Etes
lets make the most of the night like were gonna die young

Just a little more, Etes thought as she pushed against the wind which was blowing snow towards her. The cold nipped at her legs, ears, and wing tips but she was determined to get to her mark. She squinted her brown eyes against the oncoming blast of whiteness which died down after it passed over her.

Etes was looking to join a herd called World's Edge. She had heard about it a few times and had enough of being a lone horse. She wanted to have friends and help out. From what she knew World's Edge lived on a cliff that plummeted down to the ocean. If you miss stepped or fell you would likely die.

The black and white paint was pulled out of her thoughts as another large blast of frosty wind blew in her face. The mare spread out one of her white wings and covered her eyes and ears as she pressed on. The trees around her did little for protection.

Once Etes thought she was close enough to the herd she sighed and closed her eyes for a few minutes. The blizzard was staring to die down, for the mare could already feel the wind not ramming into her so hard. She opened her eyes again and called out. "Hello? Is anyone there?" Silently she hoped the wind hadn't carried her voice away.

It was fortunate for Etes that she walked within the lands of Wind and Darkness. Though the wind was strong, it carried the curious, questioning voice of the winged mare to the svelte, charcoal ears of the WeyrLeader. It was happily coincidental too, that the Leader was not far from where the paint mare stood, for she was patrolling the borders of her land as she so often did, ensuring its safety and security for all of those within.

The dark mare with golden eyes peered at the painted femme with interest. The creature was painted monochromatically, and while she had dark patches, it gave her a strange camouflage in the stark environment of FrostFall. Mirage approached her with her illusionary cloak forgotten for now, appearing as nothing more than a simple, average, unassuming black mare. Chiselled tiara tilted in greeting to the mare as she neared, acknowledging the request for company and offering herself as one to give this Etes her attention.

"There are many here." Her exotic tones proffered the words, a subtle, shadowy smile twisting her lips as she spoke. "Do you seek merely anyone, or someone in particular?" The query was spoken softly, the new mare would have to be focussed upon her to hear it. With mild interest upon her façade, the little black shadow mare awaited a reply.

Etes ears perked forward as a dark mass headed towards her. From a distance it seemed like a horse but she wasn't quite sure so she puffed up her wing feathers a bit and got more defensive.

As the figure got closer Etes had realized it was a horse, a black mare with piercing gold eyes. She looked like a creature of the night with the darkest pelt the pegasus had ever seen.

I actually dont know anyone here. I am just looking for a herd to join," Etes explained dipping her head to the mare. "My name is Etes." The winged mare smiled and flicked her wing tips as she wondered if this mare could help her at all.

The dark shadow mare watched the reaction of the femme with an impassive expression; her stony façade gave away nothing, but inside her thoughts were reeling. The mare showed promise for taking a rank of Protector, though she would need training. The immediate defensive stance she took was noted, though Mirage did not respond to it in turn.

"Etes." The mare's warm, sultry tones repeated the name, dedicating it to her memory so that she might recall upon it in the future. "I am Mirage." Exotically accented tones offered the introduction, though she did not proffer her title nor rank to the painted one just yet. As she had spoken her name, her image seemed to fade, as the illusionary magic touched her pelt for a moment, displaying her very namesake. But it lasted no more than a second, before the physical edges of her body became solid once more.

"And in your joining a herd, what would you bring? What do you believe a herd could do for you?" The questions were posed with a sense of importance; what exactly did this Etes believe she would find here? What did she strive for, long for, what were her aims in life? All this, and more, Mirage wanted to know.
