It is a Man's own Mind
not his enemy, nor his foe, that lures him to evil ways

Ambrosius wondered what it was that anchored him to these lands. They no longer existed as his home, no longer gravitated his presence, and yet he found himself unready to abandon them just yet. The shadow beast had been dormant when his herd had needed him most, and guilt had settled in his gut to the extent that he had grown angry with himself. Had these lands every really been home? Had they ever been more than a mere place of residence? Truthfully, no, but he had still pledged his allegiance to protecting it from outside threats, to defending her borders, and he had not withheld that proclamation.

He moved like a wraith through the enveloping haze, his dark silhouette shrouded behind a thick veil of fog. Soulless eyes stared stoically ahead of him, each movement laced with brusk finesse, each muscle pulled taut with deliberation. Were he to be seen by a member of the Qian, he would likely be persecuted, but it mattered little to him. Perhaps he was looking for a fight, a channel in which to convalesce his penance. He hated it. It made him feel weak, vulnerable. He stood atop the terrestrial boundary of the World's Edge, peering down toward the thrashing waters many feet below. Waves crashed violently against the rock face, and the beast waited, silent, inwardly anticipant, though for what, he was not certain.

However he was not alone, moving through the fog. A young paint of brown and white moved as well. The young knight had been named a protector, and a skilled one at that. Surely the invasion had shown him many instances in battle that he would have to be ready for and work on. Then again, a grin came his mind at the thought... He did help send the former residents running with thier tails tucked. As he moved, the warrior looked for any signs of unfamiler hoofprints and unfamiler smells. It did not take him long to find one, and set off following it like a hunting dog would go after it's prey. Ears laced back as he realized just how far in this intruder had made it. The safety of the herd was the most importance.... But in the back of his mind he wanted to find the stranger before the stranger found any of the young ones with thier mothers... particularly his new baby sister...

Even with the fog, it did not take long for Aaron to find him. His coat was shaggy due to frostfall, a light mist clinging to his fur. Brown eyes narrowed as he stood tall and spoke "What business do you have this deep into the Edge?" His ears were focused forward, watching the brute look out over the cliffs. The waves crashed over and over against the rocks below.... Should it turn into a fight, the knight knew he would need to stay clear of the edge.... Unless he wished to meet an early demise.
