It was difficult, the differences in dealing with her twins versus dealing with her first living child. Rein was so calm, collected, cool, temperamental much like his father and much like herself as she was beginning to find out. But for some reason, she found it hard to deal with Kiada and Kianzo. They were so similar, and yet so different. Like their appearances, they were sun and moon. Kianzo, loud and brash, straight to the point. Kiada, calm and collected, sweet no matter what. At least as far as she’s seen. The Thief didn’t quite know what Kiada was like outside of being under a motherly watch. Was she as brash and loud as Kianzo when he wasn’t around? Did she aspire to be so much more than what she was? She remembered once telling Rein that her mother was a Queen and how her father was a warrior, some sort of nobody and it ended up putting her through years of torment and hell for it. But would her twins have to deal with the same thing? Their father is a King and here she is a thief, truly a nobody in her eyes.

She strived, but strived in the wrong areas. She strived, but she strived with the wrong idea of intentions. She strived to be so much more than she was, as she always had, and she ended up here. Still no one after so many attempts. Perhaps it would never change.

And so the Thief found herself wandering among her thoughts toward the misty tropical land of the Isles. She hadn’t returned here since the fight, when she had been suffering the lasting effects of the Green Labyrinth Lung – a horrible disease that Tembovu had seemingly thrown in her face that perhaps if she had followed him to the Edge that she wouldn’t have suffered – that she wouldn’t have mistaken him among her sightless eyes as the man of her nightmares. How many times would he continually force her to follow him, guide under him, be put through so much mental turmoil to simply be a follower when she was trying her damnedest at being a leader. And nobody had seen it before her.

Perhaps she was a fool for thinking she could become somebody.

She stood beside the water’s edge, head lowered toward the small river that ran rampant between the dottings of islands that laid out the new addition to Helovia. She looked upon herself in her reflection, a sad woman with goals unachieved and unachievable, with bright blue eyes slowly losing their spark as she contemplated what she was really doing here in Helovia aside from populating it with faux love.

The ocean is always going to be her home. It’s something that she’s discovered in the time that she spent taken so far away from it. It holds onto and pulls at her, takes her hand with one of its own, and uses the other to collect both of her wrists when she is seemingly comfortable, proceeding to throw her viciously and effortlessly into a fray that she is beginning to believe that she is doomed to.
She loves the sea, but she is sure that it doesn't love her back. The ocean loves no one, not even itself.
There are no bones in the abyss that she can see, and Hobgoblin is glued to her side through the entire trip, propelling himself gracefully as she feels that these trips are going to become less often. From the Throat, the trip is a lot longer than it seems, and transversing the endless streak of dry flatland that offers a shorter trip in response makes her stomach coil. Her home desert has mountains, stones that raise far above her head and wildlife that makes itself known without regards to those living there, yet the flatland has nothing. It is empty in the way that makes the world seem like it's much larger than you originally imagined, that every star in the sky is now an eye pinpointed to your location.
She questions how others manage to make that damned trip, how they don't die in the heat and become lost in the vastness, desperate for water and possibly food that happens to never come.
Sand lets her hooves sink into its moist mold before hardening into a body that makes both of them stumble and sink with less grace than before. Hobgoblin momentarily snarls at the heat of it against his soft underbelly before changing entirely, black legs letting small paws flick grains into her honey coloured coat. He makes it to the vegetation before she does and wastes no time in stopping, bolting onward so that her gait must change to match it.
From there, the rest is a blur, lost in time and space, swallowed by thoughts and the endless sway of her body as she pushes through trees and vines and flowers along paths woven into the mass of the jungle.
The occurrence of a river is pleasing to the pair. Beneath the canopy, the sunlight doesn't strike her hide as harshly as it typically does, leaving her spared from burns but still having the faint, lingering scent of aloe vera with her. Thirst dries her throat, and she looks ahead to see Hobgoblin is already beaten her to indulging in the sweet, cool water, dipping his paws as his body sinks. Her head dips mere feet from him, and she sips, both cursing and thanking the gods that the water is cold as it punches her in the gut.
She can't help but feel that something isn't right, and while something is coloured to not fit their surroundings, she is too busy with her personal needs to put too much attention to it. Hobgoblin could deal with predators. She has nothing to worry about as her head raises, water falling from her dampened maw.
It isn't exactly a predator, she discovers. Her attention is set onto the small mare as she stares into water. Splashing hums in her ears as she watches her brother move in their company's direction, hunger encouraging him to hope that there is food where she is staring.
"Are you okay?" Concern hints at her voice as rocks click against her hooves, pushing herself with the current to move slowly towards the mare. "Is everything alright?"
Hobgoblin scolds her for her concern for complete strangers with a burn of anger fueled by annoyance. There are no fish, he's checked and now discovered, disappointed and salted by it. She takes the time to remind him that he could have easily taken a small shark out in the reef near the shoreline, but gets no response in return.
Typical.

OOC: Hobgoblin is in his black Serval form.

The Thief sighed, letting the sun dapple her already gilded dappled hide. A slight heaving of her sides that had begun to look normal once again after holding two lives within it. She was partially thankful for that, looking upon her reflection. But she still carried the wariness in the creases of her eyes, the light that was shrinking each and every day that she was banished from seeing her lover, and the onyx scar in the shape of a “C” that marred her hide. Despite the fact that her bruising was gone, her memory remained intact. And besides spending nearly half of her life escaping the harsh cruelty that she had suffered back home under previous coupling arrangements, he had still managed to find her. All while she had thought she was safe, she wasn’t. A day didn’t go by where she wasn’t safe anymore. Whether it be from Calstron, or the blushed Pegasus in the Edge, or the argumentative spawn she had birthed. She was far too exhausted to begin to care.

She barely even flinched when she heard a sound approaching. Almost mentally preparing herself for another equally shameful scar from Calstron – since he seemed to always know where to find her – but as the sound approached it quickly began to splash and turn into ripples that effected the nearly still pool she stared into. Her eyes flickered over to spot a mare she didn’t recognize and what appeared to be her companion. She didn’t pass much of a mind to them, instead figuring that perhaps if she stayed still enough she might be able to avoid being seen. But that’s a lot harder to do when you’re nearly white with gold chains crossing your body that sparkled and flickered with each movement of light.

Of course it didn’t take long for the two to notice Rexanna. So she lifted her head, trying to plaster a smile across her exotic striped face for the barrage. The companion came first, a feline of sorts with surprisingly long legs. She watched him for a moment before the mare’s words reached her ears. They flickered toward her as she began to turn her head to the other champagne mare. “Oh, yes. I’m fine.” She admitted, trying to keep the mask of the smile upon her face. “I’m just… exhausted, is all.” Her ears flickered as the honesty seeped through her lips. She took a moment to let her oceanic gaze survey the mare before she let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding in. “I’m Rexanna.” She offered to the mare, feeling the smile place itself easier and easier every time she tried, as she focused on the other mare her thoughts began to disperse back to the abyss where they had always came from.

She studies whether she chooses to admit it or not. The other mare is exquisite, a mark of beauty and uniqueness on a dull landscape that amasses into nothing more than a growing sea of green with hints of blue when it can push its way through. Gold blankets the top of her body that is coloured like snow. Paintings of black claws climbing her cheekbones and black crying from blue eyes as if she had held her downwards for a long period of time as it fell.
Frankly, Sikeax has never seen someone like her and is captivated.
Hobgoblin laughs at her. No one will ever be enough to capture his attention entirely, no matter in what way that they choose to stand out. His eyes find not a single soul special, unique, whatever you would like to define it as with one word. Everyone is someone different, another person he has to look at when he doesn't want and someone else who is going to look at him and possibly ask another damned question about how he change his body around into something new.
A fish swims by and he leaps into the air to capture, self-absorbed pleasure budding in his chest as the slickness of its scales touch the sandpaper texture of his tongue. He will go hungry no more.
A smile is drawn out over the mare's features and Sikeax can feel herself begin the process of questioning what it means. Her features don't change to meet her thoughts, but if they had, she would have knotted her brows into wrinkles and let her eyes darken with confusion. Worry would have dropped her ears into a submissive position, hanging at the sides of her head.
The motion in her ears is exactly that as she's told that Rexanna is nothing more than exhausted. A planned collision to the effort forced into the journey given at reaching the isles.
"Would you like to find some place to rest?" The feeling of oddity is becoming increasingly overwhelming, but possibly today is a day in which the simple rules of life and survival turn their noses up at the world and make the choice to look away for a spell. Hobgoblin would waste no time in reminding her that she could walking into dangerous territory if his mouth wasn't full of flavourful fish and his head swollen with his pleasure.
Rexanna. What a different name, feminine yet with the touch of power to it. She likes it; it's almost as odd as her own, falling off into a category that can't be easily systematized.
She carries on with her slew of personal rule breaking. Rexanna is tired and probably doesn't want the stress of her avoidance to name giving, yet alone the select chance that it may add some suspicion to her presence. In the Throat, her refusal to break out her name was met with distaste that she had been fast to overcome. They could live, but there must also be times of exceptions.
Now is one of those times.
"Sikeax." Her name kisses the rain like the salt on the ocean air. "But you're welcome to call me Sia if it's easier." On occasion, it does cross her mind that by possibility that her name is a difficult one to push off the tongue, but she has always been partial to letting the nickname follow her own name if the situation isn't one to be considered formal.

Would you like to find some place to rest?

Ivory ears flickered with the sounds as they reached her. Rexanna mulled the question over her mind, slickly replacing the dark thoughts that surrounded her mind more and more with the question of possible innocence. Perhaps she said yes, followed this mare she knew nothing about to a resting place only to wake with her throat slit by the ice blue horn that situated upon her brow. It may have been a solace once, a way to silence the voices that reminded her of how much of nothing she had been from birth until now. Back when she thought she might be nothing more than a servant. Oh how the times were simpler then. But times changed, and with it, mindsets. Where she may have been trusting once, probably trusting enough to follow this mare to the great unknown, she wasn’t willing to anymore.

Finally, Rexanna shook her head to the champagne mare with the same forced smile. “I’ll be fine, thank you for the offer.” Her voice was gentle, soft like chimes on the wind as it carried to the other mare. And as she spoke her name as per normal introductions, she mare seemed to hesitate for a moment before speaking. Her lips moving gently as the words slipped from her lips. Sikeax. Nodding lightly to her new acquaintance, the Thief paid no mind to her companion as he dove for fish. She avoided looking at him this time because of the loneliness she felt within her chest when Marembo wasn’t nearby her. Instead, he was off with the troublesome children of hers doing his best to not get killed by either them or their companions. Perhaps one day she could trust them enough to not send half of her soul off with them. Nevertheless, Sikeax continued on and Rexanna allowed her gaze to stick to the features of the mare as she listened. “Sikeax is a beautiful name.” She added in, shifting her weight slightly and causing her birds cage of chains to shift with the movement. She hoped she pronounced the mare’s name right. So she studied the mare’s face for possible confirmation for mere moments, locking down the idea in her mind that if she was upset with how the Thief pronounced it, that she’d stick to just calling her Sia. There was no need to offend strangers, and she was going to do her best to not do so.

Rexanna tore her gaze away from Sikeax to look upon the sky briefly as a cloud began to pass over the sun. The slight relief from the sun that poured like liquid gold from the leaves above them was a solace within itself. And she turned her head back to the mare, keeping the smile on her lips as it became easier to keep. “What brings you out here?” She questioned, relaxing her posture some as she cocked a hind hoof against the ground, heavy horned head tilting to the side causing her dual toned mane to trickle like waves against her ivory neck.
