I feel lucky, with the worst luck.
As more gathered and Kisamoa began to speak his introductions, the scarred mare stood quietly and watched. Her eyes refrained from looking around the group, seeing all the interactions between loved ones and friends, refusing to let that get to her when she was tasked with helping the creature from the ocean. So she worked with her best temperament to keep her eyes ahead, listening for the challenges he’d offer. As he spoke of the coral reef, her ears piqued to him in far more interest. The creatures needed visitors? What an odd request.

Though, as she gazed upon the creature, she began to imagine that the scars that sat upon her face were nothing to creatures that lived far beneath the waves unable to have seen sunlight in some time. And so, she watched as others grabbed the seaweed and began to dive under. Originally, had she been her old self she would’ve refused – proclaiming of a life for herself, and how it was such a foolish thing to do. But in her adventures and the events that had occurred to her, she began to be uncaring. If he planned on drowning them down there, would she have the urge to fight back? Probably not. She imagined she’d allow it.

And so she stepped up to the plate, grasping a piece of seaweed between her heavily mutilated lips and breathed deeply before getting into the water. Though she swam for a few moments, gaining her bearings mentally and physically before taking a larger breath of fresh air and plunging into the depths below.

the language of waves

The mare’s attention, which had not yet wavered from Kisamoa—her intense and unblinking stare transfixing his scaled and morphed body—was finally broken by another. Her ridged face snapped toward the being that had approached her, overlarge eyes glaring into his equally yellow, sclera-less pits. Her gaze, after staring into his for a prolonged moment, moved beyond his red-tinged face to asses the rest of his body. His build was muscular, but did not boast the over-muscling of a trained warrior. He was taller than her, and a tail filled with spikes loitered languidly about his hocks. Her gaze lingered on it for a moment—it reminding her slightly of Rohkea, her cousin that Vjanta (the picxeto Tiger Goddess) had separated her from when she fled the Akvo for Helovia.

Like this man (he was speaking now, ”You look a little salty”), Rohkea had boasted spines along his tail. Most of him had been covered in spines—though he had been anything but prickly in personality. Her face fins flared for a moment, before slapping flush either her neck as she tried to reel in the sudden influx of memories.

Instead, with a slight undulation of her ridges and buzz from her rattling tail, she focused on this speaking man. “Yes, I am salty. I am de la maro,” her deep, throaty voice answered his comment impatiently, bladed horn motioning towards the roiling waves behind her. “And you are not, ŝarkito,” her tone was terse as she named him ‘little shark,’ for his horns along his crest were like their fins.

And then her attention whipped back to Kisamoa as he began to speak, talking of appreciating the sea. Her head rose proudly, fins flaring and vibrating around her face as he spoke—though they faltered as Kis winked at her. Why was her heart suddenly pounding? She was merely standing still. Yet it raced as if she was in the middle of trejnado.

But any thoughts of her chest fled as Kis spoke of a reef deep below the surface. Her head cocked slightly—she had hunted these waters, diving deep for ligurioj. But she did not recall this reef he spoke of… But, then again, she knew better than any present how vast the ocean was.

So, with a sideways glance at the ŝarkito to see if he would dare to test the ocean’s depths, she slipped naturally beneath the waves, keeping abreast with Kis as he dove deeper, deeper, deeper.

Fuck yeah you can.” And the filly, already excited at the prospect of havoc, was absolutely titillated at the bad words that fell so lacksidasily from the mare’s lips. Mother would just die, and the filly was pumped.

”You there with egg,” the filly’s attention whips away from the awesome, buckskin lady to the winged, horned colt that was suddenly talking to her, ”Who you?” The filly cocked her head slightly, bright teal eyes narrowing at the staccato of @Arakh ’s speech pattern. Her gaze is drawn to the idle rustle of his wings—though he was younger than herself, he was nearly just as large already, so petite was her form and so leggy and stout was his. “I’m Larue. Who’re you?”

Her lemon-freckled face curved in a mischievous smile as he asked her opinon of the sea-man, “I don’t know but she,” her candied horn gestured towards @Shida as her voice emphasized in awe, “Is gonna blow some stuff up.” Excitement shone in her eyes as she danced on her rose-thorn hooves, accidentally sidling closer to the colt and brushing her smooth, candied skin against her grey coat.

She started away, looking from her shoulder to his, before hastily covering up her awkwardness, “You can join us!” But then her changing attention snapped to Kis as he began to speak. Her small jaw dropped open—people were going into the water? "Even if that shit works, who wants to go down and sing…” The filly nodded vigorously in agreement, fluffy forelock flapping. Though water did not melt her as heat did, it still was not comfortable to be wet.

“So what’re we gonna do?” Her pert voice question the mare, tail whipping in anticipation around her haunches. And then she looked at Arakh questioningly, “Are you going swimming? Or are you staying?”

Her perked ears could barely make out what Kis the Sea-man was saying. Something about the ocean, about swimming. And then others started to grab seaweed with their mouths (she shuddered at the thought), disappearing beneath the waves. Her pale eyes widened even further, trying desperately to find her brother now that fewer equines were on the beach. Her hooves shuffled on the itchy shrubs she stood upon, accidentally throwing some sand up her leg and resulting in a distressed bleat erupting from her chest.

Her horned head snapped down to fearfully glare at the pinpoints of bright white sand that gleamed against her dark grey skin, before whipping back up to continue looking for her brother. They shouldn’t go swimming. They weren’t meant to swim. Though Esi often bathed in water, she rarely let her hooves leave the bottom. And this was salt water—it was dirty and left a film of grit across the body when dry. Not like the cleansing freshwater of her home in the Edge.

Her nostrils trembled as she searched, her panicked eyes missing more than they caught. So she had passed over brother-calf at least three times before her distressed gaze finally focused on him. “Rak!” was her scream above the wind and waves, but her terror constricted her throat and strangled the volume out of her voice. “RAK!” She tried to outstrip her fear with another scream, but it was futile.

So she hovered and tentetively took a step off of the Sandivy shrubs and into the dune’s deep sand. A shudder wracked her body as it touched the skin above her coronary band, forcing her to halt. “Rak,” her cry was a whisper, tears now springing from her eyes as she was help trapped away from her brother by her own fears.

Kisamoa gives him a charming smile and, for all his mismatched teeth, it does slightly mollify the Elephant’s unease. Not entirely, but partly. That is, until he explains the ‘fun’ he intends for Helovians to have. Swimming? Beneath the sea? To the depths?

No.

The Elephant King had tried swimming once. When he was an adolescent on the Great Plains. In his fearless and indestructible youth, he had sought to learn to swim during the rainy season. (Because when else was there water deep enough to buoy up his strapping frame?) The rains had flooded the dry riverbeds, and Kiuaji had (repeatedly) cautioned him against it: Didn’t elephants sink?

They did, in fact. And it had taken five Dorobian warriors to pull his great body out of the turbulent waters. The Elephant had not sought to revisit swimming, since.

So, it was wary eyes that he fixed the Earth God’s cousin. He did not trust Kis. Despite his smiles (or perhaps because of them). But there were others who were grabbing seaweed into their mouths and disappearing beneath the waves, following the mismatched, blue body. And he shook his great head to himself, eyes searching the shore for this that stayed. But there were those that he cared for disappearing beneath the waves.

With a sigh that immobilized him, he shifted to his elephant form. Then he moved towards the seaweed and grabbed a larger piece (to be safe) with his trunk, placing it into his mouth. Shuffling into the waves, he lifted his trunk high above the surface. He followed Kis and his motley crew of Helovians for as far as he could while still being able to breath through his trunk above the water’s surface, not entirely trusting the seaweed in his mouth. And then he halted, eyes open against the sting of salt water as he peered after those disappearing in the deep.

fear the vulture and it will come. fear nothing and you are the vulture.
He had been preoccupied, as always, by the luscious vision of women. The gargantuan stallion had been in seventh heaven since Kis’s previous appearance. It seemed that the vutlure’s ‘dry spell’ was finally at an end, with both Aelfwine and Raeden suddenly giving him the attention he had sought since arriving in Helovia. But now, as his large hooves landed heavily atop the dunes, sending up a spray of sand that immediately tangled into the feathers of his legs, he was alone.

And he sought to remedy the situation. Immediately.

His thick, tawny limbs struck out a two beat gait towards the gather of equines, just in time to hear Kis, the good fellow who was the harbinger of his recent success with the fairer sex, was speaking of breathing beneath the waves. Wait. What? His self-assured steps faltered, raptor eyes sharpening on Kis’s congenial smile before the man disappeared beneath the waves. His brows raised and his head cocked in a combination of thought and disbelief.

And then he shrugged and bent to scoop up some seaweed in his mouth.

“Not everyday a man gets to fly beneath the waves,” he said with a grin and a wink towards @Tiamat , a woman who seemed to belong to the sea, before taking the rubbery and salty shrub into his mouth. His lips peeled back at first from the taste—the vulture wasn’t used to having unpleasant things in his mouth. He was one interested in the pleasurable aspects of life.

But, he figured, a little disgust would be worth the opportunity to fly beneath the waves… and seeing the women float beneath the surface (which, truly, is what motivated him). So, with purposeful strides, he marched into the rolling surf, which immediately tangled and played with the multitude of hair on the beast.

He spread his massive wings, outstretching the feathers, before plunging beneath the turbulent breakers. Flapping his wings and pumping his legs, he pursued after the group of Helovians disappearing into the deep at Kis’s strangely mismatched heels. The vulture had to admit, the sensation of water passing over every nook and cranny of his body was pleasant. He grinned roguishly as he swirled in the water—but not yet trusting the seaweed to take a breath as he continued to hold his breath for as long as possible.

Watching the crowd split into two camps, those who stand hesitant or else in full denial of Kisamoas words and those who snatch at the supposedly magic seaweed and dive into the depths of the ocean, the old stallion wonders if Helovians really are just that that stupid. "I think these idiots have no imagination." He scoffs in answer to the white faced stallion, stepping forward slowly. "They're always at zero or a full one hundred percent. There is no in between."

While the others had thrown whatever worries and cautions might silently plague them completely over their shoulders to dive all at once into the aquamarine waves, the black trails tentatively into the shallows, a hank of rubbery seaweed clenched between his teeth. He stands only a foot or two deep in the drink, the water washing across his knees and hocks as the very ends of the waves surge across the beach. He licks his lips, gagging slightly at the bitter, salty taste of the plant and watching his kaleidoscope reflection on the waters churning surface. If the creature is lying to them, he won't be among the bloated, disfigured bodies rising from the oceans floor this afternoon.

Holding his breath, he dips his muzzle into the water until it rises midway up his skull, mouth and nostrils completely submerged, but eyes and ears and horns - with their seemingly permanent adornment of ball python - still safely dry. His emerald eyes flicker back to the beach and the handful of naysayers shuffling there, and then he inhales.

Many come, though she does not pay attention to them. They are not of the sea, though her attention does drift to Aquila as the mare breaks out of the surf. The seahorse does not seem to notice Syrena, though the seal-gray mare doesn’t blame her. It is so rare the sea Is noticed in Helovia, so rare for creatures like them to fit in. Aquila has more at stake than even Syrena does, because for that mare, perhaps her home still exists. Perhaps, at least, there’s information about the place the seahorse comes from. Not that Syrena thinks of these things. She simply dwells on Kis, attention focused on him in a way it is never focused on others.

She does not doubt him. Perhaps she should. No, certainly she should. But how could she bring herself to ever doubt the sea? Even a version of the sea made of trash and scraps. Even a version of that sea that is entirely capable of lying. She doesn’t care. He is still the sea, and she is still tied tightly to its depths. Besides, if she is being perfectly honest, dying in the depths of the ocean is not a terrible way to go.

Kis steps back, revealing seaweed that floats to the surface. When he speaks again, he addresses all that have arrived. He talks of a coral reef that sits well below sea level now, of wanting the residents of Helovia to visit them. She loves the prospect of a swim, of diving well below the depths, but she wonders just how he plans to accomplish this. So magic is necessary – even she cannot breath under water. There are few who can, so far as she knows.

Kis, for his part, plays it off as a joke. Something Syrena is no good at, having little patience generally and even less so now with the prospect of the sea so close. And not just a swim from one shore to the next, but truly an adventure beneath the waves. Home, she thinks. He keeps talking, revealing that the seaweed would allow them to breath underwater. She wonders if she could keep the seaweed forever – just take it with her and dive below the depths of the ocean whenever she pleased. Probably not, but still, she might have to try.

He challenges them to trust him. Ah, but it doesn’t matter to her if she trusts him or not. She will go because the sea calls, because selfishly, there is nowhere else she’d like to be anyway. Perhaps she will drown beneath the waves, but she cannot find it in herself to care about that. He dives down quickly, and though she longs to rush to the seaweed, she waits long enough for the influx of others to do so. Why? Because rushing headlong into a mass group of horses just isn’t her thing.

She’s on the shore, waves lapping at her feet, long enough to hear a familiar voice muttering about idiots. She turns her head, in an uncharacteristically good mood, and there’s almost a spark in her eyes. She finds the beast with the upside down hair talking to some other stallion – loudly, since she can hear. “Ah, maybe it’s the cautious that are idiots. What reason does the sea have to be your enemy?” A lip quirks slightly in what might actually be considered a smile, something that will likely not be seen again. Not that she expects an answer to her question. For most of these horses, the sea very well could be their enemy. But for her? It is simply home.

She finally grabs a piece of seaweed and dives into the sea after Kis. She’d prefer, of course, for there to be far fewer horses. Aka just her, or maybe just her and Aquila. She liked Aquila, at the very least, because they are so very similar in the only ways that matter. But of course, all of Helovia’s curious and bold had come out, and so the sea churns with bubbles all around them from too many hooves flailing through its depths. But even still, she cannot find it in herself to be too sour. Home, home, home, her heart sings.

Late to arrive to most things, due to the awkward and painful way her knees pushed towards each other, Kolr arrived in time to see a few horses grabbing some seaweed in their mouths, and diving into the water.

Hating to have attention drawn towards her, the friendless-filly merely stood in silent confusion at the top of one of the dunes, looking around anxiously for some indication of what was happening. Kisamoa was already beneath the waves, and while some were muttering things about what a stupid idea this all was, and how they weren't going to participate, the painted girl heard nothing that helped her understand what was taking place.

She shuffled down the sand, her pigeon-toed hooves making long lines behind her when she didn't completely pick up her feet. Kolr's large blue eyes were wider than normal, as she scanned the crowd looking for a familiar face. She and her twin weren't close, but she would have been relieved to have seen him in this throng of hustling bodies.

"Uhm-" She tried to begin to someone near her, but quickly the crowd moves and Kolr's was boxed out. Uncertainty, she tried again, wriggling her way forward. "Excuse m-' But again, the large bodies around her took no notice of the ashen filly, and she was once again excluded from the group.

Defeated, but not wanting to show it, Kolr swallowed hard and made her way - the long way - around the circumference of the group until at last she caught sight of the sea. She might not have known what was going on, but at least this way she could watch it happening.

As often happens when a God or greater than us being appears, the watching and waiting for something to happen leads to others arriving to do the same. It’s with no real measure of surprise that Tiamat’s voice lures my gaze away from the arriving group with her gentle greeting; finding my smile easily despite not being in the best of moods, I find the sea mare’s gentle and kind disposition almost infectious, as I always do.

"Tiamat," I answer, Duir’s personal greetings given to Nimue with a friendly snort; I answer her question honestly (barely perceiving the quiver in her voice, and thinking little of it at this time), though I admit I don’t like having to admit as much out loud. A hard gleam flashes through my golden eyes as I look out at the Sea God, Kisamoa, deigning to inwardly resent him for his elusive “challenges,” mostly because it had left me feeling foolish. "I do not know."

When she shuffles closer, however, I do notice the fear in her question, letting her press herself near to me as she pleases. Why else ponder something like that out loud? Obviously, the creature was of good cheer; his heinous smile was almost ceaseless. Besides, if he was unwelcome in Helovia, as the Rift Gods had been, the divines would have already arrived to crush him as they had their other challengers. I don’t get to ease her fears, immediately, however, as another arrives.

"Miss Lena!" I smile, grinning, too, at Imogen, already caught up in the warmth of her greeting (and subsequently not remembering to be ashamed). Both of them had always been a part of my life, and I’d never met anyone disliked the Songbird, myself included. It was good to see her again. "It’s possible; it’s also possible we are only at the sea because it is Kisamoa’s natural realm, and he is most comfortable here. No matter what we end up doing, I’ll protect you both."

So, when the Sea God explains the challenge, the seaweed bubbling to the surface of the sea, my brows fall down over my gaze. Many immediately rise to the God’s challenge, while others balk, accusing Kisamoa of attempting to drown them. Snorting with laughter, I turn to both the ladies alongside me, smiling happily at the chaotic shouting about death and stupidity from the craven fools on the shore.

"I think the seaweed does as Kisamoa says," I tell them, Duir nodding his agreement (and leaning closer to the pile of green, slimy ribbons), "as I believe it should also be relatively safe. These cowards insult their own Gods with their belief that they would not have noticed and annihilated him if he were looking to cause trouble."

"I will go, if you go," I smile at Tiamat, who seems to need more reassurance in this situation than Lena.

The dappled doe had arrived late to the event, but she was still curious on what exactly was happening. She had arrived past the time that Kisamoa had dove beneath the waves, and instead appeared just as creatures were grabbing seaweed and slipping into the waves. Her darkened brows furrowed at the thought, shaking her heavy crown at the disbelief she was seeing. Did all of Helovia decide to go for a swim? How strange for them to do such a thing. A soft sigh passed her lips as her emerald gaze danced across the faces of those that hadn’t dove in quite yet. Soon, they passed upon a familiar body of caramel and cream.

Immediately, she picked up her pace. Trotting through the crowd and spraying up a bit of sand from her cloven hooves as she moved to her brother’s side. “Brother.” She acknowledged, aiming to press her dark muzzle against his neck in hello before turning her attention to the event at hand. She stayed silent for the most part, still watching and observing what these Helovian’s were doing. Aelfwine wasn’t a fan of water – though she swam now and again. She didn’t like to make it a habit. More than likely from the time she had ventured out on her way here and nearly been bitten by a shark.

Those were some dark times.

And so she stood, shifting her weight slightly and passing an uncomfortable glance toward Tilney, silently hoping the caramel stallion wouldn’t dive into the water as well. “Please.” She thought. “Don’t be stupid.

Again, the blue jay had been exploring different places in this new land. His massive wings pulling him through the clouds and soon he came face to face with the scent of sea salt and sand. Yet, there was some sort of pull that drew him nearer, and so the man lowered his height to spot yet another gathering. Grumbling half to himself, he began to dive down. Despite not liking half of the species that seemed to thrive in Helovia, he was a fan of crowds and showing his prowess. And so, he lowered himself further toward the sand dunes at the back. His heavy hooves gripped the sand as he landed (not quite as gracefully as his sister did) but he attempted it to say the least. His gaze scanned the crowd in front of him.

He began to shake off the sand that had gathered along his legs and the tips of his wings, unknowingly standing beside @Kianzo as he did so. “Verdomp.” He grumbled to himself, though loud enough for the colt to hear as his sapphire gaze landed on those in front of him grabbing the seaweed and diving into the water. He rolled his eyes, folding his wings up with a loud sigh. “Stupid idiots.” He hissed under his breath, watching a few unicorns grab the seaweed and dive underneath. He knew he didn’t know a lot about the unicorns, but he was beginning to realize how stupid they were.

Again, his gaze swiveled to the crowd, stopping briefly among those that had gathered with Dorobian markings. He had arrived just in time to miss the General, but perhaps that was for the better. Instead, it stopped briefly among Kiada and her markings with the flame that danced alongside her spine, wondering what kind of Dorobian would’ve made those markings, and continued to trail his gaze further along.

are you who i dreamed?
or just a memory?
Her gaze swiveled from Tilney and her prior introductions to sweep across where Kiada was busy speaking with Ru’in, until it landed on Tembovu’s approach. She wanted to offer him a smile, but he seemed distracted, his gaze turned ahead toward Kisamoa, and soon the gilded siren found herself looking upon the creature in wait as well. Though, soon the creature began to speak of entering the water and using the seaweed to breath underneath to visit the long hidden coral reef. Rexanna held her breath for a few moments, concern lacing into her mind as she watched others begin to dive beneath the waves. And soon, her gaze found her daughter among the crowd, strong as a pillar and refusing from entering the water.

Relief wasn’t long lived, however, as she watched Tembovu shift into an elephant and begin to dive down into the water. A soft sigh passed her lips, but she refrained from her urge to grab a piece herself and dive into it as well. She grew worried for Tembovu, but if anything she knew that the Elephant King could handle himself. And so, she waited, slipping past Tilney’s side as his sister approached and spoke with him, stepping toward the edge of the water and peering into it for a few moments, still wary of the words that the brother to the earth god had spoken.

She shook her head, gilded chains dancing with the movement as she backed away from the water and found a place among the crowd once again, watching the water in the hopes of Tembovu’s quick return.

Lena & Imogen

It appeared as if the rest were torn too – trying to decide what to do, how to feel, attempting to gauge the situation and proclaim where they stood. Some were made to look inferior, some were gallant and intrepid despite seasons, years, of caustic imbalances, and some simply spouted where they stood. Lena smiled at both Tiamat and Rikyn, as much undecided as the rest balking and biding their time, wondering when she’d lost her faith and trust in the higher beacons and creatures. A part of her yielded to curiosity, to exploits, to daring trials and tribulations, the rushes of glory, the heights of exuberance, and another portion of her didn’t want to relive any other painful blight the world had to offer. But what was down there, in the reaches of the sea? What did Kiamoa want them to do, besides linger amidst coral? And if there was danger, if there was destruction, if there was mayhem and corruption, surely someone with healing, nurturing, soothing powers would be a necessity? Her grin dimmed a little as her eyes gestured along the ocean, as her brows furrowed in thought, lost amongst the calls of all the other beasts. I’ll do it, she conspired with Imogen, if only to prove she wasn’t a coward, that she still held might, fortitude, and valor in her chest (it wasn’t all punctured and broken, it wasn’t all stained and mottled). The kitsune chirped, hastening in agreement to stay on shore, to act as the Songbird’s eyes along the sands while she batted her intangible wings and tore down into tides and currents. The sienna femme turned towards her sea-brethren and the longlost Prince, nodding, obliging, proffering a wink meant to be shared in camaraderie and good faith. “Perhaps I’ll see you there.” Then she wandered forth, embracing a reckless breath, locking her eyes with the sun, with the sky, with the horizon, and hoping, somewhere, somehow, she hadn’t let herself or anyone else down. Imogen strayed along the shoreline as her bonded dipped her maw towards the seaweed, and dove into the arms of the ocean.

Sharp, intensely blue gaze bores into his sister from his hidden place among the shifting, sandy dunes. So focused is his attention that he does not see any others anymore. His mother and father are figures forgotten amid the sea of other equines because @Kiada is there, talking to another. His eyes narrow, it is the same colt that they both accosted in the meadow so long ago; Ashamin’s son, @Ru’in . And foxes leap on her back—foxes? Never has he seen foxes. And he has seen all of Kia’s flaming creatures; or so he had thought.

His black-marked jaw clenches, black rimmed ears pinning flush with his skull as he watches his other half reach out to the tusk-mouthed monster—and share some new, personal fire-creatures with him. It was clear, to the colt in that moment, that Kiada had found a substitute for him quite easily. And so he steeled his glare away from the two foals, turning his eyes to this strange sea-equine-conglomeration that spoke of diving beneath the waves.

And the dark prince squared his shoulders, getting ready to accept whatever challenge and win whatever thing there was to win. Because winning felt good. Triumphing over others, stealing their hopes with his victory, felt good. And he wanted to feel good in the wake of Kia’s betrayal.

But the air in front of him was morphing, growing hazy—what? His nostrils flare, a familiar scent wafting into them before suddenly a little copper mare was there,Goldie?” His shocked question sounded before she threw something over him with a quick smile on her beautifully elegant face. Nonplussed blues met amused greens, before he was invisible.

Or, at least, nearly invisible. And then @Bellisma spoke again, gesturing to @Tae as she said she’d prefer to get this back at the end. And then she was gone, trotting towards the sea. It would be a lie to say that the thought of disappearing (literally) with this handy, invisible armor didn’t cross his mind. He already greatly disliked (hated, really) the girl with her wolves. Their unpleasant interaction on the Flats still fresh in his mind. And, suddenly, warmth bloomed in his barrel at Goldie—she had stolen from the girl he despised. Though he already had felt… ‘warmly’ towards the copper mare, now he was actually fond of her.

And, while the colt tried to make sense of the new, strangely warm feelings, sand was thrown onto him. His ears pinned and neck snaked out—only to stop his snappy retort to the blue pegasus, @Sunjata , because he was invisible. So he waited and watched to see what would happen, hidden beneath stolen goods.
There is no such thing as ready.
There is only now.

What in the sweet hell was that thing this mare (@aquila) was doing with her face? And was her hind end... buzzing? Ausar's opinion of her went from being "maybe fun" to "strictly friendzoned", and instead of sidling closer like he was prone to do, his hooves remained firmly planted where they were. "De la what now?" he questioned, lids narrowing, but she was already continuing on, calling him something that was most definitely not his name. "......Ausar," he corrected, eyeing her warily. "But if we're going to be cute and give each other nicknames, you're Seapony." Her focus had already been redirected, though, and he didn't waste the time wondering if she heard him. Her face did this weird wet slapping thing, which was kind of gross.

The moment he heard this Kis creature speak, Ausar disliked him. He was far too flamboyant for the midnight's pessimistic disposition, and he was even stranger-looking than the glowing mare the stallion now stood beside. And these morons were falling for this act? Could they not tell how clearly they were being played? Just look at the way Kis flitted around! He was definitely hiding something. Ausar's nostrils flared in distrust, and he snorted loudly, not giving a damn who heard and found it disrespectful. "Uh, no thank you," he told Seapony when she seemed to silently question his intentions. "You-..." But she was already gone. ..Have fun with that, he finished silently, turning his attention to the remaining crowd

He watched in thinly-veiled amusement as the others all plowed into the waves after the strange being, many a youngin' diving in without a care in the world. His eyes caught on one filly in particular, though, as she appeared shocked and began backing away from the water's edge. "Smart," Ausar noted, jutting his chin in the girl's ( @eleanor ) direction. His voice was gruff, and he made no attempt to keep himself quiet, though he had no idea if she heard him from this distance.Seconds later his attention was stolen away by a mare literally on fire in her anger ( @aithniel ). Confused by her sudden appearance and completely unmasked rage, Ausar pinned his ears. "Safe to assume there, darling," he drew out, careful to keep his cords tuned to a vague indifference bordering on boredom, though bright yellow orbs caught on the stallion approaching her shortly thereafter. Ausar nearly opened his mouth to advise against it, but he would be amused to see the big-boned man catch fire, so he remained silent.

The ridiculousness just kept coming. There was so much clamoring to follow the insane critter into the sea that Ausar momentarily forgot he was supposed to be playing the part of a likable man; now he was chuckling - perhaps not as quietly as he should have been - at the gray mare flipping her ever-loving lid ( @nyx ) and racing into the ocean after someone he assumed she cared about. He would have likely been able to get himself back together after that had a literal elephant not moved past him to enter the water. Sheer stun kept him from backing out of the way, even though the behemoth didn't come close enough to be an immediate threat. Ausar had been distracted by the chaos to note who had become said giant, but he made a mental note to find out.

The buffalo ( @albrecht ) was next in the queue, who he'd heard earlier make some snarky comment Ausar had appreciated. When he saw the man pick up a piece of seaweed, the demon shook his head. "I thought there was hope for you..," he muttered, making his way further onto the beach shortly thereafter. There was no point standing in the shallows with the water lapping at his ankles when he was just going to be in the way for all those with half a brain diving in.

The Sand Princess didn't have to wait long to find out what exactly Kis had in store for them, she took his shushing on the chin, knowing that if you wanted to get what you wanted, sometimes it was better to be quiet. Accept, what she had thought had suddenly become a daunting reality, Kisamoa wanted them to go underwater. Vibrant violets snapped to the foamy surf which lapped at her feet while the flames on her wings and hooves crackled and sparked with her budding nerves.

She hadn't swam before, she'd paddled in the oasis and galloped through the surf which surrounded the Dragon's Throat, but she'd never actually felt the safety of the ground and land melt away for the tides and it's underwater abode.

Fuzzy ears flicked back and forth as she flexed and relaxed her wings, she could stay up here, but what fun was that? It wasn't very brave of her, to chicken out when already others were running into the surf without a care. With so many going in, what harm was there? Besides, wasn't Kisamoa a God? and a cousin of the God of the Earth? She had heard he was a benevolent God and while she was wary of the fickle powers beyond that of the Sun God, she was sure he would not entertain having a villainous relative to smear his name?

A huff escaped her eventually, hooves taking her forward in strides which grew in confidence as she neared to offered sea weed. She could do this, she was a wolf after all, made of sand and warriors blood. Taking a dip should be like flying. With the slimy, and incredibly salty weed between her teeth, she cantered into the deepening waters, her wings pressed hard against her sides as the flames burned ever brighter.

Higher and higher the water rose and she kept going, until she took an instinctive breath of air and plunged her head beneath the brine to join the rest of her body, and her fellow helovians.

she slept with wolves without fear.

Alune remained politely silent as this Kisamoa stated his piece, instead, half of his attention was instead diverted to the pale mare beside him as she leaned into his touch. He didn't miss the mischievious twinkle in her eye when he called her by such a title. Old habits died hard, and considering his dear Thero'shan was no less of a lady despite some of her wild and voracious habits, he would not be swayed to call her anything less. Leonine tail coiled neatly around his hocks as the swan-like wing embraced him despite their lofty height differences, any tension that he may or may not have had knotted within his withers disappated at the touch immediately. An invisible brow rose at the subtle realization but he thought nothing of it after a moment, exhaling a silent snort and his head lowered to meet Erthe's on a more personal level when the Sea God spoke once more with intention.

A pale, unblinking eye met the little lady's glance, it was very clever indeed. Most equines had never savoured the thrill beneath the waves, and while once upon a time, Alune had ventured deep beneath the waves. He had been an Oracle then, wreathed in starlit and the Moon's embrace. He had floated within a opalescent shell of starlight to meet with the Water Goddess and her own Oracle. Ah, those memories seemed an era away now, a sad but fond smile graced his twilight hued muzzle. Perhaps this Sea God was more Naga-like than he first thought, such crafty tricks — albeit this could be a more playful trick as he said, and not one which would take them fathoms from breath and shoreline.

Before he could make up his own mind, Erthe made it up for him. Her sudden movement forward toward the spray spurned him into action behind her with a protective edge in his stride. A pale eye is cast toward the rest who are heading in their direction also, noting those of the Edge with a determined note to keep an eye on them too, if he can. He does not want any of his herd to come to harm in the unknown depths.

A mouthful of seaweed is taken with a passive note, there are more disgusting things in the world to find in your mouth, and he refrains from letting out a chuckle at the lewd thought. No, better to chuckle and chuff once they are firmly back on shore, it is purely business and curiousity now. He has to keep his pale lady safe, as well as show a strong bond of unity to the rest of his family.
The tide does not take him as quickly as the smaller ones, his frame stays above the breath of the sea a note longer before he dives, long forelimbs outstretched as his back legs kick to send him leisurely downward. Alune can't help but wonder, as the sunlit waters begin to become no more of a halo above his head, if it is a trick, and what awaits them beneath is really just a handful of harmless sea creatures or something much more foul.

He followed the others, being late as usual. Small hooves ran into a trot trying to keep up with the others. The funny sea thing appeared again. His hooves slid to a halt, and he stood watching and listening to the creature. His head twisted and turned. Others were ahead of him, and blocking his view of everything. Finally, the boy decided to move closer. His eyes caught a few familiar faces. His father had shifted into an elephant, and others grabbed some thing and went into the water. He waited and watched.

Other children were swimming, and adults were just going right into the water. Golden eyes widened as he saw the beautiful girl head for the water. Her stripped wings emerged into the water, and soon she was into the ocean. His face remained the same, but the thoughts flooded his mind. What would happen if he went in, what if he didn't? Confusion, distrust, worry, panic, curiosity, lust, wonder, all the emotions swarmed his golden pointed skull. Then he wanted to be part of something; the boy did not want to miss a single thing. So he went towards the water, he picked up a salty piece of green stuff. The boy started to wade in the water. Cold waves turned his chocolate pelt almost black, and he dipped his head underwater. Golden eyes looked for his beautiful winged friend. Finally! He spotted the girl, and his small body swam as fast as it could towards her.

God, what did she wander into now? The crowd was all around, and the mare could almost not get through the people. Her golden body moved forward, and teal eyes watched around her. She was always looking for something that was out of place. Her attention grew upon the bronze mare for a moment. She did not trust her; Tin glared at the women as well. Rolling her eyes at the girl running towards the beach, Raeden continued. Her attention fell upon the sea creature talking. He wanted them to follow him into the ocean. She watched as others ran in behind him, and some backed away. Cream hooves sunk into the soft sand as she pushed forward. Then she felt a slight bump on her chest. Teal eyes widened as the feminine form pushed into the rear end of a large black stallion. Her golden face would have turned red; her body felt like it was burning. A charming smile fell upon her maw quickly as she looked at the man. "I am so sorry! I was not paying attention. I hope I did not disturb you." Teal eyes flickered with bright silver flecks. Her focus shifted to the woman the man was speaking to. Her lopsided smile brightened.

Perfect cream hooves moved to stand next to the man. She kept a respectable distance from the large man. Eyes narrowed upon each creature that continued into the water. Milk-colored tresses floated in the soft breeze that filled the air around them. Tin couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the girl's clumsy mistake. " Are they following that thing into the water? What if it jumped off the side of a cliff? Would they follow him to their death? Sometimes you can't fix stupid..." Tin chuckled slightly watching each creature dip their head under water. All Raeden could do is shake her crowned skull in disbelief.
