Please keep in mind that this rubric is a work in progress and may chance as we view more of the hybrid dice battles. The goal is to optimize the system.


By my verdict: NAME is the winner!

CHALLENGER
Realism [-5 || +5]
The realism is judged for the overall battle. The judge will read each post carefully and take into consideration how you wrote your character defending themselves and taking damage. Keep in mind that damage is scaled with the dice from 1-6, meaning that if a 1 was rolled against you, you should take less damage than if a 6 was rolled against you. A +5 is for an absolutely flawless fight which is considered almost wholly unattainable unless you make no mistakes - everyone makes mistakes! An average score for a good writer is between 1 and 4.

One mistake will not hurt your overall score too badly, it will simply go into the judges weighted score as a -1.

-5 | Worst fight ever with no realism.
0 | The fight was realistic in some places, but not realistic in others.
+5 | Not only was the fight entirely realistic, but it was incredibly creative.


Emotion [-3 || +3]
The emotion of the battle is in how can the judge feel what your character is doing. Even if your character is unfeeling, the goal is to make your reader experience what your character is experiencing by using vivid language and letting us see in your character's mind - how you do this is up to you! A +3 should be reserved for only the most vivid of battles in which you literally do not want to stop reading. An average score for a good writer is between 1 and 2.

-3 | The entire battle was flat and boring.
0 | The emotion was okay, but I was not grabbed.
+3 | I was in tears reading this (or manic elation)


Prose [-5 || +5]
Prose is how effectively you used the style that you used. If you feel like writing in free verse, was the verse used in a unique way? If told from different points of view, did this enhance the battle? Also keep in mind that grammatical errors, spelling errors, and other technical writing facets are important and glaring issues will cost you points. This section is just as important as realism, as this site is about writing and improving writing. A +5 is reserved for only the prose that contains absolutely no mistakes but is also done in such a stunning way that you are shocked into literary awe. An average score for a good writer is between 1 and 3.

-5 | Heavy grammar, spelling, tense issues with little literary engagement, short and rushed. Obviously no effort was given.
0 | Still heavy on issues, but the intent of creativity in prose can be seen.
+5 | Grammar, spelling, tense, was flawless with a unique literary style that is glowingly vivid and beautiful.


Readability [-3 || +3]
Readability is considered separately from prose because just because a particular style may be creative, often they can be difficult to read. In an effort to keep our judges from having to wade through difficult script, the readability factor should encourage battlers to keep their styles unique AND accessible. An average score for a good writer is around a 1 or 2.

-3 | Could not follow sentences, no flow, no grammar considerations and unable to get any sort of clear picture of the battle.
0| Very difficult to understand what is going on.
+3 | Extremely easy to read and did not have to re-read a single sentence for clarification.

Finally tally: ----- HP
-10 | ending the fight not ready to keep fighting (ex. not standing, begging for it to stop, running away, or in any way leaving the battle, including in closing defense.)
-10 | posting over the 800 word limit (accrues per infraction)
-10 | posting a spar/challenge before the 7 day limit for your last spar/challenge is up. Spars count down from the first dice roll per character, challenges from when the rubric is posted.
Auto-forfeit | ending the fight passed out
