The season was growing old and Mesec had been neglecting his duties as glazier. Well, he felt like he had been neglecting the herd as a whole - he had been given a chance at this promotion but he really hadn’t proven that Tembovu and Alysanne had been mistaken about placing their faith with him.

But there was still time this season - and maybe he’d find someone else with more of a talent for leading and for crafting when Orangemoon came.

The day was growing late and the heat had broken, making it tolerable to be out of the shade of the trees. An ocean breeze reached Mesec even as he found his way to the meeting tent and the clearing there - bringing to mind a kind blue mare and the seashells tied in her mane. He found a sunny spot near the lake, accompanied (as always) by Lyra while Lucius napped in a tree in the nearby forest. The afternoon was pleasant, especially with that cool breeze, and the trio of silver-and-black creatures found themselves completely at ease.

With Lyra sitting between his forelegs, Mesec tried to think about something that would be good to craft... something that the herd could use...

But what?

let the winds erase me,

like the memory of a kiss

Tallsun has been hot, but she finds that the heat doesn’t really bother her. Not to say she doesn’t feel hot. She does. Her coat is often even darker with sweat, and she keeps to the shade or, if it’s not too brutal a day, takes to the sky where the air is cooler if she can go high enough. Or she finds the heat to be a really great excuse to go herb gathering in the north. But it doesn’t bother her to spend her days trying to stay cool, because it’s better than how she always seems to feel during Frostfall. She hopes, this year, that perhaps the ghosts won’t follow her so much through the snow, but she’s not banking on it. The past two have hurt, something about the cold reminding her of when she came here, and therefore, of everything she’d left behind.

The heat chases away her ghosts. Corbin’s voice doesn’t seem to follow her, and when it does come, there’s something pleasant and reassuring about it instead. So while her mood stays high, she keeps herself busy, often roaming the Edge lately, feeling like she hasn’t spent much time with the members here. It was too easy to lose entire days tending to the garden and the greenhouse, and though she certainly should spend time there, perhaps not all of her time.

The day was growing late when she spots Mesec near the meeting spot, and she nickers in greeting as she makes her way over to the now familiar face. “Mesec,” she calls in a friendly greeting, closing the distance between them. She turns her attention to find Lyra with a smile as well, nodding to the kitsune. “Lyra.” She’s still pretty sure other companions have no idea what she’s saying, but the point usually gets across somehow.

“Am I interrupting, or would you care for some company?” she asks, turning her attention back to the black stallion. She doesn’t want to intrude, but he is hanging out in the herd’s meeting space, which makes her think he’s probably up to something. Or at least not looking for solitude. But she wants to make sure, because some habits die hard, after all. Or they just don’t die at all.

Tilney

Aiya Anor, Elenion Ancalima!

The gilded stag pondered the psithurism and it's domination over the canopy, his eyes of greenleaf and ivy surverying each leaf rattling in the breeze. It seemed the hot season was coming to a close; the temperature falling with the leaves, the  leaves falling to decay. Such was life - so why did it sadden the chestnut doctor so greatly?
A son of the sun he would always be; one of light, flame and warmth. He dwelled where the hearth was, never daring to journey too far from it. Perhaps that was why he feared the changing of seasons and tides, the approaching showers and storms.

'wake! up wake!'
The sqwauking came from his bonded, the large chiroptera shrieking and flapping as he shook the very branches Tilney fixated his endless gaze upon. 'No saden, Tilney. Be happiness on today'.
A smile finally pulled at the stag's lips, though it was his lively bat's extreme lack of interest or knowledge on the subject of grammar that amused him the most. Though, truthfully, It worried him in a way, as he was quite sure other followers were capable of resonable mind speach with a normal understanding of grammar - this was something Peatree had just missed entirely. Had he been a bad... father to him? If that was even what he was to Peatree.

'No saden'
Tilney would agree in response to the enthusastic bat, collecting himself upon all four legs and lurching forward into a standing position. He glanced briefly to the imprint he had left within the meadow grass, smirking ever so slightly (He always found those sorts of things humorous) and then continuing on through the trees, stretching out each tired leg as he went.

It was certainly not long at all before he was lost once again in thought, this time of the earth and how it renewed itself. Why could bodies not do that as the earth did? How did the trees become as old as time, yet stay as fresh as the newest glimmer of life? It seemed awfully unfair.
'Lyanna! Moon-man!'
As quickly as he had slipped into daydreams he was wrenched out, his eyes finding their way to his herd-sister and brother, and oh how glad he was to see them. He had been left far too lonely today.
"Lyanna!" Tilney cooed from the tree-line, striding forth to greet his friend "Mesec, my brother" he would continue to say with a great smile. In truth the man did not know a great deal about the warg, only that he was the son of mother moon and that he could transform into a beast (as he had witnessed with shock upon the glacier).
"The season is ending" He whispered, whistfully casting his gaze across the breeze to witness the trees across the lake and how they shuddered under the wind. Peatree took his place upon the doctor's tines, though crooned his small head over the fox between the crafter's feet. Eventually, the bat grew far too curious and dropped from his bony perch, parachuting to the grass beneath the Moon-man's feet in an effort to observe the kitsune; perhaps even touch.

Fortunately, Mesec wasn’t left on his own for very long. Lyra was getting ready to fall asleep waiting for him to do something when Lyanna arrived - but she perked up at the sound of someone approaching. It was Lyanna! She yipped excitedly in response to the greeting. Mesec smiled warmly at her question, looking briefly down at the empty space of… nothing that was before him. She really wasn’t interrupting anything at all. “Hello Lyanna! Company is exactly what I need, I think.” But he was about to explain when they were joined by another friendly face.

“Tilney! It’s good to see you again.” And another Moon Doctor! This might end up being Mesec’s lucky day. Surely between the three of them they could come up with something that needed to be crafted - the doctors could even need something!

The whispered comment made about the season ending further reminded Mesec that he was running out of time to do his work. “I know.” Mesec lamented. “I need to craft something before the season is out but… I don’t know what to make. Do either of you have any ideas?” He wasn’t making a very good impression as a glazier, but he didn’t mind admitting that he needed some help.

Lyra, meanwhile, was utterly fascinated by Peatree. Her head tilted back and forth as she peered at him while he parachuted down towards her. She had never seen a bat before and she shuffled forward a little bit - her star-speckled nose sniffing at the air and getting close, hoping to touch him lightly. A cautious, low yip escaped her, glancing from Tilney to the bat as if the the antlered stallion would be able to shed some light on just what his companion was.

They are not alone for long, Tilney joining as Mesec says that company is just what he’s looking for. She turns her attention to Tilney for a moment, teal eyes twinkling as she offers him a broad smile. It’s been some time since she’s seen the Moon Doctor outside of their normal business together, but she has always liked Tilney and is glad to have the occasion to do something other than study herbs with him. Not to say that wasn’t fun, of course, because it was one of her favorite things to do. But still, it is always nice to broaden a friendship.

As it turns out, today they would be turning their attention to crafting. Not something Lyanna is overly familiar with, though she had watch Glasgow work on occasion when the mare had served as Glazier. That familiar pang of sorrow hits her at the thought of her friend, but she knows too that Glasgow is safe and sound and happy in the Basin. She could want nothing more for her friend.

Her eyes glance to Tilney for a moment, wondering if he has ideas. “It might sort of hard to build, but the healers could use a proper distiller for making oils.” There were other ways to do it, but it would be nice to have the easiest tool available. They would have to figure out where to get some rubber tubing from to make it work completely, but it would be a start.

“If that is too much, perhaps we just make some fun trinkets or jewelry, things that could be offered to herd members as rewards perhaps?” Not that they often had competitions, but still, there must be something they could use it for. She looks back to Tilney, hoping he has better ideas than she. Lyra catches her attention, shuffling with interest toward Peatree, and Lyanna can’t help but grin. She does love to watch companions, always curious what it’s like to have one. She’s met very few that weren’t adorable, after all.

Aiya Anor, Elenion Ancalima!

In truth, Tilney knew not even the first thing about crafting - he knew nothing about it's limitations or how projects had to be completed to schedules. It was something he might like to dabble in were it something like wood or stone, perhaps metal, but glass? He was't fond of the stuff and how artificial it seemed at times, though really it was a substance he had grown to rely on - without the old glass panes in his lantern he wouldn't be able to see throughout the night.

Peatree was now using a leaf as a shield (literally holding it by the stem and shielding his face with it) as he crept closer to the fox-like creature, his needle-sized fingers curled around the leaf's stem on one hand, the others outstretched towards the kitsune in an attempt to feel it's luscious fur.
'What it Tilney?'
'A fox! or a Kitsune, I think' was Tilney's response through their bond, distracted by his familiar's cautious coos. Dazzled by the voices ofthose he stood in company with, Tilney's gaze quickly diverted back to Mesec who seemed to be quizzing them on what the herd as a whole may need.

The warriors all had shields, spears and shivs, the healer's had their pots, cart and greenhouse. The temple was in progress. Something to add colour to the temple maybe?
"A decoration for the temple perhaps?" Tilney suggested. Soon, more ideas came rushing in the floodgates. "little glass boxes to carry first aid kits...".
His gaze, by now, had drifted far away across the lake - he wasnt really with Mesec and Lyanna anymore. "A glass map of the continent to place in the temple?"
"A mosaic... for the temple floor"
"A bookshelf for the temple-Oh, Mesec,-"
He was brought back to the present by a wayward thought "You don't know where those shiny shivs are do you? I'm heading south soon to look for a stone for the temple and with Kaos about i'd very much like a weapon"
