i'm drowning in a dream again

If you're observant, you'll notice it chalked onto the face of a large slab of sable stone. A viper curled around a dagger, not perfect but certainly identifiable despite a stylized scrawl; it wasn't anything official that you could recall in all your time here. But you could discern the meaning well enough, could you not? The implication, the message, the expectation. The blade points east toward a crude path in the thicket. Dense shafts of sunlight spear through the overhanging fronds, fat and emerald green, dappling the ground with a splash of gold between heavy pockets of shadow. A lark calls out from somewhere in the bush, but otherwise it is serenely quiet. Not even the song of the breeze outside the tunneled foliage can be heard from within. Not far back, you can see that it has partially obscured another passage, this one hewn into a large cliff base that supports one of the many waterfalls for which your herd's land is named. The cavity is roomy enough for even the Earth God to pass, albeit narrowly, and the entrance is somewhat folded away from immediate view. Inside, darkness swallows up any daylight left streaming down through the canopy arched around the opening, but after your eyes adjust you'll see a spread of twinkling stars above the mist, an entire universe smeared across the cavern's vaulted ceiling. Some form of fungus or bug, maybe even magic; whatever it consists of, it glitters down at you in a galactic shower of kaleidoscope colors, from ruby to sapphires and jades.

But they do nothing else. You allow yourself a moment to gaze upon them briefly, but you must move on; it is otherwise barren in here, glistening dimly as the muted roar of water rushes overheard above the rock. Eventually you'll arrive at a circular clearing still within the cave, illuminated faintly by the crystalline sparks above. Several portals like yawning mouths ring the wall, respectively meters apart. Two of the three are nothing but gaping holes of a Stygian bleakness; but the remaining one, the middle one, has that bejeweled banner flowing in to it alone and unbroken. Down some ways a new source of light winks ahead; following through, you'll arrive back out into the forest, only this portion is snugly secluded away. The surrounding woodland is thick and impassable, but here is avian song sweet with chirps, tweets, and whistles. Cutting through is a body of running water with low-set falls like flat rungs of a giant mountain ladder. Wide, shallow pools ming-green spill over smooth rounded edges a red-tinted brownstone, frosted and frothing like yards of white lace skirts as they pour down the myriad of broad steps.

The water is slow and lazy, muttering over the serenading birds dancing among bent trees, swirling around the obsidian hooves of a small mare swarthy like the soot of black ash who stands in the middle of it all. She is of a more petite stature, with a big pair of slightly unaligned wings but an otherwise clean-cut figure. Alert but not straining herself, she waits patiently for you and perhaps others to gather.

There had been whispers passing around of a meeting of the herd's stealth squad for a number of days now and with the growing interest to see what exactly was spoken of the grey warrior found himself walking thorough the narrow chambers. Various spots felt as if he would surely get himself stuck but somehow he slowly managed to work his way through the maze using the light of his markings to guide him through the darkness. This was the first time he had ever laid eyes upon such a spot but it was quite interesting and stunning in its own way. Kiara followed along leading the way based on Imonada's scent that was still fresh upon the trail, if not he would have been totally lost a few hundred meters back or stuck somewhere no one would find him.

Breaking from the darkness ears swiveled forward as he was forced to squint against the sudden brightness as darkness turned to light. As his eyes adjusted the stallion took in his surroundings with keen curiosity on how this place had ever been discovered in the first place. Spotting Imonada seemingly standing in wait he changed his path to go stand by her side wickering a kind greeting to the mare. It was his hope that perhaps gaining some insight into this crafty secretive part of the Fall's he just might gain some valuable information that may aid him and the warriors if there should ever be the need for another battle. It may turn up to be a complete useless endeavor but one could never consider it a failure when there was information to be gained.

She had been meditating, hypnotized by the glassy swirl of water curling around her hooves, her mind blissfully blank save for a counting mantra. It made her oblivious to the passage of time, so when Ciceron arrives the sun is slung low along the horizon, throwing tall bleak shadows across the lazy river in which the ebony mare stands before him. She snaps out of it when he comes close, hailing her in the old way with merely a friendly sound. The same instinct has her responding in kind with gestures of peaceful submission, so subtle they seem unconscious, even vestigial, as she chirps lightly.

But he says nothing and she does not either. Instead, the small pegasus merely studies him with a neutral expression, shiny black eyes haunting in their absolute darkness.

Knox was suppose to be here. Imonada had merely dressed the stage of the meeting, in desperate desire to help him; she knew of his loss, could empathize by comparing it to what she --to this day-- continued to deal with after losing her twin sister. In doing so she granted him a wide berth and no pauper's portion of tolerance. But he was still needed; she was their only intelligence agent outside him and the leads. She would push past her limits for them, but it was plain enough to see that Hidden Falls had vulnerabilities. That fear of losing her home, jarring and with so much the same bitter notes of abandonment, dampens her spirits -- she was best aligned under a watchful eye and firm hands. She was a tool, not to be left to her own ministrations. Despite the occasional bursts of grand ideas buoyed by her transient confidence, she was weak of mind on the whole; today she felt nude, amateur, and useless.

Finally she speaks to the sleek, muscular stallion by her side, whose long dark mane hangs attractively down the powerful arc of his neck. "Ciceron," she blurts out, almost awkwardly, trying to grab his attention after the bout of silence. She remembers him from a few occasions, his silver dapple and chiseled features proudly crowned by an intimidating spike. Remaining mindful of his slinky tigress, she glances at the feline with a short nod; she never knew quite how to address companions... she was inclined to treat them as sentient equals, and yet they were tamed only through their bond.

"Looks like the meeting isn't much of a meeting. Wanna go get high? I'll tell you stuff."
