d'Artagnan the Nightshade

Today the Nightshade begrudgingly left the confines of his caves and forced his pace into a gentle jog, with Aramis padding alongside him. The sun had risen, but it was still early morning and the signs of another blizzard coated the floor, making the more open areas covered in drifts of snow. All in all, it was a crisp winters morning and d’Artagnan had a job to complete.

By the time he had reached the area outside the pool of water, which never froze despite the sub zero temperatures, he had warmed himself up somewhat. How long had it been since he had last sparred? The seasons were stacking into scary numbers as he thought back to the failed Throat invasion and his preference to mulching around doing other things other than fighting after. He knew he should have kept up his practise, but other things had occupied his mind and sparring wasn’t one of them. Now, with his mind slowly clearing and his old self-starting to resurface after the dark events of the last year, the General stepped into the fighting ring once again to hone and practise a skill he had once been quite skilled at.

It was to start with an old friend, a family member who hailed from his same homeland and comrade for many years. d’Artagnan wasn’t fond of many of his family back home, but Déodat was one of the few he had got along with. He wondered if his cousin would momentarily stop furthering his bloodline and stop for a moment to engage him in combat. It was time they had a battle of old and danced the way they did in the Land of Clans. "Déodat! Meet me in battle" he challenged across the Basin, seeking out the ruby horned soldier and summoning him to come forth and attack.

In the distance, a cloud that looked full of snow lingered over the mountains, threatening to repaint the ground in white once again. At the red’s side was Aramis, who stood ready, the markings on his coat beginning to glow faintly as his tail whipped from side to side in anticipation and eagerness to fight alongside his friend once again. They had been found in battle; the shade fending off a boggart to claim the hellion dog and it was in battle that they continued their allegiance.

The pair waited for the white marked cousin.
