The Seaside; while it was quite a common place to find this bronze boy, the waters edge certainly was not. The sand that made up the seas carpet soaked every nook in his cloven hooves, the rising tide threatening his fetlocks. The idea of swimming to the Riptide Isles had never been a great one, but how else was he to get there? This lad was not blessed with wings or any sort of magic besides that of his rank thus far, and so would have to make do with the legs and (hopefully) buoyant body he was blessed with.

Would the group he was expected to meet at the islands make it safely though? He recalled one mare lucky enough to own a pair of pennons but another who was not. Tiva her name had been - hopefully her journey would be safe. Finally he mustered the courage (and effort) to step further into the bitter oceanic waters of the Halcyon Flats border; Soon he would be swimming in a no-mans-land between the Helovia he knew and the Islands he was yet to explore. Craning his neck, Tilney used his porcelain teeth to unbuckle his green cloak from around his breast and tossed it gingerly over the highest prongs in his antlers; This would give it a much lower chance of getting wet and causing any kind of drag as he was swimming. The palms and vines, the volcano, cliffs and rocks towered above him - all that separated him from the islands was the salt water gap of sea.

Tilney took it one push at a time, kicking with each hoof through the fresh salty water. He was unlucky to have arrived at the tides highest point, but the swim would not be a long one at all. All together it was the least favorable time of day and time of year; Frostfall robbed the ocean of much of its charm including its mild temperature. Tilney often enjoyed a swim, but not when the water was this cold. The risk of Hypothermia was high, and the threat lingered in his mind as he swam. The bronze mans muscles began to jam and jelly the closer he came to his destination, the archipelago towering over him like a wonderful, natural city. Finally, a marble cloven hoof scraped the sand on the sea floor - he had made it to the shore!

Trembling against the winters winds and chilled, exhausted bones Tilney struggled up the beach. So far he group he was hre to meet had not found their own way here yet; He would find shelter close to the organised meeting point and hope they would find him. Clambering through the sand the lad easily caught sight of a lonely cave at the foot of the volcano, shielded by vines. If he took shelter there he surely would not be found, so he pressed his left hoof into the sand and dragged it as he walked, drawing a large arrow in the foreshore pointing to the caves entrance. Hobbling, he wandered into the caves embrace. Settling just past its mouth he whispered a soft "Aiya" to light his lantern in the hopes off warding off the onsetting hypothermia.

i am a leaf on the wind

She is somehow not the first one there. Probably because she dawdled just a bit (aka, got slightly distracted and lost on the flight there). Lyanna has spent a lot of her time trying to find her way around Helovia, but still, while she may know there are islands somewhere, she’s never heard the name of them. It’s still something of a guessing game, putting it all together. But at least she has the advantage of being able to scout of her companions from the sky, and decide if she’s made it to the right place.

Finally, soaring somewhere over the ocean despite the winds that cut through her winter coat, she spots a stallion with a green cape over his head (antlers buried beneath), swimming toward the island. It’s the best beacon she could have asked for, and she adjusts her course just slightly so she can land in the area where he’s come ashore as well. She’s reasonably pleased that it didn’t take her overly long to find the place, and that she didn’t get hideously lost. With time, it will all feel normal. But still, she hates being so terribly ignorant of everything.

A cold gust of wind shoves her off course slightly, and she frowns, truly missing the days when the wind was at her command. She rights herself, realizing her green beacon has disappeared. Of course. Still, she lands in the place where she’d last seen him, looking around until she spots a line dragged in the earth. Following the line, it doesn’t take her long to figure out where he’d gone. There’s a cave not far off, offering shelter from the cold. And for someone soaking wet, that was probably much needed.

She follows the line until a faint glow catches her eye. Hesitating on the edge of the cave, she lets out a nicker, adding, “Tilney?”, waiting for his reply before venturing in. With her luck, she’d accidentally stumble on a monster. Not that she has any idea if there are monsters here. But still, better safe than sorry.

watch how i soar.
