if you wanna break these walls down
you're gonna get bruised

Black goop seeped from her nose, mouth, and eyes. The colors that filled her vision were anything but savory. They made her headache, for even the softest of noises would send a pastel shade across her vision. She was curled up on the sand, when the Endless Blue was quietest. Only the soft, rhythmic sound of waves lapping at the shore sent a color across her vision. It was a fluctuating violet at night. She had lingered by the shore since coming there, unsure of where else to go.

A part of her hoped that Ilios would show up on this breezy seaside night, for she had promised they would come to the ocean together. The thought of the stallion made her smile, glancing at the silver feather of his that was tied to her mane. It made her heart ache, she missed having someone by her side, though the colors a horse brought were painful. She longed for quiet companionship, someone to hold her and reassure her that she was going to be alright.

For a moment, she wondered what Ilios would think of her in her now. Her forehead was scarred, her body weak and sick. When they had first met she was almost a different horse. Her coat was free of imperfections, the image of health. Would he even want to be her friend anymore? Would anyone want her?

She let her loneliness take over, a single tear streaming down her face mixed with black slime. With her newfound condition, Eden considered the chances of being alone forever. Being with anyone was a headache, a swell of colors that engulfed her entire world. She could get used to it, but she didn't want to. The colors themselves brought along dulled senses, a sore throat, uncontrollable sneezes and coughs.

With a wheezy sigh she laid her head on the sand, eyes closed as she pondered her pain. It was a perplexing pain. She wanted someone to comfort her, but to contradict that, she wanted to be alone to drown in a never ending silence. So that night she prayed for someone who could do both for her.

@Ilios

"I'm gazing upward, a world I can't embrace..."

Coughing and spluttering the stallion roamed through the free lands searching for something. What was it he was after again? Oh ya, a cure. manic laughter erupted from his lunges as he stumbled along. Several of his herd-mates were sick and he wanted to have them healed up right. Ilios wasn't sure what or who could heal this affliction, but he was tired of feeling this way. Sighing heavily, which was followed by a rough cough, he continued on. If this was what it was like to help the gods he wasn't sure it was worth it. Some rational part of him told the stud it was worth it. It kept others out of harms way, kept his friends and family safe. As he thought of friends his mind wondered a special lady he had met; Eden. He smiled softly at the thought and hummed laughing brightly. Life was so exciting and strange. Everything seemed to be moving around with him making things blurry and wild. It was hard to find a good place to put his hooves.

Luckily he was on the soft moonlight sand when he fell for the first time. His knees dug into the ground and pain blew through his right knee, which hit first. Coughing black ooze flew from his nostrils, just as it drained from his silvery eyes. Staggering he found his feet again and blood trickled from a cut on his right knee. laughter bubbled up again as he staggered down the beach. After a few more steps he noticed a figure, a grey frame lay upon the sand. He stumbled forward once more his gaze set on the body.

When he was near his giggling voice rumbled away even though there wasn't anything even remotely funny. "Edennn?" As he swayed closer he fell once more sand digging into his cut knee. Pain was a distant memory as worry dug it's way into his heart. ,b>"Edden, are you okay?" His words were slurred and sputtering, but full of concern and fear. Instead of standing again he laid beside her, trying to rest his muzzle upon her back. "Isss okay Eden, I'm here nowww." His voice was a laughing whisper as eh tried to subside the damn giggles and coughs he tried to nuzzle her withers comfortingly.

Yellow. It seeped into her vision, looking wavy and inconsistent. It was a laugh. It was like the sun, filling her silent void with life and light. She considered ignoring it, going back to dwelling in her emptiness, but the sunshine persisted. She winced as she turned to look at it, ready to chew out whoever had thought it was a good idea to approach her whilst she was obviously trying to relax.

Her lips were open, on the brink of spewing out hate-filled words, but they faltered before they fell. The horse approaching was one she knew, one with teal colored feathers and ivy markings that crawled up his light golden pelt. Ilios. Her sunshine. His muzzle rested upon her back, alighting her nerves with the strongest of fires. She sprang up from her spot in that moment, features turning from exasperation to solace. . Her sides heaved, breath a struggling wheeze, but she didn't care. She didn't care that the yellow in her vision was making her headache, she didn't care because he was here. He was here and he would make everything better.

Her eyes found his mane and feathers, longing filling her features. She missed those feathers. It was a thought she had never had before. She missed feathers. A laugh escaped her lips in that moment, her muzzle reaching for his feathers, then trailing to his mane. Not long ago feathers intimidated her, repulsed her. Now they symbolized such immense hope for her.

It was like he said; it'll be okay now, he's here.
