Growth. It was a freaking pain in the neck. And the legs. And every joint, muscle and bone throughout the body. Now, Erthë was accustomed to pain. It had been her constant companion for over half a year now, and while she had found ways to combat the worst symptoms - which of course led to other symptoms in their stead - she found the condition mostly manageable. Growth pains however... not even the red petals of a poppy flower could completely combat the deeply rooted ache that permeated her physical vessel. Sleepless nights and uncomfortable days led to a steady worsening of her mood, where hyperenergetic highs succeeded deeply depressive lows and even the best of days found her erratic at best.

Still, she had to admit as she studied herself in the rippling reflection of an icy pool, that the resulting effect of these pains didn't turn out half bad. She was no Ophelia with long legs and breathtaking clean facial features, and definitely no Nyx with luscious, almost sinfully ripe curves... But at least she didn't think her parents would have to be ashamed of their only daughter. The horns were growing out nicely, her wings had finally shed all the last baby down and if only she could lose the puppy fat and gain an inch - no a hand or two - in height...

"Yeah right, you wish. And the moon will turn blue and fall from the sky too."

The slap of a hoof into the pool shattered the reflection and sent icy droplets flying through the air. Again and again she beat the water, erased every instance of self she could see, until her fuzzy late-winter coat dripped and icicles had begun to form in the hair.

Like that would ever happen! No, she would remain a midget for the rest of her life, people would continue to look down on her and forget about her existence, and she would go through the remainder of her life with no purpose. What was even the meaning with becoming the Seer's apprentice when she never saw him and wasn't given a job to do!? Was it merely an empty title, handed out with an indulgent smile in order to placate a troublesome child? Erthë would decline that kind of charity - if she wasn't needed then there were other things she were better off doing with her time. Like... like... well just because she couldn't think of any didn't mean there were none!

Restless and quietly seething she shuffled through the knee-high water to the other side and climbed up the brink with some difficulty. With a violent shake she scattered the heavy water from her coat and noticed with distaste how clumps of loose hair littered the sodden ground once she was done; eft behind on her butt were deep craters, where pink skin still waited for smooth, silky summer fur.

"Hopeless!" she muttered sourly. Everything was hopeless. "Pathetic, useless, hopeless."

If only she had something to shoot at. Or better yet, someone.
