SACRE
I wanna be somewhere away from this place
Yeah, somewhere just a little closer to grace

They were back! Albeit by rather odd means, but Sacre was grateful of the help that Diviner Maren and her boat graciously offered him. She made a fine sailor. The rise of canyons and red waste spread out before their feet with the weather a little hotter than most places, but nothing like the blistering of Tallsun.

When the boat had finally made it to the other side and his cloven hooves had touched down on dry land, he had taken a while to locate his old bridge key and, once it had been found, he had looked rather lost for the rest of the time. Sacre hadn't been gone for terribly long, but long enough that he wanted to visit everywhere at once and check up on everyone. Was Tandavi still well and enjoying her Leadership? Did Sikeax still roam the northern mountains by herself? How many more new faces were there like Maren? He was impatient and itched to be everywhere at once. He didn't know if his mantel of crafter was still his role, but he took it as such until instructed otherwise, there was no point lingering around doing nothing. The quicker he picked up the pieces here the quicker things would fall back into place. At least, that was the plan.

Curious and confident in himself, Sacre set about searching for Cera, the lead Forger since last he was here. If there were jobs that needed doing it was best he see to them, he had a lot of catching up to do and he hadn’t really had the time to help the Forger before he left on his mission. It was time to make it up to the Golden Prince.

On his travels, however, he couldn’t help but dawdle a little here and there letting his vulpine friends play in the tufts of grass that had appeared when they had neared the oasis. This was the first time Ríona was seeing the Dragons Throat and she bounded wildly across the desert land, closely following Inari’s experienced lead. Sacre lingered by the oasis and reached back to his tail, pulling the red arrow from it and sticking it into the ground in front of him. For a while he stood there contemplating it, thinking of Roux and his family, his mother. He had been too late to save mother, even if he had warning, he would never have made it. What use was this arrow if he couldn’t even make it to Roux in time to save him? If his twin wasn’t nearby then the item was nothing more than a handy weapon at best or a colourful trinket most days.

A sigh passed through his lips as he cast his gaze to the blue sky of the afternoon that housed white fluffy clouds. He knew hopeless thoughts like this did him no good and, in the end, he had to trust that Roux was okay and was strong enough on his own. Still, it didn’t stop him worrying.

❈ when you go home everything looks different ❈
Was this some sick game? She had been here for some time and other than meeting Einarr at the border she had yet to run across anyone. There had to be some sort of conspiracy out. Everyone had to be in the skies, floating around and laughing at her. The mare with the hole in her wing. The mare who was a broken toy. Ardere was far more interested in the land than she had expected - and this fire stag had just appeared, randomly following her. A guiding light in the night, and a gentle reminder she wasn't alone during the day.

Today, she moved back toward the Oasis. You see, her wings were finally outstretched - bloody (yet dried) bandage flapping in the wound in graceful swirls as she moved. If no one was around to see the hole then she might as well not put more stress on her muscles then was necessary. But, on the horizon, as she pulled in closer to the water was a dark figure. It appeared to lack wings, though that had no effect on whether or not she would yank her wings back to her side.

Awkwardly, she tightened her wings up against her barrel before arriving at the edge of the Oasis, eyes lingering upon the arrow stabbed into the ground and the unicorn who was beside it. Two young wolf-like creatures bounded along around him. Meanwhile, Ardere shot straight toward the water - diving underneath and then coming out to spray water toward Laedere. A game for the dolphin, a nuisance to the pegasus. Shaking it off immediately, she snorts at her companion before turning toward the dark unicorn and offering an apology. "Mine sincerest regrets, it shan't be my desire to soak ye…" she says, ducking her head in respect.

She was unsure as to the complete customs here, but until told otherwise she would assume mares were subordinate. She would assume respect went to every male, and she would keep her head low till she could find the purpose they wished for her to serve.

SACRE
I wanna be somewhere away from this place
Yeah, somewhere just a little closer to grace

It wasn’t long until his mind was captured by something else other than his worries about his dispersed family. The distraction came from a mare, a small one at that, who sported bandages that caused concern to cross the colt’s face on impulse. However, on closer inspection he noticed the blood was dry and her face wasn’t one contorted like someone in pain. He thought her saw her wing, on the other hand, like it had been ravaged and torn. Yet, she had put it away too fast for him to confirm his glance. On the other hand, the porcelain and mint stretched prettily over her body, like spring in winter, and culminated in a pair of intriguing pink eyes. He wondered why she still carried bandages around her body; it was almost like she was being held together by them, but not quite. His eyes didn’t linger on her approach too long, however, as there was a dolphin. Yes, a dolphin in the desert. Sacre drew in a sharp gasp and watched it in astonishment as it literally flew into the water, splashing them with its buoyant impact. The water sprayed against his coat and with great joy Sacre laughed at both its playfulness and the fact there was a dolphin and it glowed!

The colt almost didn’t hear the apology presented to him in strange sounding words by the mare with blushing eyes. He dragged his attention away from the playful leviathan and shook his head with a boyish grin "don’t apologize! A bit of water never hurts, especially out here" he laughed in reply. Curious, his gaze lingered back and forth between the dolphin and the mare inquisitively, a fiery stag also hovered near her much like his own fox of flame. Was this the mischief of the Sun God? It had only appeared when he had stepped back into Throat. Though Sacre had laughed at the time, amused that it had taken the form of a fox, apparently he was put on this earth to be surrounded by those under the species vulpine.

As always, Sacre had a great many questions even within a couple of minutes of meeting these two. Yet, age-old wisdom had taught him that most preferred introductions first before firing into interrogation. "Nice to meet you, I’m Sacre and this is Inari" he nodded to the red fox "and Ríona" lastly nodding to the kitsune. "Who are you? I’m sorry, I’ve been away for a season and already they’re faces I don’t recognize" he didn’t really know why he was apologizing; it just seemed right to do so. "And your friend? I’ve never seen a dolphin out of the ocean…" his voice trailed off in wonder and he almost trembled in awe and an odd kind of excitement. The kind that makes your heart flutter when you see something new and magical for the first time.

Meanwhile, his two bonded foxes were dithering on the edge of the pool watching the glowing leviathan excitedly and enjoying the spray it spouted.

xD I was listening to the song and thought it fit a Lae thread ha

He was laughing. He was laughing even though he had just been sprayed by water. She stuttered out her apology - quiet as it reached the young one before her. He seems to have to pull himself away from watching Ardere, though, to actually hear her. There is a boyish grin that lingers not only upon his maw, but into his eyes as well. He says that a bit of water doesn't hurt, especially in the Throat before his gaze shifts back and forth between her and her dolphin. She shudders just a tad, body shifting uncertainly.

He spewed almost instantly into a torrent of speech. He offered his name, and that of his non-fiery companions before beginning to inquire as to who she was. Audits perked forward, eyes flickering back between him and each of his companions. Aye, she never quite met his gaze though. Eyes would linger just below his. And, it was only when he trailed off that she allowed herself to speak. "Mineself tis dawned Laedere," a gentle bob down toward her dolphin, "And she tis dawned Ardere." She sways, ever so slightly - tail swishing across the sand before she speaks again. "Tis fine if ye did not recognize mine figure. I only conjoined with thine Throat but a fortnight ago," she tries to explain, eyes lingering upon the ground before she lowers in a bow. The tufts of her wings stretch out just a tag - not enough to show the gaping hole in her wing, but enough to add more width to her frame. Her bandage shifted, lingering upon the ground even more before billowing back out behind her. "Tis mine honour to meet ye's acquaintance," she finishes with before Ardere began her games again. Aye, the dolphin was amused with the two foxes upon the border of the water. In fact, she was so amused that she would even occasionally float out of the water and create a small rain shower over them with clicks of joy escaping her maw.

"Ardere tis be a gift from thine God of Earth. Mineself tis not sure what exactly to call her species," Laedere finally explained, straightening up and allowing her gaze to fall upon her companion. Aye, either way, she was grateful for her companion (regardless of the lack of manners and personal space the young one brought with her).

Ivezho
He was the closest thing to a hermit one could get.

Ivezho had been born on these sands, he had roamed them for years, and yet, he had very few friendships to show for it. Sure, he had a family here, but did he really know any of them?
No.

The youth sighed. It wasn't that he was awkward or shy - not on purpose anyway. He just didn't seek out adventure like his siblings, he wasn't entirely fussed on whether he stayed in the Throat forever or whether he was sent away (though he would rather stay, certainly!).

He just… didn't know what he wanted to do. He was at the cusp of manhood, the point in time where he would no longer be considered a colt and instead be seen as a stallion grown - not yet, but soon. The time was approaching where he would not be able to linger in the Throat a mere citizen, but he would need to choose a task, a walk of life that would help the herd more than simply being one of the masses.

He looked to the figure of his father in his memories - the mighty warrior, the loyal protector, the Ascended, chosen one of the Gods. He knew he could ask his father for some time to together, but Leader rarely had time to give careers counselling to their sons - at least, Ivezho felt that way.

With his lean, lanky yet athletic body, he was a natural warrior. With wings that cut through the air with ease and a reasonably intelligent crown upon his nape, Ivezho could do just about anything if he put his mind to it - he just couldn't decide what to put his mind to.

So he wandered, and procrastinated the decision some more, exploring his home and decidedly not ignoring any groups of others nearby. When he saw a gathering of winged-mare and horned-steed ahead, he called out a friendly greeting, a rumbling whicker, before approaching them with a kind smile upon his lips and wonder in his eyes. They had companions - he knew of companions, for his father had two, but he had never seen the likes of these before.

Having heard the tail-end of the mare's speech, Ivezho watched the dolphin play in the waters of the oasis with a mischievous glint behind his eye - oh, what fun would it be?! And then the other, with his foxes - it was easy for him to recognise that he was a bit jealous, and yet, not in a spiteful, or envious way. He simply wanted to know what it felt like, to have one's soul so touched by another's that you were twined for life - he wondered if he would ever get to feel that.

"Hello," he voiced softly as he neared them, expression soft as his wings shuffled at his sides. With a passing glance he noticed the bloody bandages upon the mare's wings, but refrained from saying anything for now, lest he upset her - there was no scent of fresh blood, only the dried on the bandage, and so he assumed the rags were remains of an old hurt. "I'm Ivezho, who're you?" The question was directed at both of them, and he hoped they would answer.

"Your friends are awesome." He added, smiling as he watched the antics of the companions around him.

SACRE
I wanna be somewhere away from this place
Yeah, somewhere just a little closer to grace

She seemed different than he. In contrast to his buyout youth that was plastered all over his expression, she looked more reserved and quiet. Like a tender fawn that had just stepped into a whole new world. Was she just shy? Sacre instinctively kept up his warm smile in attempts to make her feel more welcome or, at least, more like she could meet his gaze. He knew by now that there were some who lived in these lands with scars far deeper than any of his own and he also knew that enquiring too much about them was not always the best idea. Even though his inquisitive mind often wanted to prod and poke away until he peeled back the messy plot behind the healing skin. He couldn’t, he wouldn’t, he had only just met her and questions pertaining to pasts long gone were off the topic list… well, until he knew her well enough to bump shoulders with friendly ease. At least, these were the boundaries Sacre had set for his own curious mind. Still, the questions ran rampant in his mind; ”Why do you shy away from me? Were you hurt once? Does it still hurt? Can I help you?”

Laedere and Ardere, what a poetic pair.

He nodded once to her introductions, his bright young gaze still trying to find hers "the honour is mine Laedere" he lavished in bubbly tones playing on the words she had just offered him. His eyes linger, however, to the bandage that draped onto the floor and the old blood that clung on to the fabric like a mutinous memory. She spoke to him in an accented tongue he had never heard before and bore a mark around her eyes that was unfamiliar. He wondered how many stories were behind each of these intricacies she bore.

Realizing it was still in front of him, Sacre picked the red arrow up from the ground and turned to slot it into his mane instead. It would do for now, until he could catch the attention of his easily distracted foxes to tie it back into his tail and secure it once again. It hung loosely in his mane, the arrow that would glow ominously should harm come to his twin brother and Sacre wished everyday that the red weapon would remain dull, lifeless. "Amazing! A friend as a gift… You must have impressed the old man" he exclaimed. Sacre hadn’t seen the earthly Grandad many times, though Gods were always awe like in some strange devout way that made it hard for one to forget about them. What did she do for the Lord to trust her with such a unique friend like Ardere?

Before he could ask, there was another voice added to the mix and Sacre turned his attention to a colt not all that much younger than himself. He was an eye-catching roan with barring across his legs, a pair of wings sprouted from his sides and a long snip curved up from his nose. "Hey Ivezho, I’m Sacre" he responded with great friendliness, happy to be finally back and around family. Even if he didn’t recognize the faces, Sacre had been in the desert land long enough to know the family ethos and he lived every moment. He had enough worries; if he worried anymore his youth would wither and disappear without him even knowing. "Are you new around here as well?" He inquired gently, wondering if he too had recently joined along with Laedere.

Afterwards, the crafter smiled at the boy’s comment and spared a glance for his two vulpine comrades who were still playing with Ardere. Trying their best to dodge the water she spouted at them before dipping their paws in to attack back in playful gestures. "Troublesome too" he nodded and feigned a tired expression for a moment before laughing.

Lastly, he considered his two new friends, offering them both a quick glance with questions rising to his lips "has the Throat been peaceful? I’ve only just returned, though it still looks the same" he looked around fondly. Memories were slowly building up for him here, happy ones surrounded by good horses and fun friendships. Though he paused a moment, almost like an after thought and swung his gaze to the fire fox beside him. "These are new" he commented, looking at the flaming animal and wondering what mischief their Sun Lord had been up to.

❈ when you go home everything looks different ❈
She gently moved her frame to ease her tired muscles. Aye, she had been walking a lot - moving far in search of all the knowledge she could find about this new home, this new history to learn about. Sacre gave a gentle nod in response to her introductions - to the names which played off of each other so similarly that they were almost one. It hadn't been intentional, but it had still happened.

The young stag seemed to shift, grabbing the arrow from the ground and tucking it into his mane. Aye, it grabbed Ardere's attention for but a moment, until the foxes brought her back to the game. Yes, the game was definitely more interesting. Finally, something not nearly as serious as Laedere - the mare always trying to keep the young companion mannerly and polite when all the Leviathan wanted was to play! Laedere explained how she garnered Ardere and the colt seemed so amazed. "Hath such precedent not occurred before? Mineself twas entrusted with an egg, so twas a tree-mare by thine name of Fig. Tis happened just before thine floods swallowed thine lands…" she tried to explain, pausing for a second, "Mine egg hatched as Ardere…" She shrugged, still uncertain as how amazing this entire feat was.

Ah, but it didn't matter, because as soon as she finished speaking another had appeared. Another colt - with wings. She shudders a little eyes flickering to meet his gaze for just a second before falling down. Males always received more respect in her lands - regardless of her being an elder. It was the men who punished the sons, never the mothers. She gives a gentle bow, arching out the fronts of her wings but keeping her hole hidden. The bandage still billowed out a little in the wind, dry blood noticeable (especially against the sand). "Mineself tis Laedere. An honour to meet ye, Ivezho," she says - voice quite and polite as Sacre asked if the colt was also new around here.

There is a laugh in the air as Sacre speaks of the companions, another laugh filtering into the air. He asks if the Throat has been peaceful, saying that it looked the same before making note of the new fire animals near them. "Mineself believes there to have been peace. Thine Throat hath no part of thee invasion upon thine Hidden Falls - which is where mineself used to hail from," Her eyes linger between the two - never quite meeting their gaze while Ardere continued to try and entertain the other companions.
