Dainty cloves drummed against the earth in a solid beat, the fast rhythm rapid and jubilant in its unfaltering pace. With a cry of glee Erthë burst through the Gate and charged up the main trail that coiled through the forest, fast moving legs and sweeping wings scattering the lingering mist and leaving the sound of fading laughter in her wake.

"Everyone, come quick!" she cried by the time she skidded into a halt in one of the larger clearings. Gleaming hooves skidded a little on the dewy grass but with surprising ease she righted herself, the movements of her dainty frame more fluid and easy than ever before.

"Hurry hurry" she said, grin stretching from ear to ear as she began to trot in a wide circle; "See anything new?"

It was impossible not to laugh. How could she do anything else when she was healed, no longer in pain, more cured and well than she had been for years? To anyone who knew her the change would be obvious, possibly even startling; no longer did she drag herself forth at a turtle's pace, no longer did her face contort into sour grimaces of pain. For the first time in months her eyes were clear, free from the haze of noxious drugs that clouded the senses and dulled the mind, and Erthë wanted to show everyone this sudden change.

Again and again she called, refusing to relent until all her friends were there, the whole herd if possible, for they were all her family and she wanted to share this moment with them. Eagerly the young Sage looked around for Tembovu and Alysanne, Lyanna and Maude and Tilney, Arah and Ru and everyone she had ever spoken to or encountered in passing since she had first arrived to the herd; she smiled eagerly, hoping they would be as happy as she was for this blessing - she had no other word to describe the enchanted deer and its alluring call.

"Come on, everyone, let's celebrate!" she laughed, not noticing  - or caring - that tears leaked from the eyes to paint lines across the pale of her cheeks. They were tears of joy and relief; nothing to be ashamed of or hide.

And all Erthë felt at this moment was happiness, a feeling she wished to spread throughout the herd.

The glass walls of the greenhouse were, at this point, one of the most familiar, and comforting settings Maude had come to know. With the warm, humid, green world inside, and the easily spied goings on of the herd outside, a certain ease of spirit meshed itself into her being whilst she tended to the rows, occasionally glancing up to watch the birds play between the branches, or chipmunks chase each other with tittering playfulness up the trunks of the trees.

There was no mist inside the glass house, but it pressed against its base and writhed, and danced. Maude has become lost in watching the swirl and ebb of the water particles against the glass, rather than working, and was day dreaming, while staring at the pretty sight, when a flash of pale pelt through the trees catches her attention.

Huh?” she asks no one in particular, because, though she’s not alone (one never is in the Edge’s gardens), she certainly hasn’t been talking to any of them. Sure she recognized the white horse running through the trees as Erthë, but not sure how it was possible for her to do so, due to her crippled legs, the filly quickly forgets the fog, plants, and everything else all together, and makes her way out and after her friend.

Coming upon the normally relaxed and calm mare in a state of elation, Maude discovers the emotion to be infectious. Though she’d been worried at first, seeing Erthë so happy is good! Having spent some time with her over the past weeks tending to the very limbs which seemed to be free of the pain that had bound her yesterday, the healer-to-be has already deduced that the pale hybrid can often be less than cheerful, and she certainly has never seen her friend this happy at all.

Wow…!” remarks the child with great awe, when she at last notices what the fuss is about; Erthë’s legs, which had been painfully bent, and wrong shaped, now looked just like they should have to begin with! What sort of healer had she gone to, that could fix what the God’s couldn’t? Surely the best that Helovia has ever known! “how, Erthë? I thought you said no one could fix them, not even the Gods!

“Everyone, come quick!”

The slow, steady pounding of the Elephant’s heart picked up, his head quickly raising as his head swiveled away from the thick Birdsong grass (which he had not, as of late, had enough time to eat, his lean sides showed). But any concern about his pearlescent adopted daughter faded as laughter followed on the heels of her shouts.

The King could not help the upward curve of his thick lips at the infectious nature of Erthe’s words, laughter, tears, and grins. A brisk trot brought the stallion’s thick frame through the mist and over the dewy grass—though he halted abruptly the moment he actually saw her.

Gone was the limping gait, no longer was the backward-rocked stance, ceased was the constant dullness of pain in her now bright and gleaming face. A low, surprised whicker left his muzzle—happiness and relief pushing it out of his barrel. Happiness that Erthe was finally healed. And relief that she no long would be dependent on the dangerous plant.

So he lurched forward in a few bounds, thick neck reaching out in an attempt to draw her into his chest in a tight hug, Hii ni habari njema! How, Erthe?” His deep voice rumbled with exhilaration.

Hii ni nzuri = this is great news!
