Is this...?

Coris lifted his head. His amber eyes flicked through the narrow spread of trees, the dark pillars reaching up towards the sky (lofty ambitions, for a tree.) Leaves shift and tumble in the breeze. Something about their queer patterns reminded him of blood's spray against snow, the drop of crimson from broken bones... eyes moved on, ears flickered caustically, nostrils flexed wide in a healthy sense of caution. Once, in these very forests, he had chased a bear off. There was nothing saying—despite the apparent peace—that danger wasn't out there.

Brittle orange and brown crackled in unhappy harmony to his hooves' tattoo, crunching and snapping beneath his body's weight. Shafts of sunlight slid through the dense canopy. The silence was lofty, and intimate, and yet so loud it hurt his ears.

Peace. He had been full of it over the last few years—aching quiet and solitude disturbed only by Venati's narrative.

The peace he didn't mind, not much. It had given him time to work on his projects, to spear and cut and kill, to watch the blood flower out over white snow; it had given him time to think over the Sun God's words, and what seemed to be his disappearance. Sometimes, he had wondered if he should leave Helovia, go wandering in search of his long-lost home—but those thoughts tended to come to a quick halt when he couldn't find his way out of the damned mountains. And there was no guarantee the gods were dead, either.

He exhaled bitterly.
At least you have this. Venati crooned, as her blood-soaked claws tightened on his withers. Despite himself, his amber eyes flickered back towards their most recent kill. It had been his falcon's kill this time around—a flash of hooked talons and snapping wings, and bam a dead hare.

True.
It would provide a decent pelt, once they were done. Admittedly, the kill had been a little messy for Venati—typically she was less clumsy—but it would serve as... something. He hadn't decided what yet, but then, there was time.

There was always time.

OOC: Open to anyone! :D Preferably World's Edge or Aurora Basin.
Also the rabbit they killed are slung over his withers (his falcon companion is holding it down in place.)

I hold you in like a deep breath

Recruiting. He supposed it was most certainly his job, now.

King.

King Torleik.

It was jarring, to go from a simple general to king in the span of less than a day, it seemed. That wasn't true, really - the invasion had been planned, executed and successful - then he'd become king. It was still strange to think. A fire burned in his breast, bitter and blue, wondering what his father would have thought of him now; wondering what Bolverik would think - and Ulrik?

The rabicano frowned. He would need to speak to both. They were family and he couldn't leave them in the dark. Maybe that was really why he'd come to the Threshold, to use it as an excuse to go home.

Not home. Not really. Helovia could never quite be home no matter what herd he was a part of. The Bloodskald shook his head. So many thoughts, not enough time to consider them all. Irelyn hooted softly, informing him someone was near and that they, too, seemed to have an avian companion. Full avian, at least. Curious and seeking to begin his necessary duties right away, the newly christened King of the World's Edge approached.

"Ho, traveler," Torleik called warmly to the figure he saw ambling along. "Where in Helovia do you call home?" He had learned some time ago that just because someone was alone in the Threshold didn't mean they were without a herd already. If this was one of those times, perhaps he could make a new friend, or make a good impression for the Edge.

He could be adaptable.
