Under the moonlight, under your moonlit gaze
I know I'd take a million bullets, babe

She would have given anything to remain a little longer in the strange, dark world beneath the waves. The cold water did nothing to bother her, she had light to see by in the steady glow of the acorn charm her mother bequeathed her, and there was so much more to see and learn about these wonderful creatures... But Kisamoa was becoming for them to return to the surface, and reluctantly - casting several long glances back over her shoulder at the slowly shrinking reef as it faded back into darkness - Erthë followed after the others. Kicking her legs and beating her wings it was a peculiar sensation, moving about in this weightless existence. She always enjoyed swimming ever since she was a foal, but never before had she spent so long under water and never had she felt so at ease. Not needing to hold her breath left her free to move about as she wished, effortless and nearly completely without the usual pain; there was no weight placed on a poorly healed limb, no discomfort or awkward balance to be had from a faulty joint. She was free, as free as when she soared above the clouds - and just as she loved the brilliant light of the open sky, so the girl found herself falling for the deep darkness of the abyss, the crushing weight of water around her and the weightless, directionless dispense of gravity.

All too soon it ended. Light enveloped her as she rose through the layers of water until warmth blossomed around her again. When she broke through the surface in a cascade of glittering droplets the light of day seemed painfully bright, the colors of the surface world much too vivid and saturated. Spitting out the seaweed the winged lass coughed and spluttered, salt water gushing from her lungs as she sucked in painful gulps of breath; it was painful, regrettable, utterly overwhelming - and she loved every second of it.

The ribbon of kelp tangled into her mane as she looked around, searching for her teacher amidst the throng of people in the water. Spotting him, she beamed in his direction, words unnecessary in conveying her delight in the adventure they had partaken in as it was written all over her face, shimmering in wide open eyes and the liberated sound of her laughter. Even so, Erthë made her way towards the stallion, laboriously working to stay afloat with her waterlogged wings, the curls a tangle of hair adrift in the surge and plastered against the skin in a delightful mess.

"I'm glad you came with" she said, as she reached him. Her breath was uneven and she sounded hoarse, no doubt from the salt water she'd swallowed in the struggle to adjust between elements. "Explaining that... would have been impossible."
