Virgil stared awkwardly at the mammoth of a creature addressing him. However what was perhaps even more disorienting - apart from the different geographical terrain, the odd mist moving around his body - was the blood dripping from Tembovu's ear. Good Lord.. Virgil thought to himself - his sea-green gaze wide with amazement and horror.

Just what hellish purgatory was this?

But still more importantly, Where was Ava?

"I thank you - but I need no introduction to this land of damnation." Surely he wouldn't be here long. Why was he even in Purgatory? Surely the merits of his life were not so indecisive as to grant him access to neither heaven or hell? He had been a good steward, had he not? He had dutifully watched over the young charges placed in his care. So much show that Ava, royal as she was, was seen fit to be placed with him as well. Surely that deed alone would --

But then it hit him.

IF Ava had died, surely that would place his soul in jeopardy, for to allow the death of a child was a black mark upon your heavenly record. Images flashed once again - the storm, the sands, the crashing waves, icy cold and then ...

Had Ava perished?

Frantically Virgil looked around - in time to see the God he knew and feared leap towards the giant who had apparently 'brought' them here. Was their old God fighting this Lord of Purgatory for their souls? What would the point of going back to the land of the living be, if dear sweet Ava had perished? Would he not just use up the rest of his days on the Isle where last he saw her - awaiting death to bring him back here?

No. If there was even a chance that Ava was here - he would have to find her.

The stallion charged across the battle field, swinging his head this way and that, with a trail of seemingly tangible smoke billowing and following in his wake. "AVA." He yelled loudly, searching the battlefield for her brightly coloured body, and praying that he would not find it here at all - or that if he did, that it would not already be collapsed. Finding her naught, but seeing the Tiger in his path, the once-warrior spun nimbly on his forehand and bucked towards the beast, hoping to catch its shoulder or jaw with his hoof.

If he couldn't find Ava, at least he could protect her from this monster.

As the Tiger leaped from some unknown hiding place, Gaucho nodded to Einarr before moving away from the warden. Spreading his flaming wings, Gaucho took the skies as Archibald made the ground vibrate under them. His wide and flaming wing span pulled the dun high into the skies - making it easy for him to catch sight of Zeno, who had done the same. His darkened ears swivelled to catch his words, and the Sultan nodded in agreement. Kazga is afazh!" He called back to her: The black is fire!. He indicated with his nose towards the piles of tar which were already being alighted by Mauja and Aithniel.

The idea formed into another - could the entire beast be lit on fire?

Swooping low following Zenobia, he waited until his child had pulled up from her dive before unleashing a wave of fire towards the Tiger. If Mauja and Aithniel could get the puddles on the ground to burn, why not the Tiger's body?

With a grunt, Gaucho pulled up and out of the dive, retreating back to the skies. His seething gaze searched below, trying to root out members of his family who may be in need. All for the time being, seemed to be holding their own. It made his blue-striped chest swell with pride to watch his family come together time and time again, and prove triumphant against the threats which had invaded their home. The glory of the Throat and of the Sun was stronger now than it had ever been, and the Wildfire was confident that their might would once again prevail over the wickedness that tried to infect their home.

Gaucho flies into the sky and throws fire at the tiger. TEAM EARTH.

    MORENTH

_______________

Some spoke of a battle and Morenth still remembered Ophelia's cool words as she spoke of Rift Gods. Even so, as the tiger leaped for the Earth God, Morenth felt himself grow cold on the inside.

Throughout the gathering he had remained his usual, quiet self, not wishing to bother others with his inexperience of this land. He was no Riftian but, he was still new to Helovia, so he did not truly understand the implications of the Rifts or the Gods who opened them, nor those who came through it. So he gathered what he could from those who spoke around him, being nothing more than a silent shadow on the edge of the crowd. Still, this was beyond anything he had ever known. Legs planted in place, Morenth watched in silent horror as the tiger drew blood from the Earth God. Everything seemed to move slowly, but all at the same time it moved fast. Faster than he would remember later on. In a heartbeat everyone reacted. The winged horses took to the sky as the Earth God shook the ground with his might, throwing great boulders at the tar-spewing tiger.

He heard shouts of warning - stay away from the tar! Glancing down Morenth realized that the tar was pouring out of the tiger, creating large veins of black goo that with an unnatural speed seemed to move towards those who were still unlucky enough to be on the ground. Don't touch it! His mind roared and he felt his mind begin to sharpen with the battle-ready hardness he had been trained into. His heart thudded against his chest, but he made himself move. Dancing away from the black gooey substance that drifted towards him, he could feel the heat that rose from it as if it were a river of fire instead of tar. A new layer of sweat marred his neck, dampening the stripes on his pristine coat. Hooves crunched against the earth, he could hear cries and shouts of battle around him. A few charged in head first towards the tiger, and others attacked from the skies. Morenth considered his options, still dancing away from the tar as the earth began to rumble underneath him.

It caught him by surprise, and unable to steady himself from mid-stride, he stumbled. The earth flew towards him, the rumbling disorientating him and he felt his knees scrape against the rough surface of dirt, his face stopping inches from where the black tar rolled past. His knees burned, but Morenth cursed and pulled himself away from the tar as quickly as his feet would carry him. Drawing himself upright, his cheeks flushing with heat and his breath heavy, Morenth whipped his head around to where the tiger was and, without a second thought he charged. He followed the flow of the battle, unable to allow himself to leave as others fought against the other God. Adrenaline now pumped fiercely through his veins and he charged, lowering his horns towards the beast. He leaped neatly over the streams of tar, wary to keep away from them as he closed the distance between himself and the tiger. Others charged as well, one by one, all in unison they attacked. In his mind he was going to gore the beast with a horn, but after observing the black tar oozing out of the tiger, he suddenly realized it would not be such a good idea. Instead he landed neatly next to the tiger, swinging on his haunches he struck out with a hind leg, hoping to smack the beast with one of his hooves.

From the corner of his eye, Morenth catches glimpse of a flickering light. Twisting his head up he is just in time to see winged horses set the tar alight with a flickering flame. Gathering his muscles Morenth leaps away from the tiger, hopefully he was in time.

notes: Team Earth! After nearly slipping into the tar, Morenth charges in and kicks at the tiger with all his might.

Sticking around after many had left the colt wanted to try and learn as much as he could about their earth god. This was the first time he had ever been fortunate enough to see him in person and he was truly as stunning as others had described. Shaking his head to clear the blackness away from his nostrils and from around his eyes the colt kept watch diligently using this as an excuse not to go home. He loved his home but being sick with this nasty black stuff he was afraid that he would infect others should he return, he couldn't take that risk. Surely someone would know how to get rid of this so that he could once again go home, he missed his mother and knew that she would get upset if he stayed away for too long. Perhaps this was his best shot at finding a cure, surely the earth god being all so powerful and kind would be able to help him. Coughing up another lump of black goo he spat it onto the ground groaning softly, it had been a day or two now why wouldn't it just go away like other colds did?

Waking to the most horrible noises he pulled his wings up to try and shield his poor ears from the noise. As if this black crap wasn't enough by itself why did it have to make his hearing super sensitive? The initial thought that had run through the boy's head was to just stay put and maybe the beast wouldn't find him but then the earth's voice bellowed out loudly convincing him that staying still wasn't the solution. Spotting the tar like tiger stalking through the bushes as many others raced into attack the noise assaulted him like a knife cutting deep into his brain. Freezing under the extreme threat the beast posed the brindled boy needed to decide what to do. Would he be a chicken and run away like a coward, or would he stay and try and help the best he could? He was afraid but he couldn't run away and watch others get hurt when he might have been able to prevent it. Ducking behind a few trees as cover the colt made a beeline towards the Earth god and Resplendence with his ears splayed to the side in a poor attempt to cover the noise of battle. He couldn't exactly try and run when his wings were covering half his face and this goo kept clouding his vision.

Reaching the god he looked over to him wondering what he would do next before turning his head to Res and another stranger who seemed to be hovering. Maybe he could try and help protect the god? It would at least keep him out of the tiger's way so he couldn't get eaten. Gathering his strength and courage he managed to reach for his magic and send a bolt of electrified fire towards the cat's face. He wasn't sure if it would work but it might do something to stop it.

SUMMARY:
Hesitates wanting to run away but then runs towards the earth god and resplendence in the hopes of trying to protect them. Is still super sensitive to sound so is trying to cope with that and the effects of the GLL. Tries to use his magic to shoot an electrified fire bolt towards the tiger's face.

Watching the events unfold from a little ways away the hybrid wasn't stupid enough to believe that this time things would be different. There was bound to be some sort of retaliation from the gods and it was just a matter of what form it would take on this time. By now the girl was starting to go stir crazy being grounded for so long thanks to this damn illness the lovely croc god had bestowed upon them. If it wasn't the constant headache that did you in it would be the light sensitivity or the blood spouting from your ears. None were very nice symptoms but it was what they were limiting her to which bothered her the most. The only time she had dared to fly was to get across the stupid river that the god had so carelessly forgotten to install a bridge or at least given them a boat.

Hearing the sounds of something prowling around within the brush she turned to go investigate keeping her hooves as silent as possible so not to alert whatever it was to a free meal. Gazing down towards the ground the first oddity she noticed was the patches of black tar pooled in various places. Either this was something to do with the beast or someone with Gll had decided to spew the shit everywhere and die, based on the cranky voice of the earth god she would assume it to be the first. Continuing to pick her way through the tar it took a couple minutes before she managed to pin her eyes on the tiger stalking around the god while a whole array of helovians fired various objects at it. In a way she wanted to cheer for the tiger to wipe them all from this earth and save her the problem of doing it later but then she remembered that it was these bastards that had plagued her with this disease. Pinning her ears back she could feel the trickling of blood down the side of her neck as her vision blurred slightly. Dammit! This thing was going to pay for this if it was the last thing she did.

Leaping forward into a headlong gallop the hybrid swerved around the tar pools knowing how nasty the shit could be to get off. Screw her chances of suddenly dropping from the air there was too much crap down here to continue on foot. Ripping her wings eagerly from her sides she lept up and within seconds was in the air ready to kill this bastard. Flames sprouted before her from the same moron that had tried to fry her in the last battle blinding her until she managed to circle away from the light and try a different angle. Dammit this was not going to be easy considering her head was already a painful but this was war there was no room for losers or weaklings. Swooping to the tiger's right side to see what all others were aiming for she once again climbed higher only to let herself drop from the sky aiming her hooves at the top of the feline's skull. "Lets see what you think of this." She murmured quietly focusing her attention on making the attack land.

Summary:
Leaps into air, swerves to avoid Gaucho's fire and its brightness. Aims her hooves to the top of the tiger's skull and drops down hoping to do some damage to its spine or skull.

When the stallion had walked in amongst the trees and the greenery he had been rather shocked at the way everything was so healthy. Nothing back home had ever been like this, most was either dead or dying and a rather ugly shade of yellow. Nothing grew there even in the summer months sprouts of grass would start to grow but the poisonous atomosphere took little time to kill it off. As the initial meeting with the newest portal ponies came to a close there was an obvious tension in the air around them. All those native to the land had come to protect this world from the likes of them and if the last battles taught them anything it was that something was bound to go wrong. Time travel had never really been something he had studied but what he knew was that all magic came with a price, no one got a free pass without suffering some kind of consequence. These gods were no different and they really had no idea what they were messing with when they chose to bring them all here.

Sleep had not come to the outcast easily the first couple nights and tonight was no different with his nerves being hardwired for battle. Expect the unexpected or die trying to play the optimist in a game where there was never a winner. It was the tough that survived and he was sure as hell no weakling. He came here not knowing a soul in either of his worlds yet for some reason he felt as if he had something to prove. Never in his life had he held something before him and known it was going to last forever so the reason behind this sudden change in attitude was surprising even to himself. The rumbling of the creature woke him from his dozing immediately throwing him into full alert as to what lurked beyond the trees. The darkness was the biggest tip off as to the creatures presence closely followed by the raging voice of their earth god. Grabbing his knife from his holster his hooves dug deeply into the sandy shores propelling the stallion towards the culprit. While he had failed to prove his worth at the last battles he was bound and determined to do it this time round. Waiting within the brush as the giant feline got closer and closer with each new attack someone launched against it the manly stud had to time this just right so not to wind up dessert. Counting the seconds in silence the stallion broke through the brush the moment the tiger entered his battle range. With a swift flick of his head he launched the knife towards the tiger's neck hoping it would pierce through its jugular while he followed suit with horns brandished out before him aiming to slice and stab anything he could get.

SUMMARY:
Kalona waits hidden in the brush until the tiger is within his range of attack. Breaking through the brush he throws his knife towards the tiger's jugular hoping to pierce it while following suit with his horns to slash or stab anything he can manage.

And there it is. The wait --that anticipation building like kinetic energy under a false guise of calm, the inner eye of a violent storm that swirls at the periphery and primes itself to drown them in a tsunami of fury and vile hatred that can no longer be contained-- is over, with nothing less ceremonious as the deafening supersonic boom of realities crashing together that brings both gods back into Helovian corporeality.

Unfortunately for Imonada, that happened practically right over her very own head. By virtue of dumb, blind luck and terror-fueled urgency, she flits away like a bounding rabbit giving chase before she ends up an unfortunate statistic, just barely missing a nice date crushed between the two behemoths. Satisfied she would not be pounded into a circumference, she wheels around in a threaded mass of tangled hair to face what sent her packing moments before.

Eyes bugging out of her skull, she reels at the sight of the putrid tigress and Earth fronting one another. The stench of rotted meat and sickness that assaults her nose was a rosy fragrance compared to the misery of corrupted magic that laced an acrid, soul-withering bite into a concoction of dissolution. When the fallen god rasps out her claim, it's like hooks dragging across her spine, that kind that summons the base animal fear. She freezes, meters away from the two, as her fellow Helovians descend onto the ruinous creature like a pack of wolves ready to chew through the tar, the perverted flesh, into its oil-pumping black heart to rend it obsolete.

Do something, you git.

Do what!? She was a rat, a courier, a spook. Not a fearless warrior who surrounded herself with the light of triumph and glory; no, her battlefield was everything in between, in the dark. As she struggles within herself for what seems like eternity, although really it only takes but the breadth of a heartbeat, a more sensible portion of her mind registers Aithniel casually flicking a dollop of fire onto the slick, greasy mass that spills from the tiger. Her voice way ahead of her, she howls with the ferocity of a hurricane upon making the connection: "Burn her! The tar! BURN. HER."

And then she is off, arcing the perimeter set by the two celestials, making a pointed effort to not look directly at the blazes being set -- what was once a headache has grown into photosensitivity accompanied by a peculiar trickle of blood from the ears, but since it had not felled her yet and with no cure on the current horizon, she chose to largely suffer it. What another ailment, mind or body, in the myriad of others she collected?

She could not fly, but gods could she run, hooves tearing hungrily into the sand of the island, mane and tail flagged like a raised war banner. Sharp eyes notice Ampere as she dives to send a certain degree of incapacitation hurdling toward her lead's companion, but she is distracted by Earth shaking the ground furiously. Faltering once before she regains her composure, she quickly arrives at her destination flanking her god and draws up to Resplendence's side. "Madam Resplendence. Let me know if I can help."

How calm and collected she sounded, if a tad breathless, as if they were tending to a garden and not fending off a giant crazed tiger god. Even so, she would be hard-pressed to not keep a wild eye on the action.

If you don't bleed it, you don't need it anymore
If you don't need it, get up and leave it on the floor

A new realm… with no Rift Gods and no sickness? This bearded Lord was either playing a dirty trick on them or offering them a chance that Dacianna had thought she would never have again; a chance to live. It seemed almost too good to be true. After all she had been through, all the hiding and fighting in the Rift, to be suddenly offered a realm that was free of all the evil that had plagued her so much? Why? Why did it suddenly disappear at the will of one Lord? Was he really that great or were the Gods of the Rift that weak… and if so… what did that make her? She felt like an ant in comparison to this goliath that pushed away the dark realm like some annoying fly. Dacianna didn’t like feeling small and she mulled over his words, trying to find some sort of wrongness in it just so she could start an argument. "I see" she mulled, pursing her lips with a flick of her tail "and all we have is your word" she sighed, muttering the sentence under her breath knowing it was a pointless comment but it slipped out anyway. This God offered her peace from the plague, why was she fighting him? "I’m sor-" she almost managed her apology before her words stuck in her throat when a familiar looking tar marked tiger jumped from the shadows and Daci’s eyes grew wide.

All at once Dacianna wanted to shout at the Earth for lying to them, but her words were still stuck in her throat as he came under attack and her heart lurched in panic. The worried emotion contorted onto her features and she stamped her foot in frustration "such an idiot" she berated to the male with the beard, who had just set her free, with intense concern lacing her voice; it was more of a complaint than an insult. She dithered on the side-lines, not knowing what to do for the best as she watched the Earth God shake off the tiger and the battle ensued. "Why am I here" she mumbled the statement when the rest of the gathered followed their seemingly benevolent Lord into the fray and suddenly the earth began to shake.

The roan unicorn did her best to try steady herself on the moving ground, feeling the movement vibrate through her body as she tried to watch the battle as it intensified and her heart skipped at every skirmish she witnessed. When finally she found her balance, Dacianna dashed forwards herself with golden eyes now ablaze with anger as she hurtled towards the God who had caused sickness for so long. She wasn’t sure about this new world, but she was sure she didn’t want to go back to the old one. In one big effort, the gold marked mare tried to slam her fore-hooves into the tarred feline’s ribcage or back, hoping she might drag at least a yell from the disgusting thing.

She prayed her aim was good enough through the flames and the crumbling earth, feeling more frightened of the friendly fire than the tiger.

Edit :: Team Earth God [I forgot ><]

Dacianna tries to slam her front hooves into the tigers back/rib area.

ALCHEMIST

Why am I just not surprised when another creature from the pits of hell bursts out from the depths of the Rift? This one, like the others, assumes the form of a carnivore, maybe because a herbivore would be too cuddly and sweet to incite murderous rage in the hearts of all horses. My ears slam flat to my scalp as a great tiger spews forth, seemingly free of the chains the Earth God tried to place on it.

Just like the other three times, testosterone-fuelled dickwads fly towards the creature, squabbling over who will get to be the one to take it down. Some mares, too - so much for being the fairer sex. Meanwhile I plant myself firmly on the sidelines, feeling the familiar quiver of my frightened flesh as I watch blood and fur flying. A couple of the bystanders try to set the tiger on fire - how sweet - whilst others use their horns, hooves and teeth to marmalise it. I arch my neck and back away further, not out of fear (well, not totally out of fear), but out of my desire to be able to see the whole battlefield. When I can encompass every fighter with my gaze, I can see who is injured, who needs my help.

As ever, herbs are stuffed liberally in my halter, and I beckon into the depths of my soul to try and draw upon my magic in preparation. I have never used it before, but if the tiger manages to rip some limbs off like it seemingly wants to, I may have reason to use it. So I stand sentinel on the outskirts of the fight, hunting for healer-needing-folk to tend to, whilst simultaneously grimacing at the horror of the battlefield before me. ""

ASHAMIN

Ashamin watched with impatience as the crowd grew. He knew where this was going, and there was a tension in the air that suggested he wasn't the only one. A bird on the God's shoulder came as warning, the fear held in everyone's bodies was an omen. This wasn't going to be a good day. Even if they won, someone was going to come out of it changed for the rest of their lives.

Maybe, just maybe, it would be him.

He snorted and reared in surprise, then, when the foreign god ripped through the scene and attacked the unfamiliar God of the Earth with a viciousness reserved for predators. It was not lost on Ashamin that all four gods thus far encountered had revealed themselves to be hunters, not when Helovia's own gods were always to be prey.

Power of all sorts could never defy the nature of species. It was a good thing Ashamin had no racial inclinations, with that belief. A power as resolute as his own could cause serious damage with such hate.

But he had no time to dwell on the chaos, he could only register the hissing black as a drop of it landed mere feet from him and set him running. How to fight a creature that burned? Well, just like the others, of course. Freezing, burning, numbing blood... none of it was new. This was another fight, another war, and Ashamin was just another soldier.

So sad, to see how quickly the youth's hope can fall to pieces.

He darted in and out of the crowd, avoiding black splatters and bursts of flame as best as he could. The bear god's mask covered his features without need for command, and he was as protected as he could be.

Protected as anyone could be when they ran headlong into danger, teeth bared to bite and hooves kicking out to the side to knock a God off balance.

Those Days are Gone

I did not do very well, that day. It was simply impossible, given my state. How, without vigor and all dipped in swampy seawater, could I have much of an effect?

When the fires started and the wind rose, sending a stink of fight, I was too busy trying to drag myself to some sort of safety. It was not that I was a coward, no, I was just smart. Smarter, probably, than many others that had insisted on fighting in each of these conflicts. It was clear to me that some had a powerful effect--some, with their magic and great strength--and others such as myself were merely there for backup. I wasn't going to try and attack that giant god, heavens no. I'd had enough of my share of the action, I'd tasted enough of my own blood.

And the headache? Well, it prevented me from most things.

I spotted a small gelding, one present at most other gatherings I'd attended, and his pouch of herbs with more interest than anything else. With that damned headache on my mind, it was hard enough to focus on him. Slowly I stumbled over, staying on the outskirts and doing my best to avoid the fray. Occasionally, I think, I may have kicked out at the vague threat of an enemy even if I was unaware of one.

"You!" I called out, jerking my nose towards him with urgency even though the movement stung and I wanted to retreat into stillness. "I need your help," I admitted with some reluctance, "my head, I can barely make sense of any of this, I can't fight until someone brings me some clarity."

My tail and mane, sopping still, gathered dirt and pills of moss. Dripping as I was, I looked more like a swamp monster than the aging beauty I was. But I didn't care much at the time, and I don't care in retrospect either. Explosions rang behind me but I could see nothing through the pain of that headache.

I think I wanted to help, maybe. But I know I wanted that headache gone.

As the days had come and gone without incident, without the rising and thrashing of hate and shadows, the blue mare had dared to become hopeful. Maybe, just maybe, this time it would be different—just maybe, there would not have to be blood shed for this land. But her hope does not come without its doubts. She remembers the mirroring waters of Halcyon Flats, the blessed promise of peace that had come from the fiery deity, the joy that had leapt in her chest at hearing his words…and then the battle, the chaos, and the breaking of that fragile, burning hope.

She does not blame the Sun God for his mistake, does not allow herself to condemn him despite the bitterness that stings her eyes. Perhaps Gods don’t have to be perfect, perhaps Gods are capable of mistakes just as much as the mortal beings they protect. It is only the promise of her parents, their voices of comfort echoing from that place between wakefulness and dreams, that keeps her from abandoning the cluster of islands, of fleeing before she would have to see it. As much as their hate hurts her, she wants to help them.

With various herbs and sprigs of healing entwined with the seaweed and shells in her hair—preparation she had taken in her exploration of the forested islands—Tiamat wanders slowly through the trees, hovering over the large gathering as they wait for their war. When it finally comes—when the soft silence is shattered by the roars of rage, when boulders and threats are cast—the ocean mare nearly crumbles beneath the weight of her dismay, a plea dying on her lips.

She cannot stop it—but she cannot do what she is able (help, heal, mend) if she loses herself now. She cannot fail them. Mustering up the last frayed threads of her courage, Tiamat pulls herself together enough to catch sight of her bearings, hoping to dodge lines of friendly fire as she skirts to the sidelines. It doesn’t take long for things to descend into chaos as it had before. The masses come to congregate against the enemy, and while she grieves their battle, she is proud of their might.

However, amidst the bustling and warring of bodies, she recognizes a small figure perched above the commotion—Galiel, and she shouts out her encouragement. Tiamat smiles, but her panic for her safety is too overwhelming and rushes her to the filly’s side. “Your efforts are better served here, little one, where you cannot be hurt; please, don’t try to leap into the fight,” her concern is earnest and nothing but genuine, her features softening, “They need your moral support.” Bumping the filly’s cheek softly, almost playfully, she returns her attention to the battlefield, muscles poised and ready to rush to someone’s aid should they need her.

how fickle my heart
The stallion doesn’t know what he had been expecting—perhaps for the earth to erupt beneath them immediately and give way to the bloodshed and chaos that he has become accustomed to. So when several days had come and gone since his arrival to the islands, the Warlander had first grown restless, and then tired. He isn’t fond of waiting. Patience is not a virtue he is particularly familiar with, and so finding himself irritable and weary from his headache, he had wandered from the thick of the crowd and found himself a quieter place.

He rests their now, his large body sprawled among the damp underbrush in his slumber, eyelids flickering gently in his dreams—free of the horrible aching and throbbing of his body. Rohan would likely remain in such a contended state indefinitely, but fate would not have it. Suddenly, the earth rumbles beneath him, jarring him violently into consciousness. His lips twisting into a snarl, the stallion leaps up, ears pinning and his body tensing in a combination of surprise and anger, frustrated that anyone would have the audacity to wake him so.

It doesn’t take long for his headache to catch up to him. Groaning, he lowers and rolls his head with the sudden dizziness and throbbing at the base of his skull, a fresh trickle of blood oozing from both of his ears. However, even in his pain, he cannot dismiss the familiar echoes of war. His attention aroused, he—slowly—lifts his head and steadies himself, grunting as he moves into a brisk trot towards the heart of the fire.

And there is indeed fire—everywhere! Fire, tar, earth, water—an extraordinary sight, but he finds himself unable to appreciate it in his current state, hesitating only a moment before he leaps in to join the fray. His movements are not as oriented as usual, his concentration flickering, and only narrowly avoiding the black streams of tar, he aims for the tigress. Arching his neck and narrowing his eyes against the heat of the flames, he aims the points of his antlers at the beast’s neck, hoping to impale its jugular. Heaven forbidding that he reaches his target at all.

the tempest of an unrelenting sea

The severe mare’s attention sweeps to the grey mare who approaches her side— @Dacianna , whom she had fought alongside in these diseased lands. A short nod of recognition is given, bladed aquamarine horn slicing through the air. But then she felt a prickle. Overlarge eyes of aqua and yellow sweep to @Dragomir , levelly meeting his glare. She blinks once. Waiting.

But the dark bay stallion says nothing. So he is not worth her attention. Again, she feels eyes upon her— predatory eyes. Plated, tough skin ripples as her ringed irises leave the unimportant stud and search for the source of this feeling. Militant muscles leap to rigidity beneath her hide as she arrests her gaze on the mutant shark— has it come back to finish its meal?! Scaled, sandy ears pin flush with her skull, lips beginning to pull back to reveal sharp teeth.

But it is not the mutant beast that had chased her before. No, this @Rude creature was an equid shark. Ears swing forward, perked and interested in him as he was in her. But her attention is once again drawn elsewhere, as the God speaks again, his deep voice rumbling from the very earth beneath her feet.

The god takes the time to answer her, to answer many from the diseased world. Brows raise in surprise and respect. Briefly, she lowers her head and unblinking gaze in deference. But this recognition is short-lived as her ridged face flies up to watch the rush of motion.

It was her. That crafty, conniving feline bitch god. Boulders erupted and rolled while her tar boiled and stained the earth, flames and attacks leaping towards the tigress from the Riftians and ‘Helovians’ alike. And she did not let them attack alone— no. Despite the fire reining among slashing horns, hooves, and teeth, the sea warrioress attacked the goddess who had ruined her herd and lands.

She coils her rigid haunches, springing alongside the her grey fighter. Bladed horn slices between the burning tar, face hot from the flames. But she does not care— for this is a battle of vengeance and fury, one she has waited so long for.

An unearthly, primal warrior’s shriek rips from her throat as her horn seeks a god’s flesh.

Team Earth God: Leaps and tries to cut the god with her horn.

The Earth God beamed at him— and the giant stud felt it warm the very dirt beneath his hooves. It was a surreal feeling, to earn the approval of a god. And entirely novel to the elephant. So he returned the warm smile of the Earth deity, dipping his great horn in a respectful nod. Though @Virgil had soon wandered off in search of another.

But his eyes are caught by the sight of @Nyx — or, more importantly, her swollen barrel. A strange weightlessness drops in his gut, for he had been with her. Was it he who rounded her sides? His mind flashes to Rexanna, for things were so changed with her since he had sparred and mounted the Edge’s warrior. Doubt, underlined with a strange sense of hope, flooded his pain-creased eyes.

He moved towards the soaking wet, pregnant mare as her electric gaze meets his. There is a thrill there- a jolt as voltaic as her. He moves towards her, continually glancing at her displaced ribs and dripping legs. “Nyx—“ his quiet, rumbling question was cut off by commotion.

Once again, the Rift gods proved unjust and deceitful. The tigress of melting tar swipes their firmly just god, sprawling in a mess of black gunk. The sound of rolling boulders grate his pounding skull, and he narrows his deep blue eyes against the noise. Still, as a trained soldier, he gathers himself to launch an attack on the corrupt god. Masses of muscle, pounds of flesh all bunch and ready themselves to be hurled—

But the masses of fire freeze him with their heat. There is so much aflame here, the hungry tongues licking the pools of tar and spiraling everywhere. Instinctively he leans away from the heat, knowing the full extent of its devastation. But he thinks of the mare beside him, and what might possibly be growing within her.

So he braves the flames, lunging with large hooves and trying to angle his body between any attacks and the white mare’s pregnant sides. He knows he cannot stop the soldier from entering the fray (only she can make that choice), but he can try to absorb any blows that would harm the life inside her.

It was happening again. The promise of peace was sliced in half as a large tiger attacked the Earth God. He yelled - something about a promise. I couldn't hear, the cries of war far too loud. Get away from us. Please.. please. This - This was too much. Ghosts of the past threatened to catch up with me as my eyes temporarily saw the lands of Urd around me. For a moment all I could do was stand there. Petrified.

Numbly I watched as Thantos charged into battle. I wonder if he even knew I was here? He seemed to be doing well: already appeared to know a lot of people. I knew people.. sort of. I mean I guess I'm a member of a herd now, but the weight of that reality was frightening. Part of me still wanted to run from those whom only wished to help. Fear is the worst enemy one can face.

I did not know many of the Hidden Falls but I noticed Ciceron and Kiara charging into the battle. Along the sidelines was Resplendence. The sweet, loving mare was doing what I already knew fit her perfectly: seeking to heal those in need. If only I was able to be that selfless.

My hooves started to move toward the Earth Medic but a certain figure caused me to freeze. The young filly was easy to spot with her porcelain figure that was as white as snow. Her mother.. She had died right in front of me. Guilt gnawed at my heart. If I had been able to react quicker or.. or something[ a family wouldn't be torn apart. Like a coward I had ran away when more equines began to approach. I was too afraid to face her, too afraid of what she would think of me.

The girl was off on the sidelines. Would she be safe? Considering the flames that ravaged the tiger I found it hard to believe she would be in range. Security was offered in standing by Resplendence's side and a chance to actually help. To be useful. Yet my guilt worn heart led my hooves frantically to the filly and, like I had did against the crocodile, I stood in front of her.

I couldn't let anymore injury come to the girl. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I stood by and watched as more potential deaths occurred.

stars in your multitudes, scarce to be counted. filling the darkness with order and light.
You are the sentinels. silent and sure. keeping watch in the night.
Being prepared for the worse, Nuray had lingered on the humid island. Rationalism argued with the hope of the Earth God. His intentions were well but the pattern would most likely continue. This proved to be true as another fake god appeared thus continuing. The cycle would be continued here but, at the same time, it could be possibly ended here. As far as she was aware there were four Gods in Helovia. Four new lands had been revealed and four corrupted gods fought pitifully with greed in their eyes. For the sake of the herd she could only pray this would be the end to it.

Tactical eyes spotted the tar before it was even called out. Her long furred tail lashed back and forth as she scanned for a way to safely get to the tiger without either slipping on tar or being set ablaze. Most of the tainted stripes were along the beast's back. A frontal attack was risky as that was where the creature's sharp teeth were but it was better than the alternatives.

Carefully yet quickly she weaved her way around the attacking horses in order to get in front of this heretic who dared call themselves a god. Weary of the tar, Nuray raced forward and lowered her horns. All the while her golden gaze locked onto the monster's own eyes. Blinding the tiger was her plan. However, even if her mark didn't hit true, stabbing anywhere on the face would be just as good.

For the True Gods! Guide my steps, Goddess of the Moon. Help my aim be true.

"Talk?"

Ophelia the Forsaken

Ophelia wondered at the Earth God, watching a powerful tiger god leap through. They all seemed so surprised, as if they were the strongest beings in the universe, but they were not. There were always fighters, and eventually, they would fight back. She found herself admiring this Rift god for her tenacity and strength, the will to defend her kingdom, flawed as it was, against the invaders. Her admiration did not equal guilt however, and she felt no qualms about destroying her outright. Helovia was her home. This was her land.

The pale princess observed at first, seeing the ways this orange monster moved like fluid. Black substance, sticky and black, seeped from her stripes, and Ophelia carefully toed over the lines. She watched the Earth God bleed and saw the others charge headlong into battle, but she learned her lesson before. Tinek leaps from her back and jumped across the trees, watching his bonded from above and also keeping tabs on the movement of the battle.

With weighted strides, and moved to sneak around the back, only pausing when she saw Morenth falter. Ophelia's ears flipped forward, and she quickly moved to his side. "You all right?" she asked, staying with him through the battle. He kicked out and she lunged forward, aiming her horn toward the monster's legs. Tinek, protective of them as fire wielders used their magic with impunity, hovered down, letting out a breath of ice to try to keep Morenth and Ophelia safe.

"I'll be close," she promised, nodding to him while eying her next move.

"If I go crazy then will you still,"

He had stuck around the new islands learning what he could of the place and waiting for the battle he was sure would follow. Even the might Sun had been tricked by a Rift god, or so he had heard. Still sick the boy had left the flats before it had even begun. This time he would not run, would not leave the area he was so sure would fall under attack. It didn't take long for the fight to begin though.

He had been soaring high over the islands when the Gods appeared drawing forth anger from the young stallion. Acting on instinct the golden male dove wings pressed tight to his body. Silver eyes saw the tar falling from the beast's black stripes. Thinking quickly he aimed for the orange between the oozing lines. Teal ivy marked legs aimed for the tiger's head, right on a large orange mark hoping to knock the massive tiger for a loop. As the attack either hit or missed the great silver and teal wings were thrown wide as he dove for the ground eyes searching for someone in need.He quickly finds Ranjiri and lands beside her. Without saying a word the stallion attacks the creatures rear leg trying to keep his eyes upon her trying to shield her without keeping her from attacking. It wouldn't do him any good to keep the mare out of the fight, she would only hate and resent him if he did try to push her away. Instead of doing as his heart longed to do, he would be her shield, take as much pain for her as he could.

PARELIA
Honest hearts are undercover. We are shadows on our own
Parelia had also stuck around, following her son, at a distance. Yes, she wanted to keep an eye on her son, was that so bad? Instead of trying to talk to him she had only stuck close by using Penna's sharp eyes to watch the young stud, without getting to close. She knew he would talk to her when he was ready. Sighing softly the mare's own hazel eyes rested upon his golden frame for a moment before flying high above the island. Penna screeched as he saw the battle starting below them. She conversed with him for a moment for the pair dove down to help.

Blue and white flames covered the mare's lithe body as she flew for the tiger. Penna on the other wing, flew around searching for any that might need a little extra help. He knew his bonded could take care of herself, or would call if she needed him. Instead of diving just like her son had, the fire blanketed mare flew along the massive cat's back trying to ignite ever inch of the beast she could. There was fire everywhere around her, but none blue and white like her own. Anger pulsed through the duo as the mare tried to burn, and the falcon went for the beasts eyes. 'Be careful Penna! I can't lose you!' He only sent back love and respect for her wishes. She made another sweep up the tiger's back before flying under the creature trying to light up her belly hair as well.
