When were they ever asleep at night?

The Haruspex's cave was desolate, the mirror swirling and beckoning and holding unimaginable, terrifying realities behind the exterior of its facade. Sleeping in the same room as it perturbed her, so in the middle of night, she left it's company. She stepped from the cave with the ever loyal Altair by her side, their diadems lustrous in the moonlight.

She planned to not venture far from her cave. Her intentions were to look at the stars, and wander around the Basin until she grew so weary she couldn't stand. But minutes, hours went by as she meandered through spruce and pine, the harbinger of sleep never coming to pull at her lids and quiet those desperate emeralds.

When she passed by the sentinels posts, she paused. Despite the soft, chill kissed breezes that whistled through the pines and firs, the Basin felt lifeless. With its inhabitants silent, dreaming the autumn eventide away, her home was dissonant. Impulsively, the Haruspex slipped back to the sentinels rudiment, bidding them a silent farewell, see you at dawn.

And so, Frost ended up amongst the snow of the Steppe at night. She meandered through ice covered rocks and billowing clouds of sleet. The wind pulsated, rising and falling every so often, pulling at her hair, whipping it around her face, and then dropping it as rapidly as it had picked it up. A multicolored river of stars waved silently, eerily above her. She sighed at their presence, lying down in a heap of mane and planets and snow to watch the lights dance.

She wondered if they ever felt lonely, too.

Open! had some frosty muse so I thought I would put this up.
