"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

It’s been a while since she’s simply milled about the Edge. The day is hot and humid and though not unbearable, she finds herself unmotivated to leave the shade of the forest. The air is too still for it to be pleasant, so she meanders toward the cliffs, hoping as she goes closer to catch a breeze that usually comes in. It does get slightly better, and she finds herself content, simply wandering through the trees in a way she hasn’t for quite some time. Her mind runs, thinking about all the things she probably should be doing, but in truth, she’d done much of it.
The greenhouse and the garden are both well-tended. With herself, Sacre and Tilney working on them, there are plenty of herbs planted, ready and waiting for a purpose. She would, of course, rather they stay ready and waiting for a purpose. It’s almost always better than having to use them, though she is usually glad when the only herbs she needs are ones to help ease the normal pain of childbirth and after. That pain, at least, leads to wonderful things.
She could go to the Threshold, though she can’t quite bring herself to leave the familiar comfort to the Edge’s trees. Tomorrow, she promises, knowing she should spend some more time there than she does. When she’d first come to the Edge, that was where she’d spent most of her time, and the forest there was almost as familiar as the one she walks through now. But responsibilities piled on, keeping her busy, and she found herself in the Threshold less and less.
Tomorrow, for sure. But today, she decides to take a day for herself. To wander the forest, to stay as cool as she can, to see who’s lingering in the Edge as well for some conversation perhaps. There are new faces she does not really know, and many old faces she’s simply never gotten to know as well as she should. It seems a good use of her day, truthfully, and so she continues to wander, ears pricked for someone looking to pass some time.

For the first time in far too long, Alysanne had begun to feel at peace again. She hadn’t forgotten - or forgiven - those that have caused trouble for her and the Edge. And, always, she still didn’t trust them. But her path rarely crossed with the troublesome king and his troublesome minions throughout this forest. The Edge had stopped tearing itself apart ad she can’t help but wonder whether it was because of the threats that lay outside rather than from within.
Well, maybe she wasn’t exactly feeling peaceful - but things seemed to be a little less troublesome anyway.
She missed the vibrant colours of the spring - the gentle blossoms and the soft scent of new plants, the flush of vibrant green in contrast with the deep, rich greens that were present all year long in this incredible forest. Tallsun brought heat and seemed to dull the vibrancy of the colours somewhat, but it was still beautiful. But, then, when wasn’t the Edge gorgeous? This place had captured her heart long ago.
And not just the forest - but the ones within it as well. Hemlock was settling in for a nap - fat and full with the hunt - so Alysanne was wandering alone when she spotted a familiar form. “Lyanna.” Her friend’s name was breathed out with a warm smile and there was only the briefest of hesitations before she changed her direction and approached.
The hesitation was only because she felt insecurity creeping into her mind - worry that she had let their friendship lapse and that the dear mare wouldn’t want to speak to her at all. “Would you mind some company? It’s been too long.” She had seen Lyanna around, of course, even talked to her - but Alysanne knew it had been far too long since they had spoken to each other. Since they had hung out and just talked without their roles coming into play.

- sometimes in the wind of change -
Peace comes and goes, takes on different forms in her life. Right now, she finds the ghosts of her old life are quiet, stilled by the hot summer sun. Or maybe by time, and she will only know for sure if Frostfall brings them rolling back in. But Corbin’s voice doesn’t plague her, and once in a while when it does come, she finds comfort in it now. More like memories than being haunted, and she doesn’t feel like she’s just likely to go mad with her guilt-ridden past. Guilt over things that she likely could not control, but still, she always wondered about the what if’s. Those fickle, awful, impossible questions.
But for her now, she finds herself at peace. But maybe it’s nothing to do with the weather or time, but rather the fact there are bigger worries pressing on her mind. Kaos is always a present threat, lingering in the back of her mind. She is not as brave as others, does not patrol in the Marsh, does not investigate the obelisk in hopes of finding answers. No, she prepares in her own way, by collecting herbs, by offering first aid lessons to the Edge. By questing for her own brand of healing magic, hoping to be overly equipped to keep their warriors alive.
But her thoughts are cut short by a familiar voice, and Lyanna turns to find her queen and friend. Her eyes light up and a smile creases her features, glad for a moment in which perhaps business won’t bury their desire to simply talk. “Aly!” she says, always glad to see her friend, her mentor, and her queen. “It has been too long. I would love to remedy that problem right now.” She closes the distance between them, reaching out to bump Alysanne’s neck with her nose if the other mare allows it.
Then, settling in for a nice conversation, she cocks her hind hoof and grins. “How have you been? Other than, I assume, busy being Queen and all that.” She says it with a grin, not blaming Aly one bit for being busy. After all, she grew up a Princess, and she knows what the role of Queen looks like. It’s not unfamiliar to her, and she never blamed her mother for having very little time for her children either. Why would she blame Aly now?
