Courage is knowing what not to fear

Calista wandered eastward along the babbling stream. Her tail swished behind her, batting at the winged bugs that nipped at her flanks. Her golden horn glimmered as it was struck by beams of light that pierced the labyrinth's canopy. Left in her wake, delicate hoof-shaped imprints that marked the moist soil. The damsel had been out all morning and the day seemed to stand still. She had wandered to this part of Helovia in hope that she could find more herbs. Collect leaves. That was all she seemed to do these days. However, she was contented by her work. For perhaps the first time since her arrival here, her mind wandered to her sister, and this time she allowed it to travel there. Where was she? What was she doing? She pictured the flaxen lady with her long cream locks, sophisticated and regal like the princess she was. There was an empty hole in Calista's life without her. She hoped that Odessa was well, and that she might find her again. The woman tried her best to be an optimist. It would be foolish not to hope, she thought. The Moon Doctor was surrounded by herbs of all shapes and sizes, which spread maybe ten, fifteen, or even twenty lengths before her. It probably stretched beyond that, but she stopped here. Tiny sprouts peeked out from the earth. They were delicate and she almost hesitated to pluck them up between her teeth. Slowly, gently, she gathered the thyme. The Edge's supplies were running low and Calista thought it best to get as much as she could before frost fall arrived. Humming a melodic tune to herself, the black-and-white woman tried to cheer herself up as she examined the plants with her velvety nose. Her work carried her into a state of focused zen. She breathed far into her diaphragm, easing out air with cool relied. Around her, the microscopic  motion of tunneling ants, wandering beetles, burrowing worms poking from the ground, foraging rodents scurrying about, and singing birds above her all completed the pristine woodland scenery. The plants she touched, the earth that she loved, all radiated of utmost beauty. She felt that even the blind could see their magnificence. Even though it was a small turn of the corners of her mouth, Calista smiled.

"Talk?"
