if you wanna break these walls down
you're gonna get bruised

She padded softly after the stallion, keeping a close eye on the colors his hooves gave off and the amber that poured from his lips every now and then. She kept her hoofbeats as quiet as possible so she wouldn't dilute the colors she needed to walk. The mare would occasionally pause to sneeze or let out a cough that could not be held back, though she kept her thoughts solely on Kalona.

Eden pricked her ears up to listen to his reply. "I haven't really given much thought to where I go from here." She managed a sympathetic smile. She lived her life minute by minute, taking impulsive choices and adventuring where the wind took her. Very rarely did Eden think about her future. She considered it for a moment - where she was going and how she would get there, but she came up with nothing. It was depressing - she lived without aspirations.

"I will ..think about it. Thank you for the offer." Eden bowed her head, unsure of whether he could even see her or not. She wasn't looking at him, she was looking at the sounds he made. The colors were growing more intense with every second, but she was learning to cope with them. In fact, she was beginning to get used to this whole seeing sounds thing. That scared her more than the illness itself - the idea of it becoming normal to her.

She didn't want this for the rest of her life.

Explaining what was happening to her vision over and over till the day she passed was an unfavorable outcome. Not to mention the black goop, it was less than desirable. It was a disease, therefore it was contagious. She wouldn't be able to have anymore friends or family in the long run. She might even have to leave the Basin. The thought terrified Eden; it made her want to lay right back down and cry. She couldn't do that, though. Kalona was trying to help for some reason. She cleared her throat, preparing for the gray would fill her vision.

"Why are you helping me?" She asked in a melancholy tone as she gazed at the colors he made. She didn't want to say much more about it, partially because her throat was sore from coughing. She hoped she didn't come off as ungrateful, for she felt in debt beyond belief to his kindness. She was merely curious about his intentions and trying to pass time.

Then she noticed it. Her hooves were met with a slippery ground. It put her on edge, unused to the unfamiliar footing. She looked away from Kalona's colors to see blue, a great deal of blue. It's hues did not fade, and gave off more shades of color from it. Was this the ocean? She had heard of it before, but never seen it. She couldn't see much of it, for her vision was clouded with other colors, but the parts of it she could see were beautiful.

She looked to Kalona with an excited expression, though her lungs were pained with each breath and her eyes were getting tired. A breeze whisked through her mane and tail, invigorating Eden's weakened body. "Go get washed up and see if that helps at all." She nodded to the stallion in response, watching his figure slip into the water. She followed at a distance, taking careful steps into the water.

She jumped away from it at first, surprise filling her features. "It's cold!" She shrieked, giggling at her naivety. Eden turned her head to the side to let out another cough. It filled her vision with unsavory colors. It made her mood plummet. She was getting tired of it to say the least.

Eden decided to place her hope in Kalona's words, a tough expression crossing her features. She was determined to beat this illness. She had no aspirations, but that didn't mean she wanted to lose the option to have a future.

She walked into the ocean, submerging her body beneath it's waters. It felt strange. She almost felt like she was flying, though she was not aerodynamic enough in the water to think for sure that it was an accurate comparison. She opened her eyes, the salt stinging and blurring her vision. The colors she recognized as sounds were mostly gone. She saw pastels coming from splashes and waves, but that was all. Despite the landscape being so foreign, it felt comforting in it's silence.

She drank a little bit of the water, hoping to clear her throat some. She was unsure of how much good that would do her, so she inhaled a bit as well.

That wasn't exactly the smartest of plans. She turned around immediately, hooves thrashing about for land, causing colors to fill her vision. 'Not good, not good, not good - can't breathe!' She thought in her panic, her hooves finding the land at last. Her head broke the surface of the water, the rest of her body soon following, stumbling behind. She walked onto the land, coughing up both black goop and salt water. She could only hope that the pain it had caused her had done some good for her illness.

@Kalona decided to move the thread here :3
