She had taken her time after leaving the World's Edge and its Leads' sides, allowing her nerves to calm as she wandered and tried to learn more of what the land held. She could not yet say that she had found anything of interest, but how would she even know if she did? She had no ideas of what was or was not revered in those parts. Elsa had briefly mentioned that the different areas were ruled by gods, but the starry girl had yet to come across anyone else who spoke of them. And she never pressed for answers.

She went in the direction the white queen had motioned to previously, and thought back to the words spoken. She would need to find Gaucho, the one who would help her. They were said to be open to welcoming her, but she carried on in trepidation, careful to not get too ahead of herself. Through the passing time she began to have doubts as to whether she should even be searching for her memories; maybe she had lost them for a reason. Maybe the things she experienced in the time after her escape from slavery were worse than what still remained. But still she pressed on, resolving to gain back whatever she could to find out who she was, what she had made of herself. She only hoped she wouldn't be disappointed.

It grew warmer the further she walked on, until she decided perhaps an aerial view would be suit her in finding the so-called desert. She bunched her hind legs underneath her body and pushed off hard, wings flapping in great effort to get lift. She missed the feel of the wind around her body, through the feathers, pressing against her. It was easier to see, too, from that height, so she kept her eyes on the ground searched for any signs of terrain change.

She was rewarded rather quickly, as the grass grew more sparse and a brilliant, golden bridge shone ahead. She wasn't sure what it meant, but she knew where it led; she slowly eased down to stand at its lip, not daring to cross into parts she wouldn't be welcome. She would wait there, at the entrance, wings folded up tight and gold body shimmering beneath the sun.

The desert nights were brittle and cold, which meant that the coming of the sun offered the only remorse from the chill of Frostfall. It had risen high in the afternoon sky after slipping over the cliff that shelved the Dragon’s Throat up against the violence of the ocean’s tide. To Essetia, it was less forgiving than the land by the sea, but of course, the Edge was also shielded from the bitter waves by a drop that outshone too many others throughout Helovia. As the spy wandered the vast borders of her home, she occasionally cast a dubious glare out across the blue of the ocean and imagined how strangers chose to see such a sight. Did it intimidate them as it had her? Or was it just another beautiful concept that they chose to surpass while on their way to lives outside of her home? Was the Dragon’s Throat just another mystery that went without answers?

Beneath the very same sun that turned aggressive under summer’s influence, Essetia’s rich coat shone a bright and unequalled red. Somehow the deep bay of her father’s genetics couldn’t surmount to the intensity of the southern sunlight, and it made Essetia feel more a part of a new and engaging future that overlooked the darkness of her past. She’d grown thick on desert fruits and the tall grasses shooting up in the Throat’s heart- a true rival toward her own former glories. She didn’t miss the anxious thoughts of dread and worry that had once plagued her after the invasion of the Falls. Instead, she felt strong… and somehow at peace. Her brethren had done that for her and they were slowly (but surely) becoming an integral part to her recovery.

As Essetia and her wolf meandered the worn track around the parameter of the island, she also imagined the many warriors walking the very same path daily. She’d never seen such an adamant bunch of soldiers and had never felt more secure within their stronghold, even if she often risked both tongue and limb when taunting them. Yet, there were others such as Ampere that had more than gained her respect through simple conversation alone. At times she did question whether or not it was respect or admiration, but either way, she sought to please them through whatever task they deemed worthy.

As if by chance, the spy’s musings were interrupted by a glint of starlight. It took her a moment to understand where and how such a fluttering of beauty managed to pierce through the brightness of the afternoon sun, but upon resting a curious gaze on the creature perched outside her borders, Essetia paused to deliberate. Was the Pegasus a friend or a foe? Did it matter to her? For a moment, she was content to merely stare before finally pressing onwards toward the bridge that would ultimately bring them together. The key that Ghost had given her felt heavy against her neck and, when she was near enough to entreat the bridge to fall to formation, she crossed quickly without the former fascination she possessed for its magical properties. Romul too fell to heel alongside her and Essetia greeted the other mare with a low, inquisitive rumble. “What brings you to the south my friend?”

During her travel she had struggled with the motivation to keep searching for what she had lost. She hated desperately to put out so many wonderful acquaintances that crossed her path, all the work they had to do simply for a stranger. How was it fair to them to help someone they didn't know, someone who could give nothing back to them? She had nothing to offer, not even words, and so the journey seemed quite pointless to her; would starting over really be so difficult?

But the thoughts that invaded were cut short when she spied a figure--two, one smaller--at the opposite end of the bridge she stood before. She wasn't sure whether to feel relieved or tense, afraid... afraid of what? Perhaps being sent away. Some part of her honestly did want to get those memories back.
The bridge began to move, descending into place to allow one to cross. She stared in wonder, uncertain how a simple mare had been able to command it to do such a thing. As the bay approached, however, she spotted the key lightly swaying against her chest and Serenity suddenly understood the importance of that herd's precautions. They were protecting themselves.

She took a tentative step forward to place one hoof upon the bridge, testing it as though she didn't believe it would hold her as it had the other. With the introduction of words, however, she snapped her attention back to her new-found company. Her sight was rested softly on the wolf, thoughts traveling back to Elsa and her Edgar. "I came from advice given by Elsa of the World's Edge. I was told seek Gaucho; that he could help me?" Before divulging too much of her problem, she gave the slightest debriefing. She then turned her golden eyes onto the one who approached. "I am Serenity." She bowed her head subtly, in greeting, in apology for intruding upon their land and taking the woman's time.
