They came together, the four siblings. Each was weary from their adventures, and none were entirely pleased with the outcome.
"We should have waited. We could have come to an amicable solution-" The Earth God began, the wounded and even the lives of the dead Rift Gods weighing heavily on his mind.
"And just how did that work for you?" Purred the Goddess of the Moon, staring up into her brother's watery and caring gaze. "You took your time. Bartered and pleaded and guess what? You were betrayed." Although the Earth God knew that his sister was right, the frown on his lips deepened as he sighed, conceding the point.
"It doesn't matter." Interrupted the God of the Sun - with the God of the Spark nodding in agreement at his side. "What's done is done. We acted as we had to, and have proven ourselves triumphant once again."
"Blood is always the price." Agreed the Spark, his words hanging heavily amidst the group.
Silently the siblings stared at one enough, each thoughtfully trying to formulate what was on all of their minds. Something dark had lingered, and yet remained unseen. None could find it, none could articulate the words to describe its presence, and yet it was known with bright certainty to them all. Helovia was changed. The four were no longer alone in their sovereignty.
"You all feel it." The Goddess began, halting the silence with a toss of her dainty head. "Something is here." Uncomfortably, the three nodded in agreement. Although the Goddess usually liked being right, her lilac-cast lips remained in a thin line. She knew her place and strength among her brethren - but whatever had slid its way into their lands was wholly unknown to her. The powers of darkness and deception lay firmly in her jurisdiction. The threat of infringement frightened her in a way that she would not admit to her brothers - but in a way she knew that they felt.
"We will be watchful and mindful." Began the Earth. "We will keep our distance - we will not let this thing know the value of those who inhabit Helovia. We cannot let our love for them be their downfall. We will be for them, from the corners of the world as we have always been. But we will be wary. The lands that we ushered into creation - let us watch them with care. I have cured all those who have come from those unholy lands, alieving them and our peoples of their afflictions, but still a darkness persists. "
The other three nodded in agreement. And so they fled, with the silent understanding that they were at war with something that none of them could see or touch, but which was very real.
The plot is not quite over! But the Gods are available (albiet busier than normal) for quests, seasonal summons, and drops!
