A world full of wolves, who's the leader of the pack?

Her wonderings had taken her west and she was playing in the first snow fall of her life. It was cold, wet and...ick. Never had she experienced such cold climates before, her entire life she'd been playing in the heat and sands of her home. It was the change that she needed, a break from the home that reminded her of her dead father. Over time the acceptance had allowed her to move past the heart stopping grief and now she could handle the sadness that make her heart ache. The girl wondered how many snows her father had played in as a youngster and how many he endured during her life. Spinning on the spot she glanced over her shoulder at a strange snow. A snow hare burst out from the underbrush and fled towards another bushes a few meters to her right. Stumbling back in shock Tasokh laughed, "silly rabbit." Following the hare's prints she stuck her nose into the bushes where it had disappeared. Only the fading heat and scent of the snow hare remained, it was long gone by the time she arrived to investigate.

Rightening and stretching her wings she look towards her destiny. The World's Edge wasn't too far away, after her travels and their father's death she was desperate to find her sister. No doubt her sister was searching for her as well. Sighing she pushed on through the snow, still listening for another potential fleeing hare. The next one she would like to chase, no doubt she would be as fast as her father...

Father.

Hooves came to a stop as another wave of sadness washed over her. Her breath catching in her throat and vision blurring. A shaky sigh was drawn in and she held it for a few moments before exhaling. The breath clouded around her in the cool air, the sight calmed her. 'You're far away from what happened now.' She assured herself. It never snowed in The Throat, she was surrounded by snow. Blinking in order to clear her vision she looked around her, feeling, for the first time in a few weeks, incredibly lonely.

The Sand Princess missed home, she missed the red sand and the sea breeze which rolled in with each lap of the tide, she missed how warm everything was. While she did not know all her siblings, she missed how she woke up in the morning knowing that she belonged and that her blood was never far from her side. She had found kinship in the Edge, in the form of Zubari and she'd found herself rotating toward him as though he'd become a blanket for her frayed nerves and soul. She felt weak, she'd left home and she'd not even found what she had been looking for, how could she go home to her mother, her brothers and her sisters and not have Tasokh by her side.

How could she go home to her family without the missing piece of her puzzle?
She needed Tasokh, now more than ever.

Her search for her sister had drawn her from the land of her birth in a desperate, pleading attempt that the Sun God would find it his his heart to show her the way to her sister. Crowned head dipped lower as lilac eyes glanced over the fresh fallen snow in front of her, her silvery breath whisping into nothingness which each exhale. The faded tracks of deer, rabbits and all manner of fur blessed creatures the object of her fancy. Anything to keep her occupied as she trawled from pillar to post chasing what seemed like a ghost.

There was a peaceful, pristine kind of touch winter brought it the likes fire and heat could not touch. A delicate balance of reflective notes and sombre chords, it drew the fair haired filly into nothingness. Stood like a statue across the blanketed ground of winter's veil, her white flames burned like ethereal memories of summer upon her wings. She did not belong to winter, she was no woman crafted of ice and crowned with a halo of frost, she was not a dārilaros promised to a barren trees and flowerless fields. She was a dārilaros of fire, carved and crafted from the rock and heat, tempered in the blood of all she held dear. Her veil was desert flowers, her song was the drums of war.

Why then, did she feel so broken despite knowing herself down to the marrow of her bones. Did Tasokh, where ever she was, feel the same?

From her vigil on the fringes of the forest she something, at first, her gaze skimmed over as though she didn't believe what she saw. Then, like she had been seeing the world in shades of grey and black, the world burst back into colour with a ferocity which caused her heart to leap and the flames upon her wings to flare toward the heavens.

It was her!

"Hāedar!" Her voice echoed out from the tree line before she burst forth from the frost dusted brushes and low hanging branches, fiery wings out stretched toward her sister, all of herself thrown into a ground covering gallop. She'd found her, had the answer simply been to sit in one place and wait all along? She didn't care anymore at this point, Tasokh was there. Right in front of her.

"Hāedar, where you been? I missed you." Her voice bled into roughened hues akin to their father's, a habit she had picked up and failed to shake. Verro's hind legs buckled as she slid to a stop in front of her smaller sister, while wings attempted to envelop the paler twin within their embrace. "You hurt?" Her marked face changed from elation to concern as her lavender eyes began to look over her sister, trying to spot anything that may have been out of place.

The snow hare was long gone, it was only the dun princess in the snow covered meadow. This was not her domain either. She had played in the snows for a few days now but had quickly tired of the wet, cold...mush under her hooves. What ever snow drifted down onto her warm body eventually melted into her coat, which gave her a dappled pattern along the top of her back. It was home that she craved now. Home where she and her sister should be with their mother, although it had been some time since Tasokh had had any contact with either of them. It was her own fault and she missed them desperately. In fact the youngster wish that both her mother and twin where here. Now. In this frozen and lonely land.

"Hāedar!"

The filly's head snapped up at an alarming rate. Could the Gods be so kind as to deliver her sister onto her doorstep? Surely not. That was wishful thinking, the voice had been nothing more than an echo of the past. A gentle breeze of the past being carried to her through the tops of the surrounding trees. But then a large shop burst out from between the frost covered bushes and bottom branches. Fire assaulted the remaining snow around the figure, although curiously only by reflecting it's warmer colours onto the pale snow. Verro pushed herself over the snow covered mounds and through the thicker and somewhat sunken patches of grass. Tasokh did not move, instead she remained rooted to the ground by shock. "Verro?" The whispered word was mixed with disbelief and hope.

"I..." Unable to form a sensible response to her sister words, the girl grinned widely. Laughing loudly as Verro slid to a stop before her and enveloped Tasokh with her wings. The lighter girl snuggled into the embrace, soaking her sister's warmth, desperately blinking away the tears that threatened to freeze on her cheeks. "Inavva." The relief in her voice was clear while she desperately fought to be even closer to her twin. The felling of being complete once again fuelled her, enabled to be stronger in the current tragic situation. "Vos, yeri?" Finally a response to her sister's soothing and concerned words and a few retreating steps so that she may study her sister in turn.

When she noted no serious injuries she realised the lie that she'd spoken. Psychically she was not hurt but emotionally...emotionally she was ruined. "Sek." Frowning the girl reflected upon the images that flashed through here mind, a continues loop. "Ave...ave ajjin driv." She finally spoke the words out loud, yet it did little to help her accept this new reality. Suddenly the weight in her mane and tail, the weight of her father's feathers, dragged her deeper into the snow. "Hash yer ray nest?" She asked, looking into her sister's purple eyes with her silver ones.

The laughter from her younger sister had been music to her ears, the light and warmth of it flooded her and all too easily put her mind to rest. There would be no more waking up without her other half beside her, no more would she be stood on cliff edges and empty forests as she yelled for Tasokh to come back to her. No longer would she be stood there answered with the salt wind and leafy silence they'd offered her in return.

Her wings enclosed as tightly as they could around her sister, her head dropped low and her own eyes closed for a precious few moments, as she willed whatever tears of her own threatened to spill from her cheeks away. The taller of the two uttered a small laugh when Tasokh asked if she was hurt, a jeweled eye cracked open and peered down at her as she pulled away. "Vos, Hāedar." Apart from the usual scrapes and scratches she'd gotten from thorned brambles she'd received when traveling the forest, her dun painted hide was as pristine as the last time they'd been together.

All too sooner, the jovial mood switched. The warmth which had reigned disappeared in a frigid gust of wind between the two, heralded with the words which brought back what had ruined her heart to begin with. The cracks seemed to split open as her own face changed to mirror her sadness, the spirit flames which danced upon her wings dimmed. "Anha tiholat, anha ki hazze." She'd been there as his flames stopped burning, watched as their brother had tried to rouse him from his final sleep. The precious bungle of black feathered which littered the small braids within her mane were sacred to her, she'd gently taken them from her resting Ave and woven into her hair so that he could be there with her, despite his passing.

"kisha zhorre jin Gaezo akka Hāedar, mori thirat kijinosi Edge." She didn't want to dwell on Gaucho's passing any longer, for her sake and her sisters sake. So she'd switched it to something else, they came from a large family, a family that no longer just lingered in the throat. Her flames burned brighter as she tilted her head toward the tree line, what marked the start of the misty forest realm. "Tikh yer allayafi tat tihat?"

Verro speaks

Anha tiholat, anha ki hazze — I know, I was there.
kisha zhorre jin gaezo akka Hāedar, mori thirat kijinosi Edge — We have a brother and sister, they live in the edge.
tikh yer allayafi tat tihat? — Would you like to see?
she slept with wolves without fear.
