Sacre truly did spend the majority of his existence searching for his red brother who so selfishly condemned him to this fruitless hunt that hurt his heart every time he returned home without even a hint. Roux had been in the Worlds Edge, Tilney had mentioned him in the healers meeting, so then why could Sacre not find him. Wherever he went, whoever he met, no matter how fast he travelled he was always one step behind, a desperate breath too late and in the back of his mind he wondered, agonised, maybe his brother didn't want to be found. What if Roux was avoiding him on purpose? The useless brother, who couldn't save any of his family, who couldn't even find his twin, who had run when life got too hard... Who would want to meet him? The Deep Forest and all its sorrow surrounded him as he stood, an outline of heartache, his mind holding him to ransom whilst the pool glittered calmly in the stray sunlight that filtered through the branches, revealing the sanguine bottom of precious stones.

He thought back to the last time he had seen Roux, in the Thistle Meadow, the setting for almost all of Sacre's endings. His mother had died there, he had lost his brother there and even then, even his beginnings... He had been born there after all. It was his sole reason for avoiding it, whenever he went something catastrophic or strange happened, his fate was tied unusually to it, or so Sacre believed, the problem was he couldn't get home without going through it.

So he lingered here, in the Deep Forest, mulling over his memories, his pain, trying to dredge up the courage from the depths of his wounded heart and ignore the misplaced foreboding that haunted him. As the cool brisk breeze sent creaks through the woodland, birds coming and going from their nests, a bead of salty water trailed from the corners of Sacre's vibrantly blue eyes and trickled down his face. He wasn't sure if it was his pining for his brother or if it was the affect this sorrowful forest had on him, or both for that matter, but his usually cheerful demeanour had lost all of its sunshine and left the lost looking fox-boy with nothing but yearning tears as he stared into the dimly lit woodland.

for @Nymeria (I hope this setting is okay wanda<3)
