After the rather boring escapade through the dirty dust bowl otherwise known as the Throat the golden boy felt close to just giving up and parking himself in the middle of no where. Things were so much easier back home when he couldn't care less where he was at any given moment time. He had no worries, well unless you counted the spontaneous episodes where demons or monsters would appear out of the clockwork and try and eat you. Things otherwise were much simpler considering there was no one that he needed to try and converse with and try and make them see sense. While it was simple for some to just open their mouths and let words spill forth that was not the case with him, he was much more reserved in his speech and took care in what care out of it on most occasions. Well... there had been a few slip ups already here in this Helovia but for the most part he had not come across any complete morons that swayed his better judgement.

Stopping to observe his surroundings the regal beast couldn't help but feel a sense of deja vu. Wasn't he just wandering through a desolate place similar to this one only a few hours prior? Guess the only difference was that this one was snow while the other was just a pile of dust and dirt. Shrugging indifferently to the thoughts he continued forward his hide standing out in the valleys of whites and grays. So was this all there was to this place or did it have a little more flare that he was just missing?

Moving onwards into the nothingness was when a mixture of scents began to pop out of the air. Ah so there were lifeforms living in the tundra he mused silently with a amused smirk. It was definitely more habitable than the dust country with the abundance of fresh air and all. Maybe this would be the place that he would finally rest his hooves for awhile and see what others talked about as being a suitable life to live. Not that he really believed that was a possibility.

The midnight girl made her rounds. She traced the edge of the Aurora Basin, legs sinking into the quickly accumulating snow. Frostfall was upon them in every sense of the word, and with it came the harsh weather and bitter cold. She was happy to find a positive in most circumstances, and in this situation, ploughing her way through the drifts helped tone her; the resistance added another layer to her daily exercise regimen. On she went, burying all of her woes in her snowy wake. She had allowed many things to weigh on her mind as of late, and only recently had she begun to shake off her burdens to make room for her next load of baggage. Everything would work out in time, of that she was sure. But she wasn't known for her patience.

In the distance, a stallion spun from gold stood before the gaping entry of the Basin. Silver eyes caught his hazy silhouette, unable to make out any minute details of the incoming visitor. She did not bother looking to the Sentinals. They were nothing more than decrepit relics. At least they appeared foreboding enough to hesitant newcomers. She diverted her rounds, approaching the stranger briskly. As she grew closer and the details of the stranger grew clearer, familiarity turned to shock turned to defensiveness as she realized she recognized the stag. It was a distant memory, but one burned into her memory. Fear and uneasiness are funny things, and have a way of imprinting certain things into one's memory. She had stood beside this particular stranger once, briefly, at the shores of the Riptide Isles. He was one of them.

Though the fae had few reservations or fears, the disease that had come with the rifts was enough to unsettle her. She had been comfortable so far to know none of the disease had settled into the Basin, but it only took one newcomer with a dormant disease to destroy the entire herd. Especially with the recent influx of foals, the corporal would not allow everything to be destroyed carelessly.

As she cantered towards him, she felt the warm fizzle of magic blossom in her breast, and allowed the current to escape her as her front hooves hit the ground. The earth rattled weakly, but she was sure it was enough to catch the stranger off guard and capture his attention. "Stranger, walk no further." Her voice was stiff, threatening, daring him to take another step. She stopped before him, ears twisted back, eyes narrow and cold. Unsure how to initiate her interrogation, she spoke the obvious. "I recognize you. You're from the new lands."

The rifts. Other than some new scenery, nothing good had come from the strange lands. Disease. Vicious gods. Death and destruction and unknown forces. "Why do you come here? You best not bring petulance in your wake."

His name escaped her, and perhaps once her guard was settled she would concern herself with learning it. But between her fear of the unknown, her worry on what he may have brought to their threshold, and her responsibility as corporal to protect the herd, she would spare no pleasantries on him until he proved he was not a foe. "State your business, newcomer, and be brief. You best be here with only good intentions, lest I return you to your makers, whomever they may be."

In his relatively short time here in Helovia the golden stag had met a decent number of new faces. Some kind, some arrogant but for the most part none had taken him as particularly overly hostile to their arrival. The odd few showed hostility to the new change but was that really their fault? It was not as if he had chosen to come here after all. He had watched others be ridiculed for their differences but what did he care, it wasn't like he knew any of them anyway. He was a lone soldier left to fend for himself in this strange atmosphere that was full of unknown dangers plus the odd monster that seemed to have followed them through the rifts. Again, not their fault. If Helovians needed someone to blame why didn't they turn to their beloved gods who had brought them all here opening the portals in the first place.

The faint feminine scent drew to him across the currents intriguing his senses before he actually felt the mare's presence nearby. Tremors seemed to shake the earth in a dull wave before things slowly settled to bring on the onslaught of words from the dark creature. Drawing himself up to defend himself against any possible attack the golden beauty fixated his blue orbs on those of his greeter. If she thought she intimidated him, she would have to think again for he had certainly faced much greater challenges than that of a angered fae. Holding his ground he refused to give the woman headway but listened carefully to what she had to say. "Ah but if you recognize me, then I am no stranger then am I?" He commented smoothly with a sly smirk.

"I suppose you could try if you really wanted but it would be such a waste of time." Thinking of what that battle would look like he couldn't help but chuckle silently to himself. Women were such finicky creatures that really made no sense to him but he supposed they were there for some reason or another. "My intentions? Well lets say they are what you consider to be good. This place definitely paints a much more promising picture than that of the desert wasteland." He replied his voice still like silk and his posture unwavering despite the brittle appearance of his host.

She stood stiffly before the stallion, but he responded coolly. It had been nearly a year since the arrival of the rifts, and spare the weeks directly following the summoning, it seemed as though all illness and threat had dwindled, and turned into a haunting memory, and nothing more. Besides, cures had been discovered, so what had been perceived as a threat previously had become more of a lesson on adaptability and discovery. Ki'irha herself had suffered, but was cured by a pegasus stallion who she had spat insults at and threatened to kill. Maybe she should learn to adapt with the times. The buck before her certainly was not responsible for the events that transpired, so why should he be held guilty?

Her stance relaxed as the stallion replied. Well, he did have a point. She still felt apprehensive, but knew she should allow him the right to be innocent. She did not want to allow fear to cloud her judgement. She was not an overly emotional girl, and therefore pushed her preconceived notions away and decided he deserved a chance. Though unimpressed by his snideness, she let some of the coldness escape her words. He thought he was clever, but his blatant disrespect wouldn't fly if he wished for access into her home. "I suppose you're right, though again I encourage you to watch your tongue." Her expression softened slightly, though she remained prepared to take action.  "You have arrived at the Aurora Basin. Feel free to take my apprehension any way you wish. I am Ki'irha, a corporal here, and it is my job to protect those who live here. I hope you understand my defensiveness, as the arrival of a your kind brought some less than desirable consequences. I simply want to be sure you are not a threat to my family, intentionally or otherwise."

She gave a curt laugh at his next statement. "Well, I can promise you a fight is not what you want. You see, we have wolves in these mountains, and I don't mean the beasts with fur and fangs. Our wolves are well versed in battle, and even if you are able to spill my blood across the threshold to my home, I can promise that what waits within those walls is much, much worse than what you brought with you through the Rift." Her warning was sincere. Again pausing her threats, she continued on a lighter note. She had never seen the desert in Helovia, and was sure he was referencing the Throat. "The tundra is a desert in its own right, but it is beautiful here nonetheless. Though frozen and cold, it is a sanctuary to all who reside within the mountainous walls. Those who live here are encouraged to take a vocation and give back to the herd, so if there is a passion in you for something, I'm sure you will find your place right away." the rank newcomers took always described them. It was interesting to see what path this stallion would choose if he joined, if that was even his intention.

"Well, if you're looking to join, I'm sure we can find someone to accept you. If you're just looking for a tour, I'm more than willing to escort you through our scenic valley." She cast a quick glance over her shoulder, wondering if they were going to be lucky enough to have an accepting member wander by. Looking back at him, her silvers caught his blue gaze. "So tell me, golden boy, do you have a name? "

OOC// Working on getting a ranking member over here to officially accept, since Ki'irha can't. It's kinda crap, but I'm trying to move this thread along for you! :)

"I would mind the ease of your tongue when intruding upon the borders of a herdland you have no knowledge of," rolled between her teeth like satin poised on the edge of a dagger, eyes bright and sharp as she meandered down the mountainside towards the starry girl fiercely protecting their borders. Alice was growling low and threatening at her side as she picked her way leisurely through the snow, head high and horn glinting as she surveyed the sharp-tongued handsome brute on her doorstep. Her lips twisted into a smirk as she came to stand beside Ki'irha, her pale locks twisting around her ankle idly. Pretty face tilted as her eyes swept across him, plainly objectifying him, finding flaw and fault and taking pleasure in each curve and muscle. "And to insult the Corporal who happens upon you?" She tsked her tongue mockingly, head swaying in dismay though her eyes were sharp upon him. "You are either exceedingly brave...or exceedingly stupid. But you seem to have procured an interest, and I stand by my Corporal's idea of you."

Her eyes moved to Ki'irha for a moment, equally amused and chagrined by this stallion standing upon their welcome mat. She spared a proud smile for the woman's passion and dedication, already liking her more than Ashamin's words had bolstered the mare. That she had turned an invasion into a potential recruit was both quick-witted and useful, and Hotaru appreciated the idea of swelling ranks and new members. She wanted to speak aloud to compliment her, perhaps form her own opinion of the Corporal independent of Ashamin's. Instead she inclined her head towards the fellow, tail whipping against her hocks as Alice's growl grew to a snarl and then cut to deathly silence, her hell-black eyes never straying from Kalona's bodice. A trio of females, each as deadly as the other, fang and horn awaiting this intruder. Would he tip the scales from friend to foe? His actions hung in the balance, and Hotaru was there to judge them, to make the choice both for him and for her family. How he intended to proceed with the meeting would indicate whether he was worthy of the title of Basiner, if that was what he so sought.

"I am Hotaru, sovereign of these lands. Speak plainly, as much as I appreciate tricks of the tongue, I do not have time for games this eve. What do you seek in the wolf den? Ki'irha has offered the options set before you, so choose." Alice snarled to emphasize the title that even Ki'irha had called the Basin by, but Hotaru's grin was warm, almost playful. She was the one with the power here, the one holding all the cards in her hand, and quite a few aces tucked away in her sleeve. There was nothing here for her to fear, and so she arrogantly cocked one hip, awaiting whatever words he deigned to share with them.

Standing before the oddly coloured mare with the harsh tongue gave the golden boy no entertainment in the slightest. What was it with people of this Helovia anyway? They either seemed to be ubber happy go lucky like that filly he had met not so long ago or harsh critiques that could not seem to get their facts straight. Blame the Gods not those that were thrown into this turmoil against their wishes. Flicking an ear as Ki'irha continued along the boring rogue bad-ass train he awaited patiently for her sentences to finish. Hey at least he managed to pull a laugh or two out of her the process. It was a wonder how anyone could go through life without finding humor in something or another.

While he was much enjoying the mare's presence and her ever so welcoming words the appearance of another beauty just made the day all the better. So it would appear that his arrival had somehow granted him a rather unexpected introduction to half of the royalty, the much prettier half if the other be just another stallion. In his age he had seen many of higher stature and had yet to make enemies with any of them, and he had no plans of starting here. Keeping his regal posture as he had deemed the proper attire for such situations over the years he dipped his head to Lady Hotaru formally before extending the same to the corporal. "You may calm your worries for I am not here to cause harm. I might simply wish to experience this world from a different viewpoint. I have scoped out the rest of the clans that reside here in this Helovia, but this is the only that has drawn my interest." He replied politely speaking to both feminine figures before him.

His eyes finally slip to the odd looking creature by Hotaru's side, a fanged beast so it would appear. They had mentioned wolves, could this be another version of the strange creatures that call themselves predators? Strange... very strange indeed.

It was true that these mountains had eyes. Some keen and murderous, some soft and warm, but eyes nonetheless that always watched, and never missed a thing. So it was no surprise that another happened upon them, slinking from the cavernous valley like a hunting wildcat. Only, the pink fae that emerged from the shadows was much more than a predator. She arrived with purpose, making a dramatic entrance at the perfect time.

Descending from on high, the Queen of the North.

Silver eyes glanced over her lithe form quickly, and the star girl gave a slight dip of her head as a sign of respect, before her gaze returned to the stallion. The corporal meant no disrespect in her lack of a sweeping bow towards the Lady. She simply did not want to let her composure crumble or avert her eyes from the newcomer. She was sure Hotaru would understand, and if not, she would be sure to grovel and apologize should her lacking be taken as disregard. It was an honor to stand next to the monarch at the entryway to their home, protecting what lay behind them. The queen was like a blade draped in silk, grace and beauty shrouding the dangerous thief and obscuring what she really was - a wolf in sheep's clothing. But she was certainly a woman the star girl wanted to stand beside instead of against, and a fitting queen for the unicorns of the north. As Hotaru settled upon the interception and stood beside her, seeming to support her efforts as corporal, Ki's heart fluttered with pride, burned with validation.

He dipped his crowned dome for her, sharing with her the same respect he showed Hotaru. But the blue remained unwavering, eyes still cold, not returning the gesture. The golden stag had been nothing but snide, and his change in affect in the presence of royalty would not replace his past commentary. "I do not worry," she began, coolly dismissing him, "I protect. Here in the north, we find sanctuary in the ice and cold, a place where few can survive. But we adapted, we are unrelenting, we are exposed to harshness and bitterness and remain unaffected."

She tipped her head, ear flicking as she heard Alice growl as she bristled near Hotaru's hocks. A subtle smile tugged the corner of her lips. Despite her diplomatic front, she was a warrior at heart, and the mere thought that she stood beside one of the most powerful mares across this sweeping land was invigorating. Deep within she was a snarling hound, bound by the chains of her masters, eager to spring into action should Hotaru give the order. But despite the endorphins and adrenaline that flickered through her, the excitement making her heart rate increase ever so slightly, she retained her composure. Besides, it appeared as though the golden buck was not a foe nor a threat. She considered his announcement of intent, and figured she would not need to act as a warrior, so she retained her diplomatic demeanor. "Of the many choices you have had, be it the heat of the Throat, the lushness of the Falls, or the mystique of the Edge, it is remarkable the frozen north has piqued your interest." Her knowledge of the other lands was quaint. She had only accumulated details from those she had met in the Threshold. Her love for the Aurora Basin was unrivaled, though she had no doubt that the terrain and climate left much to be desired for many. "But that doesn't mean the Aurora Basin has any less to offer. Lady Hotaru has the final say, though if your interest is genuine, I am sure you will happily find your place among our ranks. Many who join us here chose a vocation, a way to pay back the sanctuary you will receive here. Is there something you can offer us, should you chose to reside within our valley?"

Beneath the shadow of her might he subsides, and though she knows his tongue is merely temporarily corralled into his cheek in hopes of earning her favor, the Lady does not bother to conceal her pleased and amused smirk. She enjoys his plain sass, his brutal nature. He will learn the art of persuasion and concealment, in time. Wolves did not bring their prey to the earth in their final moments through sheer force, after all. There were times to play nice and times - like now - to bare your throat to the rightful Alpha and await the forgiving tongue or the punishing teeth. At least the omega was aware of his place in this pack he sought so foolishly. He knew nothing of them but the pull of undeniable curiosity that drew him to their doorstep, and yet seemed to already be capable of holding qualities they all claimed within the den of iniquity. She merely tilted her head to the side, sly and beautiful, regarding him with a cool calm that contrasted the flicker of heat in her eyes. Interesting.

Hotaru lets her tongue rest quiet as Ki'irha steers the interaction, pride blooming like wild roses along the cage of her ribs. She never felt quite so drunk on power until she was standing with her sisters-in-arms, coiling snakes trapping their unwitting prey, until the last moment when they synchronized their venom and power alike to stop the heart beneath their control.

Ki'irha is as dangerous as she is proficient, and Hotaru is proud to call her Corporal as her tongue lashes fact against the pretty face before them. She has no drive to speak just yet, observational. A silent, imposing force until the conversation lulls. She can feel the tension in Ki'irha, the promise that if Hotaru simply gave the word, the star-struck lass would leap for the fellow's jugular. Blood would stain their doorstep and they would walk away unscathed, for a wolf would die before allowing an intruder one step further into their den.

And a mother wolf was always the last standing, guarding the treasure of her pups and her family.

But perhaps this brute belonged among them, if he could stare into the gaping jowls of the hound and still prostrate himself before them.

"If you've a mind for the grey of morality," she speaks sultrily, bicolored eyes blinking slowly down upon him, "If you know the importance of power and family..." Hotaru swayed ever closer to Ki'irha, a two-bodied machine of destruction cloaked in feminine beauty. "Then perhaps there is a wolf inside you after all." Horned head tilted with a pleased smirk curling at the edges of her lips. "Cross the border, then. If we have what you seek, then give yourself to us. And we will give you all of our might in return." For Ki'irha was right, everyone had to supply something of their own. There were no slackers in their herd, but Hotaru doubted this fellow would prove to be one. And if her eyes glinted playfully, enticing and almost flirtatious, well...perhaps he simply intrigued her.

OH GOD I SUCK SO FUCKING BAD I'M SO SORRY
