Elsa,
Feel lucky for what you have, when you have it. Happily ever after doesn’t mean happy forever.

Winter's grasp had fully engulfed the Edge. A covering of snow blanketed the ground, and turned the land into monochromatic colors. Oddly enough, it felt much different now. The absence of her family (if they even wanted that) left an odd hole. She felt free, like when she had first arrived, yet, completely different. The stitching of heart had been torn so many times that it just seemed to be held together with duct tape, so it was becoming easier to just undo it all and re-shape it into the life she needed. The parts she didn't want hurt, she could just bury deep within, and no one could touch it again. That's where her pain lay, and if she tried, she could suffocate it beneath everything else. Sure, it will always ache, but it was easier to forget.

So, she lurks, as usual. It was a lot easier to hide in the winter, since she tended to look like nothing more than a ghost against the pale background. No one here knew her, or sought her out. A military leader with no army was nothing more than a mere soldier herself. Expendable, small, and used when needed. A toy would be a good comparison to her life. Used when wanted, discarded when they were done. Thus, Elsa grew used to life in a box. Within its confines she was safe, nothing could hurt her, and she had no fear of being lost.

But life was no fun that way. There was no adventure, no grand ceremonies, nothing. It was stale air, boring in the basic sense. So this is what square one felt like again. She had nothing to do. So she made her way to the cool, broken glass wall, and pressed herself up against it. Sometimes, even inanimate objects seemed to have more love than animated ones. Better yet, they didn't pass judgement.

It had been a few days since the pale vixen had found home in the Edge. Thankful to have food in her stomach and a place of refuge to keep her mind at ease was the most refreshing instance the mare had encountered in the last few years of wandering. She often didn’t sleep well, but she did try to keep busy with different tasks to keep her mind from remembering her haunting nightmares. From what the mare had seen from the meeting, she was quite different than the others. However, she also felt like she was older and potentially learned and thrived on her past experiences. Perhaps they would help her in the future? Her glazed orbs danced across the icy features of the Edge. It reminded her of home with the bitter chill of winter, however that was the only thing that did so thankfully.

Glasgow began to move in a direction, quite aimless. Her mind curiously taking in each of the features she saw blanketed in the white phantom of snow. After awhile of trudging in random directions, she stumbled upon a pale creature much like herself. White, however taller than her. Glas took a few steps forward but watched a bit off in the distance. Glassy blue eyes watching the creature almost lifeless as it pushed up against the broken glass wall. It seemed almost relative to her, the glass shattered. One look at Glasgow and those would know that she could probably resemble that very wall. She waited a few moments before stepping in closer to the creature. Glasgow’s bones creaking lightly with her age and experiences. Winter probably didn’t help much either. “It’s a curious thing how mirrors can make one feel.” Her voice cracking in random spots. She hadn’t spoken since the meeting when she congratulated the new leaders. She wasn’t really sure how long it had been. She was beginning to feel quite old, however. With her speech, her scars that lined her mouths twitched lightly with the movement. Her scarred over glazed eyes watching the pale creature curiously, awaiting to see if she would be frightened by her presence. Strangers always were frightened.

Curse the cold. Always curse the cold.

Grouchy, the elephant lumbered through the piling of snow. His heavy form did not lend itself to easy trekking- for he sank into every snow drift, and his thick legs met much resistance as he plowed through snow banks. Thankfully, his heavily muscled form found it easy to break through the powder.

Breaking through the trees at the remnants of the broken glass- they really needed to do something about it, he grouchily thought to himself- he cam upon two pale mares. One winged, dainty, and sadly pushing herself against the broken glass. The other horned, smaller, and hauntingly scarred around glazed eyes. Surprise brought his brows up at the face of the mare, though he said nothing as he approached, hearing her voice cracking from disuse.

She spoke almost philosophically of mirrors- and he glanced at his reflection as it jumped along the shards while he continued to approach the two mares. Indeed, he agreed to himself, for not long ago he avoided his own reflection.

“Curious, maybe. But we can try our hardest to at least like our reflections,” his deep voice rumbled in an unsolicited response to the crackling voice. He smiled his lopsided smile at both mares, his deep blue eyes warmed (though still uncertainly wrinkled in the corners at the scarred one). “I am Tembovu, your herd brother it would seem. The pleasure is mine, fair ladies,” his tone was warm as he nodded his thickly spiraled horn to each of the mares. Though the cold leeched some of the natural good humor from his voice and demeanor.

Elsa,
Feel lucky for what you have, when you have it. Happily ever after doesn’t mean happy forever.

The irony of loneliness was that when you finally accepted it, others seemed to wander along. Like it or not, it was a fast and hard truth. Her attention flickered toward the oncoming unicorn. She looked almost like Elsa, just with horns instead of wings. Her comment though, was as cryptic as her appearance. Elsa shook her head, smiling ever so slightly as she glanced toward the glass. She still wasn't sure what Glasgow was referring to, was it their similar appearance, or the fact that both of them were shattered to pieces like this glass. However, before her little conversation began another approached, this one, seeming much more optimistic about her comment. Elsa smirked, if only he knew the real dangers that lurked just around every corner. It only made the whole situation a little more hilarious when he called them fair. Elsa snorted, she, for one, was no longer pretty. Her body was scarred, and she no longer had two eyes that "sparkled like gems". An old doll would look better than her in any situation. And since everyone was chiming in, she may as well enjoy the company.

Elsa shifted her body off of the glass, careful not to pull any loose shards that were still embedded in the walls. "But sometimes, you can't like your reflection. Sometimes, it's better to just shatter it than going on to pretend you love it." She mused, glancing between the two. Her cynicism wasn't a winning quality, but it was who she was now. It could not be pulled from her. "And of course it is a pleasure to meet me, its not everyday you come across a professional downer." She joked, but Edgar did not find that amusing, and instead, squeaked indignantly from her head. She just rolled her eyes, ignoring his loud protests for a moment. "My name is Elsa, and that loudmouth is my companion Edgar. Nice to meet you both." She added politely, finally being nice enough to calm the agitated bird down. He was enough of the stress ball for the entire population of Helovia.

Straightening up, she continued, not letting this opportunity for companionship to pass. "So are you two just as new as me?" She asked, curious to know how many of the original Edge population remained. Both leaders were new, and at this rate, it seemed that everyone was just as green. So from there, she shut up to let the others talk. If they didn't, well, Elsa could ramble on forever and ever about useless crap.
