Kianzo was going to be so angry with her. This wasn’t the first time the filly had slipped away from the golden colt. No, this was the third time she had slipped away without being noticed. Fourth if you count the interaction of Kiada sneaking and following Albrecht – to having Kianzo stealthily following her on top of it. You would think she would’ve learned after the first time being caught by the dark princeling to never turn her back on him again – but she couldn’t help it. She had a sense of wanderlust deep beneath her breast bone that didn’t seem relevant for her twin. She constantly wanted to run around and look at everything the world had to offer her, but Kianzo felt more calculated in making sure that wherever they went had a benefit to himself. And she couldn’t have that.

He had been so angry when she left with cousin Romina. So angry when she had left him again for the fawnling filly that Kiada considered to be her best friend. And it had caused her to grow angry. The flames flickering across her back were vibrant as they formed wolves with clacking jaws, the teeth gnashing together in forms of surprisingly bright light. She danced across the Basin to the woods beyond the unfreezing lake, her companion in tow as he flopped around on the rocky ground beneath them. Usually, he found comfort on her withers or hanging onto her mane. But he was starting to figure out how his legs worked, so he began to hop and hobble, jump to and fro to get his bearings right, clicking his beak with a venomous clink as he bounded to the edge of the woods in search of tiny grubs to fill his tiny cotton-ball fluff belly.

She sank herself by a nearby tree, bright eyes observing Khairi as the little vulture hunted his prey. His feathers were beginning to grow in, slowly but surely. He looked strange and silly in his disproportions, but she admired the pride that billowed from the little chick. She only wished she harnessed some of it to be able to be as mad at Kianzo as he was with her.

But Kiada wasn't alone in the darkened woods of the Basin - and not just because her hatchling companion was with her.

Ru'in had found out that if he stood very still, he could turn to stone. Perhaps that's a misleading what of putting it, because what happened to his body was by no means under his control, and so even to phrase it as turning to stone, the way one might turn a handle, wasn't quite correct. A better way to put it, was that when the boy stood very still, stone-ish-ness happened to him.

It quite roll off the tongue the same way, but it was more accurate.

And accuracy mattered. At least to the mutant boy.

Standing beneath a tree was a statue-esque looking thing in the shape of the mutant boy that Kiada had met earlier. Only his dull white and cream eye moved. Every other inch of himself, including his massive amount of growing neck, torso, and stomach hair was held in place; dusted by a thick layer of stone.

The boy didn't mind regarding the world from this position. If anything, it allowed his mind to focus on the things his eyes saw rather than having to be distracted by the movements, noises, smells, and feelings of his body. He liked the latter least of all.

And so, as the princess-girl watched her companion hunt, she was likewise watched by Ru'in. She was the one he had pushed, citing poor balance as the reason for her fall. Had she bought this excuse? Ah, he doubted it. But with Ashamin there to stare down her and her brother, what more was there that the pair could have done?

To use his magic to push her again would be lunacy, for his experiment would be derailed immediately.

So he conducted a different sort of experiment, one of observance, wherein he would remain motionless, a ruined ru'in statue observing the girl and her hatchling, and see how long it took them to observe him.

I think he's like actually incapable of speaking first :| :| :| :| sry. @Kiada

As she laid beneath the tree comfortably, the filly watched her companion waddle to and fro, plucking innocent little bugs and grubs from the earth and from tree bark upon occasionally. But Kiada soon grew bored, watching her companion feast. For she was still learning to not lean on her mother so much anymore, trying to feed for herself instead of being so reliant upon the golden Thief for her liveliness. A small sigh passed her, and she began to glance around. Her tiny tail flicking along her flanks, keeping the bugs from getting herself even more so. White rimmed ears, flickered to the varying sounds around her and her companion. It was so quiet and it was so boring.

Standing on not as wobbly legs, she shook the dust from her ink dipped pelt. “Let’s go.” It was a mere mumble slipping from her pink splotched lips. She lowered her head gracefully to the ground, allowing the tiny white vulture to slip up upon her back. She waited until the creature was situated before meandering on further into exploring the woods, watching the way the branches dipped and rose creating dappled light upon the Basin floor. She let her oceanic gaze drift from the sky to the floor and back again before something simply peculiar caught her attention.

Was that a BUTT? The filly had wandered around, picking a random direction until she spotted it. She bounded herself and her companion over to the boulder with a bum and peered closer at it. The body was dappled by the sunlight and as she moved further alongside the mammoth statue, she peered at its face. All the anger previously had died down, replaced by the familiar curiosity of something new. Especially a boulder with a butt. But when she rounded around to the face, she began to recognize it. The tusks that protruded from his lips and the large eyes that set in his face. Her eyes narrowed as she looked upon him. Before when she had met Ru’in, she was small and leggy. Now she had filled out a bit further, gained curvature around her hips and chest while her white forelock and ebony mane began to grow in a bit thicker. She let her gaze wash over the statue for a moment with a sigh. “I guess Ru’in’s fancy enough to have his own statue, huh?” She nearly pouted, speaking aloud to her bonded as she tore her ink dipped head away from the statue. Why did he get one and she didn’t? Favoritism, she imagined.

Ru'in didn't want to turn his head or even allow one of his ears to rotate towards the oncoming sound. Despite the fact that his ears were stone, he could still hear. That in itself was rather interesting. The boy knew that it was magic that made his body harden the way that it did, but apparently he wasn't in fact stone at all, merely a stone facade. Interesting.

He heard Kiada's approach, and how she scornfully regarded him as a statue. Any other foal might have smirked at this deception, but such things were not interesting to Ru'in, for Ru'in only cared about the deep inner workings of the universe, and he could use his magic to manipulate it. What girls did in their free time and whether or not they wrongfully identified him as a statue was petty. However the milky white eye closest to her did revolve slightly as the mutant boy tried to see how far down he could look without moving. But, like anyone who tries such a thing his head did move a bit, and as it did so, the stone almost seemed to fade away slightly revealing Ru'ins mottled coat beneath, before firming up once more.

What is that? He thought of the pale creature that sat atop Kiada. Was she its way of travel? Or was it a companion, like his mother and father had? Theirs though, were large and proud creatures, not passengers upon their bodies. Unintentionally, the boy winced at the thought of being a vehicle to any other mind, and once again his stone facade broke revealing his body hidden behind a veil of stone-texture.

Holy crap.’ Kiada stumbled backwards as she noticed the large beast move. He moved slightly before but she had missed it, too caught up in the frustrations that sat within her chest at the fact that the boy was so wonderful to have a statue of himself already made – but she had been wrong. He was the statue. As he moved, her ink dipped legs scrambled against the ground of the Basin’s woodlands as her heart lept violently in her chest. Immediate, white cupped ears flicked backwards as she bared her teeth at him.

What are you DOING?” She screeched at him. If it wasn’t enough that he pushed her over in the fields that one day, where the strange stallion with the silly looking horn had come to Ru’in’s rescue, here he was giving her a heart attack by simply being so weird. Her ears lay flat against her ivory striped face while Khairi chirped angrily at the colt, wings spread in a show of intimidation (if only it worked on colts that turned to stone) and even still, he let his dark eyes seek the mottled colors that made up the fawn colt.

As soon as Kiada recovered, she stood to her full height once again. Nowhere near the height of Ru’in, but she did her best to try and stand tall. Using what she had learned from her encounter with Thranduil, she puffed her chest out at him and lifted her head tall as she planted her dark hooves into the earth beneath her as if a dare for him to try and push her over again. “How’d you do that?” She demanded, flicking her tail again as her eyes sought his.

Her screech of disapproval - or at least that's how it sounded to him (maybe it made more sense why there was a vulture following her about; it likely was impressed by the ugly cadence of her voice in moments like this, since it was so similar to its own call), rang in his ears. Immediately he pinned them back against the sound which only furthered the degradation of his magic. Stone gave away, revealing the monster boy beneath.

Ru'in slow blinked towards the filly with her ears flattened against her skull, and the bird with its wings fanned out. His tri-horned skull tilted slightly as he regarded them, clearly a look of what are you doing? spreading across his features. The boy knew nothing of intimidation yet - or at least, all he knew was that usually he intimidated others, but never had he felt the sensation himself, and today was no different.

As the girl puffed up her chest, Ru'in continued to stare. Only his stare was not in the shy way that other boys likely used when looking at her - stealing glances when they thought her eyes were upon something else. No, his bi-coloured gaze was fixed firmly on her chest which she had shoved out, then rising to her straightened neck, and finally to her, what? What was that look on her face? Determination? Confidence? He couldn't quite be sure. The only expressions he knew were those of Roma's.

How’d you do that?

Another slow blink. "Bhy bheing stihll." Ru'ins voice was almost always a growl, perhaps there was something wrong with his throat to accompany all the other abnormalities he sported? Never the less, because his lips had to stretch to form the words, the sounds he made sounded thicker than they ought to have. Still, his gaze bored into hers patiently, if not with a touch of amusement as if to say something I"m sure you know nothing about. For after all, being still meant keeping your mouth closed, and from what he had seen of the golden filly, such things were not her strong suit.

As if to prove a point, stone back to line his shoulders, back, and legs as he stood looking down at her.

A frown found her pink splotched lips as she watched his stare. His bi colored eyes just blatantly staring at her up and down. If she was older and had more of an inkling as to what men did so obviously, she might’ve been upset. She didn’t want to be considered eye candy for anyone other than her brother. But even that still didn’t sound fun. She was just being herself and being herself meant to be very much like Romina in the act that beauty and grace went hand in hand. The two would be a firestorm. And with that in her mind, she looked at Ru’in in a new light.

His growl came rough and primal and she actually smiled at him. Of course standing still would do that to him, she saw that when he stood without moving, how the illusion returned to his body. She stepped back from him then, flicking her tail toward him slightly as she turned slightly away, letting her gaze seek his own out once again. “That makes sense.” She admitted, as Khairi began to become more comfortable, situating himself along her withers again. She let her white rimmed ears flicker to him briefly before she looked out across the ground of the woods once more. “Did you know we’re cousins? Romina told me that Auntie Ru said that.” She began, shifting her ink dipped head slightly to gaze upon the twin of her best friend trying to register what he would think of them being related and family in some way. The flames that lined her back shifted back into simplistic deer with antlers flickering and reaching for the sky as she waited.

It would be silly, really, for him to say they weren't. For Kiada would have to go find Romina and tell her that Ru'in didn't believe they were cousins. In which case, she hoped that the fawnling child would take her side instead of her brothers. But in a situation like that, if Ru'in were her brother and Romina had come to her with claims he didn't believe - would she have the right mind to agree with the stranger of the family and oppose the one that shared a soul?

Was she .. smiling at him?

The boy blinked. No one smiled at him. No one other than Roma. Everyone else tried to keep their eyes off him, and when they did have to look at him, it was the visual equivalent of holding ones breath to quickly pick up something smelly. But she seemed to be smiling. Not knowing how to react, especially without Roma here to tell him, Ru'in frowned slightly, his brows furrowing with confusion.

That makes sense.

Oh. He hadn't expected that either. Normally the things he said rarely made sense to anyone - either because of how think his voice was, or because he didn't take the time to explain the context of his thoughts. Alright then.., he thought, his frown disappearing. At least he wouldn't need to explain.

Did you know we’re cousins? Romina told me that Auntie Ru said that.

...

..

..

processing. processing.

..
..
.

error. does not compute

And it really didn't. Partly because Romina told him everything that he needed to know, and partly because it seemed so strange. Ru'in's eyes narrowed disbelievingly, though quickly moved to the shape of the deer prancing on her back. Was that supposed to reinforce the idea that Romina had been the one to tell her? Or to suggest that the way they were related was on Ashamin's side?

He didn't believe it, but if Romina had said .. Mentally he marked the filly, for the boy took his sister's word as gospel, and if this girl was using her name and slandering her words, he would return for her.

"Ahlright." He agreed, nodding his massively horned skull. He wasn't exactly sure what he was suppose to do with that information, even if it was true. Family meant little to the boy - the only family he truly cared for was Romina. She was his everything, the rest of them merely shared his blood, but not his love.

Not for the second time, Ru'in's eyes darted to the firey creatures on his cousin's back. A thought seized his youthful mind. If those flames gave off heat, they could potentially be useful in the machines that he made ... he could make a moving creature for Romina! The colt's muddy and pale eyes moved back to the bright spark of Kiada's gaze. "Ahrr those flahmes hawt?" He asked with genuine interest, his voice sounding much softer now and less like sand paper.

She waited, watching with bated breath as he took in the information Romina had given her. Bright oceanic eyes scanned his stone-like face aside from the parts that moved where the stone illusion had washed away. Her tail twitched slightly as the Dorobian princess waited to see if he would cross her information. But no, instead she was pleasantly surprised with a growly “alright”. She would’ve nearly pranced in place with her excitement. The deer continued to flicker all while Khairi buried his cotton-ball self further into her as if he could escape the annoyance of the two twins’ conversation. The filly said nothing as she watched his eyes trail to her back where her emotion magic was vibrant, flickering and bright.

Are those flames hot?” She heard in his gargled muffled voice. It was softer this time, more curious and not as rugged as before. Was she getting somewhere with him? She might have been, but she knew that her flames were useless, harmless, if not for showing the world every little feeling she had at any given time. A small frown crossed her face and she turned her ivory striped skull away from him for a moment with a shake of her head. “No, I wish it did. It’s harmless and it’s stupid.” She muttered. Then she began to wonder if he would believe her. So she turned back to him then and slipped closer to him – avoiding personal space in its entirety. She was very close now, and if she wanted to she could reach out and touch him – likewise he could touch her if he wanted to as well, she didn’t care. “You can see for yourself?” Kiada cocked her head to him with another charming smile.

She was jealous of Ru’in and Kianzo. She was jealous at the fact that the male twins of the two sets held so much power and magic. Kiada and Romina were left figuring out how to prevent the world from seeing their emotions on a platter while Ru’in pushed things over with an invisible force and Kianzo paralyzed and crushed opponents with a cloud of ash and flame. Why didn’t they get graced with magic that could be used offensively? When she had to hunt for Khairi, she had to do it the hard way or beg Kianzo to trap something for him when he was younger. She hated being defenseless, and hated being so emotional in the first place. All she wanted was the same opportunity as Kianzo and Ru’in – to have magic that could bring people to their knees if she wished it so.

Ru'in wished Romina was here. He needed her to tell him what he supposed to make of this oddly striped girl. She had spoken to Romina and Roma shared information with her ... Roma only did that when it suited her, and so there must have been something about the ocean-eyed princess that Roma needed. But what? And what was his role in this? Would Roma instruct him to treat her as all of the others, or would there be a special set of rules for this one, this one who conversed with his twin?

No, I wish it did. It’s harmless and it’s stupid Ahh well. There went that idea. Ru'in's blocky skull nodded understandingly - lots of the magic that occurred within Helovia struck him as being stupid, and he wondered who it was he might thank for giving him gifts that weren't ornamental or arbitrary.

But those thoughts dissipated because suddenly she was moving. Moving into the space only ever occupied with Roma, or by his Mother and Father when they were feeling as though he was in need of their physical affections (though he never was). Ru'in's head rose slightly as if impending danger were coming his way rather than the downy back and shoulders of a filly. Things happened inside of himself, things he couldn't quite explain, other than to characterize them as the sort of heat that he had just inquired about - the heat he thought might come from her flames was suddenly inside of his belly.

And that didn't make any sense at all.

Except maybe that heat could be transferred?

Lowering his nose and exhaling the breath he had unknowingly been holding, the boy's tusked skull lowered. His tusks didn't quite touch her back, though if any of her hair was standing on end it might have done. The boy's eyes grew intense, and suddenly a glob of bronzey material appeared above her topline. It formed into what appeared to be a butterflyish looking thing, with a gear in the middle connected to its wings. If there was the type of heat coming off of her body that he felt in his stomach, then it would turn the gear and make the wings move.

The boy waited.

Nothing happened.

As it turned out, the stirrings of puppy-love within a mere boy was not hot enough to power even a butterfly.

How disappointing.

"Youh ahrr right." He concluded, and moved the small butterfly towards her face, where she could see what the desired response was. Exhaling, as if his magic came from deep in his throat, an energetic breeze pushed past the girls' mane and forelock, to move the gears inside the bronze insect. As the gears turned, the wings began to flap gently on the artificial breeze.

It's said she's made of storm cells
and a wild wolf's hungry heart
As she moved closer to him, she noticed his head lifting – what was it? She was an innocent child, practically begging to be noticed by someone other than her twin in strange ways that she didn’t know what they meant quite yet. One day, sure, she’d learn. And she’d use it to her advantage, much like her mother had done for many years before Helovia. She’d learn how to use it to get where she wanted to be, despite how many hearts broke in the process. But for the time being she was an innocent filly just toying with the primal instincts that lined her insides and beat against her golden chest. And when she stopped beside him, she felt the anticipation grow within her like condensation. Growing, growing, growing until finally she felt the gentle breeze of his breath as it raked across her back. The flames flickered, shifting from their original shapes of deer to take on an approach she hadn’t even thought of before. They shifted, and instead of taking on the familiar form of wolves with gnashing teeth and wide set jaws, she felt his breath and they shifted into a fox.

They stood serenely along her backside, long orange tails flickering with light as they danced in a display of power, strength, and showing her innocence with an alluring hint of instinct as it raged through her chest. She felt her back shiver with the feeling as his tusk brushed by a piece of her ebony mane as it stood along her neck as Khairi began to bury his face further into the tufts. Her head swiveled to him, unable to see him very well but able to see the broad muscles that lined his neck and chest already despite being only a bit older than herself. But where Romina was small and lithe, Kiada had been filling out. She was broader, stronger looking, with longer legs and a larger muscular body that was dappled in an almost opalescent sheen as the light flickered across her spots.

And as they waited, nothing was happening. He hadn’t officially touched her and she found it to be almost agonizing in this wait. But when she heard his words it sent another tiny shiver down the filly’s spine. Then she spotted something glinting in the corner of her eye as she looked upon his mottled coat. He moved the object further into her sight, aqua orbs taking in the sight of the beautiful bronze object. She felt the gentle push from him – nothing like the rugged pulse from their prior meeting that had her off her feet. No, this one was gentler as it brushed her mane aside, tossing her white forelock from her inky face with little care. She watched the object, drinking in the moment and the scents around them as the tiny gears began to move which in turn caused the wings to flap. Her eyes widened briefly as she looked at this tiny metallic object, ivory tipped ears standing attentive at the tiny machine. “That’s so beautiful.” Kiada’s voice was a mere whisper on the artificial breeze. She wished she had the power to make it move. She suddenly found herself wishing that she could anything other than the things she were gifted from birth to at least be useful. She watched the object for a few more seconds before turning her head away, reluctantly pulling her eyes from the tiny bronze object toward the ground. “I wish I could’ve helped you make it work.” The voice that came from the filly was almost defeated, a new tone that she hadn’t quite experienced out in the open yet. She didn’t move from him, then. She stood, head lowered slightly as she cursed herself for not being graced with being useful.

Perhaps other foals might have reacted awkwardly at having one of their creations praised, especially by one of the opposite sex standing in such close proximity, but Ru'in of course, was not like other foals. Instead of blushing shyly or trying to brush off the accomplishment, he nodded his blocky head in genuine agreement.

Beautiful and delicate things after all, were among his most favourite things.

"Yahhr." He agreed, his voice a soft rumble from deep in his throat. Only his body thought to equate his comment, the beautiful butterfly, and Kiada, his mind did not. Though his mutated and possibly increased hormone count might have had an effect on his body - making him grow larger, and grow faster than he ought to - his mind was still maturing at the rate of anyone else. A more suave colt might have said, Not so beautiful as you, and perhaps offered the bronze insect to the girl as a gift, or at the very least made it dance about her, but Ru'in only agreed and let the butterfly continue to hover before her.

He might have had the time to realize that she was still standing quite close to him (Roma certainly wouldn't have approved), were it not for the fact that she began speaking again - a sound which drew to it all of Ru'in's attention. Now that she had proved herself adept enough to understand his magic and appropriately call his creations beautiful, he wasn't as quick to disregard this filly as he was at the beginning of this meeting.

She was family after all.

I wish I could’ve helped you make it work.

Again, his skull bobbed and his eyes appeared thoughtful as he agreed. "Me too." But there was no hint of disappointment in his voice as there had been in hers. And for some reason, the boy decided to share the reason why. "Naht evun mhy majik kan make it lhast." He continued almost as glumly. One day perhaps he could force the kinetic energy into its perpetual state, but for now, he was nothing more than a strong breeze or a good push.

As if to test to see if anything had changed, Ru'in again focused on the butterfly. A cool spark of energy billowed once again past Kiada towards the small gear-centered thing, but then the stream of energy grew hotter. The air moved faster, and before Ru'in could stop it, the delicate wings of the butterfly snapped off and the mechanisms holding it together failed. The bronze bits of the creation fell to the ground, shimmering like golden rain in the dappled sunlight.

Ru'in roared his displeasure. One massive three-toed foot rose and slammed into the ground as he bellowed yet again. His ears flattened against his skull, and his eyes narrowed to furious slits. The mutant boy took a step backwards away from Kiada (presumably so as not to hurt her, though it was surprising to think that the boy had that much forethought) as his head rose and his tusked head thrashed with fury and frustration. "ARRGHH." He roared again, a colt's cry of fury amplified by Ru'in's deep tone of voice.

Her ears flickered as he agreed with her. And after she admitted she wished she could’ve helped, he also agreed to that. Kiada’s ears twitched away from him for a moment while she read deeper into his voice realizing he wasn’t blaming her. Not like Kianzo might have. No, he didn’t blame her but he hoped it would help his creations. And before she could think about continuing on with the thoughts swirling around her mind, he explained why. That his magic couldn’t keep it going. This fascinated her. She lifted her head and nodded solemnly to him. It was almost a relief that his magic couldn’t do something. She was internally pleased by this for the moment as she began to watch him with wide bright eyes as he attempted to get the wings to work once again.

A soft breath and there it went, flapping further and stronger until he couldn’t stop it. It snapped and fell to the earth at their feet and Kiada felt her heart shiver with sadness at how something so beautiful could be so broken. And Ru’in, he was angry. As a roar erupted from his throat, he stamped his large three toed feet against the ground stepping away from her. A frown found her pink splattered lips, but she wasn’t frightened. She had dealt with a lot of anger from Kianzo. He would always apologize after, but she was still the one that was the reason for his anger. But she wasn’t the reason for Ru’in’s anger, no. She had nothing to do with it, so why would he be upset with her?

Still, she slipped away from the close proximity of the mutated colt with ears drooping in uncertainty. She moved to face him instead of alongside him, lowering her ink dipped muzzle to the earth where the shards of bronze lay as dust that was not coming back. It wasn’t really any of their faults. So she turned her attention back to her cousin and offered him an encouraging smile. “Hey, its okay. It was an accident.” She called to him, shifting her weight on tiny black legs. “You just gotta practice with it more. Romina and I were practicing ours. You should keep practicing too.” She nodded to him, mentioning the fact that Romina and her had been practicing keeping their emotions in check. Both of the girls had emotion related magic, but they were fiery souls that would do anything to show the world what they were made of. They wouldn’t let some emotional display ruin that for them. So she encouraged Ru’in with the words of his own sister. “Practice makes perfect.” She reiterated from Mother before stepping closer to him once again. “Make another one! Figure out why the other one broke and make this one better than that!

Her voice, since it was not Roma's voice, did little to soothe the beast. He should have known better. Did he always break that which was beautiful? Did he always manage to find a way to fuck things up? Of course he did - it was one of the reasons, aside from his obvious hideousness, that Roma was the only one who loved him.

Hey, its okay. It was an accident. The snarl on his face remained. Was it an accident? No, this was merely the boy being impulsive and not controlling himself. Why had he tried to extend his magic? It was because of what the girl had said. He had been trying to comfort her, in a sense at least, by demonstrating that his skills too weren't adequate for what he was trying to do. In that regard he supposed that he succeeded. By why had he even tried in the first place? Altruism was not something that normally rolled off of Ru'in's tongue.

Romina and I were practicing ours- At this, Ru'in's eyes widened and his head snapped downwards to regard the filly with a weighty interest. Roma... She never practiced with him? (In truth, this likely had more to do with how emotionally inert Ru'in normally was, and how that likely wasn't the best setting for controlling emotional magics). Again it seemed Roma had allowed this filly to know more about her that her twin would have suspected. But still, without her around, he didn't know what to make of their connection yet. Or what his connection to her ought to be, despite the fire now simmering in his belly (which had dulled almost immediately as she pulled away and turned to face him).

"Shew me." He said, his voice an intense stream of rumbling syllables. He disregarded her suggestion to try again, for his mind had fixedly stayed on the words she had spoken before. Romina and I were practicing ours- If Roma saw fit to practice her magic with this filly then ... then surely it was worth witnessing? Roma certainly seemed to have thought that it was.

Not for the first time during this conversation, Ru'in's entire focus was upon Kiada. His bi-coloured gaze studied her intently, wafting from the foxes trailing in energetic plumes on her spine, to the way her splotched pink lips pulsed and shifted with her every word (and perhaps even some that remained unsaid).

There was a kind of intimate feeling that overwhelmed the filly as his eyes snapped to her. She continued to smile through it, at least do her best to rage against the fire that fluttered within her stomach when he actually looked at her. And when she heard his rough voice again, he had asked her to show him how. Kiada looked away for a moment, unsure how to show him in this instance. Romina and her had spent a lot of time working with their heightened emotions of anger to change them to where they didn’t appear to feral. Kiada, when angered, showed vicious snakes and wolves along her back that Ru’in had seen once before. Romina, when angered, her antlers illuminated with a bright light against the gentle opalescent hues.

But as she felt his eyes bore into her as a whole, she turned her ink dipped head to look and see what kind of animal was on her back for the moment. The feeling within her had caused a unique animal to appear – one she had never seen along her back before. These foxes were new, and Kiada associated them with the burning sensation in her chest and fluttering in her stomach. She turned to look at Ru’in briefly again, knowing that he was the reason for the strange feeling within her. And if she were to show him how she practiced containing it, perhaps she could start there. “Okay.” A soft breath to him as she let her gaze drift back to the mottled tusked colt in front of her.

She noticed that the closer she was to him, the worse the feeling got in her gut. The worse the feeling got the more practice the filly would get with trying to contain the thoughts. On dainty ebony legs, she stepped closer to him – a similar proximity as before if he would allow her. She turned somewhat to the side so he could see her magic as the foxes flickered brighter and more fiercely as she approached. She closed her eyes then, focusing on pushing the feeling away – and while it stayed reminiscent, she tried to mask over it. She tried to take the innocent feeling from before with her emotions, when she talked about Romina and her family and use this to try and create the deer along her back. It was difficult for her, trying to push the feeling aside. They were emotions after all. Hard to mask and fake.

Kiada focused further though, working harder in the moments it took to get the feelings to shift. By this time a thin amount of sweat began to bead along her buckskin pelt, dampening along her withers and the stripe that ran down her spine interrupted by the plumes of flames. Eventually, finally, she got the feeling to subside. The flames flickering to regain the deer that had been there previously. It formed them in a regal view, antlers held high to the sky. Yet, when Kiada opened her eyes to see if it had worked, she exhaled a sharp breath she had been holding in. Her sides heaved slightly trying to catch up the missed air that slipped from her lungs before her control didn’t last much longer on the deer.

And just like that, the burning sensation returned – the deer had been swallowed by the foxes once again.

Unlike the girl, Ru'in's mind switched easily from confused hormone mode to scientific focus. Which for him was likely a blessing. For, objectively speaking, the longer he allowed the fire to be stoked within his belly, the more problems it would cause between he and Romina in the future. He was hers, after all, and every stolen glance towards Kiada - or any other filly - was an assault on the sacred bond (read: servitude) that he owed his twin.

For now, Ru'in was ignorant of all of that. Despite the silent sensation of guilt that accompanied the pleasurable pangs of heat, Ru'in hadn't yet learned to associate pleasant feelings towards members of the opposite sex with betrayal. Even so, for now it was probably best that his attention was diverted.

Kia stepped towards him, verbalizing her willingness to do what he said, and his eyes locked upon her back. The background of his mind, the place where coals still stirred and burned, noted the curl of her back, where muscles had began to round out her figure. It noted the shapely way her body conformed to her movements, and the way the dappled sunlight changed the colours on her pelt. The front of mind, the scientific part, was focused only on the foxes and how they danced and shimmered.

For a moment he wasn't sure what was supposed to happen, and then suddenly they changed. Foxes gave way to the regal form of a deer, and Ru'in heard himself inhale suddenly. Deer after all were quite close to his stoney heart, for they reminded him not only of his family, but of his twin too. Was that why she had conjured this particular image? Was she reminding him of their familial bond?

Her breath leaving her lips focused his attention back upon her rather than the abstract images of her magic. The boy too had been holding his breath, and as she released hers, he released his own as well. His bi-coloured gaze roamed over the foxes, and his tusked head tilted slightly.

"Do yew cuntrohl the shapes?" He asked with a boyish, eager curiousity, his gaze pulling away from the foxes to try and search out the oceanic depths of her own eyes.

Oh how she hoped she could’ve controlled the magic longer and better. But no, it was something that would be difficult for her to learn to try and work with. She didn’t want to grow up to be this great ruler that couldn’t keep her emotions in check. After all, what she knew of the stories that her mother had told her, was that great leaders had a level head and mind. She was sure one day that she could accomplish that – but it would definitely take practice and time. She was thankful for Kiada, then, and Ru’in for having her show how far she’d come, even if it wasn’t very far yet. She was still young and had a while to learn about these things.

Suddenly, as she released her breath she turned her head to look upon the tucked boy. He released the breath that he had been holding too and he began to view her. Not the shapes along her back, not the companion that bobbled across the ground as he looked up from a far too large beak. He was looking at her and it began to stir a fire within her. Perhaps under his gaze she grew a little uncomfortable, wondering if parts of her were growing in strangely or that she wasn’t filling out the way she was supposed to, but all those thoughts were pushed aside when his curious voice reached the ivory rimmed ears that cupped to hear him better. His eyes reached hers and Kiada sighed softly, looking into his own bi colored eyes.

Slowly, she began to shake her head solemnly. A small amount of shame beginning to resonate as the shapes shifted from the fiery foxes to tiny turtles crouching within their shells. “No.” She began, shifting to face him better. “They change with how I’m feeling. Like when Romina’s upset how her antlers flare up.” She explained, hoping that the reference to the boy’s sister would help him understand what it was like to have a power you couldn’t control unless you learned to master the internal war that constantly raged beneath the surface.
