the shell gingerly and laughing when something tapped back. Little to the boy's knowledge what he considered a game was in fact a struggle for life. The creature within the shell could not breathe, the sand blocking most of the porous holes in it's shell, cutting off oxygen. Yet with each tap from the colt, the shell weakened, until the babe within surged, using the remainder of it's energy to smash open the shell. It was free.

Hawke stared, dumbfounded as a fat, almost-naked thing rolled out of the object in an explosion of shards, his hoof raised to tap upon the shell surface that no longer existed. The blob raised what could only be it's head, a peep coming from it that stirred something in the boy's heart, something borderline painful. Gingerly the child set his foot down, careful not to squish the pink thing. Eyes the color of night met those of the sea, and it was as if the earth fell out from under Hawke's feet.

He could feel the child within his own infantile mind, the two newborns reaching for each other through a bond already solid as iron, stronger even than that of the boy and his dam, stronger even than that between his twin and himself. Hawke fell to his knees, then his belly, laying his head down on the earth, feeling the other child's fluff tickle his muzzle. The pair merely stared at each other, no words spoken for the elder was not capable of eloquent words apt enough to describe what was going on, the younger not capable of it at all, and the silence did not need to be broken by petty sounds that would shatter the wonder flowing between them.

Ignoring the world around them, the colt and the owl merely watched each other, exploring each other's strange yet familiar minds with all the sweet clumsiness of childhood.

"Speech."

Aelin

The sand rolled over her hooves as she trailed after her twin. He had wondered off and Aelin wanted to know just what on earth he was up to. Such a curious nature in one so little, she delighted in the way the world reacted to her, not fully understanding what she was blessed with or why. Yet magic ran through her veins stronger than most that walked over Helovia's lands...one day she would know this. Until then the young filly was content with trailing after her adventurous brother, excited to join him in any trouble that he ended up causing.

The sun beat down on her dun back, yet it was a nice enough day. The heat was not overwhelming and there was more than enough shade to retreat into should she feel herself getting tired. Wing tucked tightly against her side, the filly moved over the land slowly, lost in her own world. Coming across a stone the girl giggled before gently nudging it with the tip of her hoof, bending down she inspected it closer. Covered in sand and warm from the sun it was just sitting there. Odd. Moving past it she finally spied her brother in the distance, playing with what seemed to be a bigger and shinier stone. Frowning the girl quickly made her way over to her twin, watching from behind how he gently tapped the surface of the rock with delight. After a moment the egg tapped back. They to and fro'd with the little game until a frightful creature spilled out on to the desert sands. It's ugly pink skin rested against the beautiful orange and yellows.

Her brother however seemed completely delighted by the thing creature and lay down and gazing in front of it like he would love it forever. As if it could ever replace her! Finally she came to stand over him staring at her brother's new toy, her head tilted to the side with a coy smile on her lips. Bending down she peered at the creature closer, her dual coloured eyes alight with their normal curiosity. Sure it wasn't the prettiest thing, but if her brother was happy with it then she wanted to know more about it. Deciding she didn't like to speak at all, she simply bent over her brother and gathered up a small mouthful of his mane and tugged. She released him quickly, stumbling backwards and falling on her rump with a frustrated expression to top it all off. Huffing in annoyance at her unstable legs the filly decides to lay down next to her brother and study his ugly new toy more closely. "What...it?" Her mouth struggled to speak the unfamiliar words, still brand new to the world and mostly clueless about the dialect. She stumbled over each word, face painted in concentration.

The longer she remained on the ground the more the world around them began to react to her. They were in their own little private bubble, the world becoming more vibrant and colourful as she lay gazing at her brother with complete love in her eyes. He would be hers forever.

Hawke

"Fight for your values and fight for your friends."

The boy did not notice as the world began to sharpen, grow more vivid at his twin's approach, too absorbed in the chick before him. However he was forced out of the meditation by something tugging on his mane, and his tiny wings flailed out, fanning the air as the force pulled him onto his side, even as his sister fell onto her rump.

A gummy grin broke out on Hawke's face, and he nickered to his sister-dearest, and the boy quickly sat up to make room for Aelin as she laid beside him. He leaned against her, wing to wing and shoulder to shoulder. Her words, broken and stuttering, take him a moment to understand, and even then he is quiet, mulling over the two short words as if she had spouted an entire story.

What was the little pink thing in front of him? He didn't have an answer; never had he seen something like this, so he could not understand it, it was beyond his limited comprehension. So the boy merely shrugged, knowing that would answer his twin's question far better than anything he could piece together and say. Hawke turned and draped his head across Aelin's withers, watching as the newborn creature shuffled over, sand clinging to it's sticky skin, it's chirping pitiful.

So the young prince lifted his head and used a long leg to gently roll the babe closer, cleaning off the child as Sohalia had done him and Aelin. He didn't know if he was doing what he was supposed to, and once he got the chick cleaned he had to turn his head away from Aelin and the newborn, spitting furiously to get the gritty sand and yucky whatever-it-was off his tongue, face wrinkling in disgust.

Maybe that wasn't the wisest idea.

He rubbed his mouth against his leg, gumming at the air, grimacing at the taste. Yuck yeah bad idea. But at least the chick was happy, nestled between Hawke's left leg and Aelin's right, at the crook where their shoulders met. It was out of the wind and warm, and the boy smiled as he felt the babe's contentment as his own. So he returned to draping his head and neck over Aelin's shoulders, letting out a soft sigh.

"Happy." It was all that needed to be said. He was happy with the little being that somehow was him-yet-not-him, happy with his twin by his side, happy with the world being so comfortable to live in.

Happy was perfect.

SOHALIA

The Transcended was not afraid to allow her children to wander here, for they would be safer in the Dragon's Throat than they would anywhere else. Despite her memory of Ivezho leaving the Throat in order to find her and the guilt associated with it, the dove was confident upon her return that the patrols would turn her children back long before they reached the edges of the desert. And, after all, there was only one way in or out now, and neither Hawke nor Aelin were yet capable of flight.

The dove had found her newest twins to be particularly enjoyable. No longer was she under the stress of maintaining the Dragon's Throat, nor was she worried that their father, like her first lover, would disappear. He had sworn himself to her, that night on the boat, and though a niggling doubt tickled at the back of her mind, she reminded herself that he had yet to willingly fail her once his word had been given. In any case, she found that the time she had spent with the twins had been uneventful and particularly joyful, sunning herself as she watched their antics in the Orangemoon sun. This, she was sure, was what motherhood was supposed to be like. She only wished she had figured it out sooner, and without the line of successive failures that continued to haunt her.

She allowed the children their distance, though they had not yet gotten quite out of her sight. They were never gone for long, nor did they wander very far as yet. Or, that is, they had not wandered very far until today. She had watched them draw off into the distance, sighing with regret as she was forced to leave behind the particularly green patch of grass she had found in the oasis. Still, she was happy for the exercise as she trotted easily across the desert sands, her petite form perfect for the task that larger equines hated. The sand never sucked her in as it did for those more sturdy than she; indeed, it caressed the soles of her hooves lovingly, allowing her to spring lightly forward even at the slowest of paces.

The angel came upon the pair as then knelt over something on the ground, completely entranced. She noted Hawke's expression of complete disgust and frowned, concerned that they might have found something unhealthy, or even poisonous to eat. "What in the world was in your -" she began sharply, halting suddenly beside the colt with concern written across her face.

And then she saw the owl.

"Where did you find the owl?" she asked, worried now for a different reason. Had they found an egg? Taken it from its nest and, therefore, its mother? Or would the little bird be to one of the twins as Astraeus was to her?

Aelin

At the gummy grin that broke out across her twin's face, Alein also felt herself smirking back at the pale boy. Quickly her twin made room for her, early she filled the space her offered. As his warmth was added to her own, she felt her smirk slip into a much happier smile. Not caring that he does not immediately answer her, the dun girl is content to simply sit with her brother and watch him interact with the new dumb toy. She would always be his favourite companion.

Feeling his shrug, Aelin sighed and simply stared at the the ugly pink thing. Clearly it was here to be with her brother, after all he had found it first. There forth Aelin would make sure that no one would come along and try to steal it. She would sort them out real nice! Her papa was pretty scary after all. After a moment her brother turns and drops himself across her withers, the weight of him is both comforting and familiar. Contently they stay together relaxing on the desert's sands, listening to the rather pathetic chirping from the bird.

After a moment her twin moves, orbs watch is long leg extend to roll the ugly thing closer to him. Suddenly he licks the new toy. Disgust paints Aelin's face as she watches him. "EWWWWWW!" Shuddering as he turns his head away and begins to spit out the sand...it is all too much for Aelin. it begins as a few giggles before the hysterical laughter falls from her lips. Flopping to the ground dramatically the young girl laughs herself silly at her twin. Of course if anyone else ever treated Hawke this poorly she would set her father and mother on them. However it was a sister's right to be mean to her brothers.

Finally she sat back up as Hawke was finishing rubbing his mouth against his leg. That had been the silliest thing that she had ever seen! The chick was sitting comfortably between their legs. It would be safe between them, Aelin would help her brother look after the chick...even if it was ugly.Once again Hawke embraced her and the filly sighed happily along with them. Finally her twin responded with a single word. 'Happy'.

Happy she was.

"MUMMA!" Aelin leapt up and rushed over to the white dove, utter delight painted across her tiny face. Not paying much attention to the mare's first words The Dreamwalker simply busied herself with Soh's legs, dancing around them. It wasn't until she inquired about an owl that the young filly stopped at stared at Hawke's new toy. So...it was an owl. What a silly name for some dumb toy. "Hawke it his. Mumma, where mine?" If Hawke was going to get something then surely her mother would also find something for her! Giggling she pranced forward to offer Hawke's cheek a huge lick.

"Me next! Me next!" Thrilled Aelin, inviting Hawke to play chase-and-lick with her.
