Tae hadn't seen Grusha for what felt like years. She knew that Gaucho's death had hit her twin hard, but she hadn't expected Grusha to withdraw from her. When her counterpart had said she was going monster hunting, Tae assumed she would be back within a few days. A week at the most. The fact that she hadn't returned only told the mandible-marked mare that Grusha needed more time, and Tae was willing to give her that.

Still, she missed her.

Staring out at the sea, Tae allowed herself a moment of self pity. She huffed to herself, wallowing int he fact that she felt so along, despite the two massive wolves at her side. Mal and Hel whined uneasily, drifting away from Tae and splashing about in the ocean. The mare took no pleasure in her bondeds' antics, instead focusing her pale white stare somewhere out towards the horizon and exhaling loudly and dramatically. It felt good to sulk, honestly. And although Tae wouldn't need to wallow for long, in this moment, it was what she needed.

Iskra
Let it go, just let it be, you be you, and I'll be me
"Hey, Tae."

The small, soft voice of Iskra drifted forth as he walked up from behind his elder sister. He approached with the ease of familiarity born of blood-family, but also a caution for the difference in their ages and her more solitary affinity. Sometimes Iskra felt like he annoyed her, as loud and boisterous as he was, while she in turn was always so serious. So much like mom.

Maybe dad too, but Iskra couldn't really say. Stories told him some things, but you can't know someone, not really, just from stories.

So as Iskra approached he offered her a smile, but kept his energy down low, and sidled up beside her. Almost a year old Iskra had a lot of growing left to do, but already his height at this age seemed to suggest he'd be taller than her. That first birthday coming up also suggested to him that he needed to start taking some things a bit more serious now too, something maybe Tae could help him with. Pretty soon he'd have to pick a rank in the herd, and he didn't want to do that without trying some of them out first.

He exhaled steadily, watching the canines at play with mild humor, but turned instead to the thoughts unraveling in his mind. "Why did you decide to become a healer?" he asked her simply, and his teal gaze lifts expectantly to hers, awaiting some sort of profound answer that might help him choose his path to adulthood more clearly.
Holding onto something we don't need
All this delusion in our heads
Is gonna bring us to our knees
