Isopia

The devil is not as black as he is painted.

The Blood Falls.

For all of Isopia's annoying insistence on rationality and academic pursuits, she actually had an incredibly bad memory. She was fairly certain she had been here before ... but the instances that would justify that claim seemed murky in her mind. She'd been here with .. Ros and Chico? But hadn't there been someone else? Ahh, the Rift Wars. The Goddess. The ... wolves? Was that what it had been? Slowly pieces infiltrated her mind, but it was like someone else was pouring water into the back of her skull - she accepted the memories (because how else would the have got there?) but they still seemed alien somehow.

Perhaps just like all of the other times Isopia had been here that she could't quite remember, she was suddenly drawn to the pool of ruby red liquid. It appeared so deep, like an open wound that had no hope of ever clotting on its own due to its depth. Something about that was comforting to Isopia - that there were things in this world that life could simply not scab over and erase. Somethings left a mark, and those marks stayed.

Maybe this had something to do with the memories she'd recently lost. Though given that they were still present in Hubris' mind, perhaps it wasn't right to call them lost. There was a door to them, she just wasn't even aware of it. But regardless, the memories were gone from her mind, and so as she stared into the ruby liquid it didn't conjure associations of Volterra's ruby stare. She could just look at it now without heartache and regret colouring her thoughts.
