The Seer had been quiet as of late, within the misted grove he had dwelled, collecting his thoughts and tending to his duties. Alune had found the events of the Meeting to have left a sour tone within his gentle though complex soul, it had caused a ripple upon his starlit waters he had not encountered in a very long time. In some ways, it had reminded him of the Temple of the Oracles, when they bickered back and forth. It reminded him of the Great Council of the Two Moons, when the Queen, himself and her advisors stood within the white stone walls as they talked deep into the night. Except, they had done so with controlled chaos, they never turned on one another with vicious abandon when one did not speak as the others.

Helovia was different, he had to remember, but it did not mean he would simply go along with the tide. He did not stand upon such a lofty position as he once did, but what power he did have, he would use for good in his own court among his devoted. He would not have them savaged as the pregnant mare had been, the moment her words had left her lips in disagreement.

So, stood beneath the crystalline statue of the Goddess he stood. Head held high and a determined but gentle look upon his features. He had words that needed to be said, tasks and direction to give out and see that it was followed. "FOLLOWERS OF THE MOON, YOUR SEER CALLS TO YOU." His cry carried upon the mist, a bellow to be heard by all within the Edge. An unquestionable summons to all those of his dominion to come to him, there was no room to debate and idle back and slide.

She came unbidden, because she wished to be nowhere else. From the mist she emerged like a breath of winter, a premonition of times to come. On hooves as lithe and delicate as the first layer of ice upon a lake she tread, with easy grace that somehow overlooked the heavy limp in her gait.  With each measured stride the dew froze upon the aged strands of grass, crafting each into a marvel of light and shadow that glistened and sparkled in the soft glow of a bronze acorn in her tail.

Erthë smiled happily as she went to stand by her teacher, and there was a brightness to her spirit as she greeted him that had not been seen for a very long time. Those who had known her before that dreadful day on the Flats would recognize the spirited foal that had laughed so freely with complete strangers, before the dark clouds of grief and pain had enveloped her and dimmed her light. Perhaps everyone else would find it odd, unusual even, to see her so alert and cheerful.

"Long time no see, Alune! It's great to be here again, you look so well!" The young mare reached out to press her neck against his in a fond embrace, confident that he would not be repelled by the coolness of her touch.

"Is it alright if I sit in? I know I don't hold a rank yet, but there's something I just have to tell you."

Grinning widely at the Seer Erthë awaited his assent before settling herself in beside him, leaving enough space so that there could be no doubt who it was that had called the meeting. As always he made her feel even smaller than she already was, like a speck of a star next to the vast mass of a moon eclipsed. In this case it didn't really bother her; Alune was a goal she wanted to reach, not a foe to compete with. Some day, in a distant future, Erthë dreamed of standing where he stood now and rest assure in the grace of the Goddess.

But she didn't need the title and rank to feel connected to their dark deity. She had a secret now, a secret she was dying to share with her mentor. Truly, she wanted to let the whole world know how blessed she was, how happy she felt and how bright her future suddenly seemed. Filled to the brim with giddy anticipation the young Valkyrie waited impatiently for others to arrive, curious to see how many would turn up. She didn't know how many there were beneath Alune's seat, had no clear picture of just how big part of the herd there was that devoted themselves to the service of the Lady.

It would be interesting indeed, to learn who she would work with, come winter and her ascension into adulthood.

She felt torn. Torn between giving up and moving on. She carried with her the constant pain of heartache and the lingering, though ever-dwindling, feeling of hope. So elusive it could be, but she gripped tightly and dared not let it escape her.

And in that moment, as she pondered her future, she heard a call. Herd life was strange, she mused as she gathered herself and moved towards the sound. She readily welcomed the distraction and as the black mare picked her way through the trees, careful as ever, she turned the words of the call over in her mind. Followers of the moon, such a poetic thought, called forth by their Seer. She felt like an imposter. Every step felt wrong but she forced herself forward still. Dread swept over her, the heaviness of it causing her grip on Hope to loosen, but she would not let go today.

Muscle memory pulled her forward and she was thankful she’d come across Alune’s haven once or twice before, or she’d have surely missed the meeting. Those broken eyes of hers were ever a hinderance, but she knew where he’d be and knew how to get there. It was one of the very few things she felt sure of and she was thankful for that much.

And, despite the dread, a quiet whisper of excitement rushed through her. She felt the edges of herself quiver with the hint of anticipation and she wondered what curious customs would unveil themselves to her as she “infiltrated” this meeting. She slowed to a stop as she drew near, but aimed to linger just close enough to not be a burden.
