The sun had set several hours ago yet she was still traveling. This was because so far she had failed to find a place to rest for the night, a safe, comfortable place where she could curl up and sleep without fearing anything. Sadly those places tended to be hard to find, especially when you didn't know what you were looking for. Naltin had been traveling ever since she had first woken up earlier that morning and was rather tired. Hopefully she would find somewhere to rest soon.

As she walked she couldn't help but notice a feeling of first begin to creep its way into her throat. A small sigh left her at this. Currently she was in a unfamiliar forest, which meant she had no idea were there might be a river or stream. "Perfect," she muttered to herself. "Even if I do find somewhere to sleep I'll probably die of dehydration. Life sure is amazing."

With a angry huff the pawed up the ground, pulling up some grass with her hoof. If you looked at the Filly it was clear that she was not in the best condition. Rather small, thin, and over all weak looking. Life had not been kind to her.

Spring was coming, but not quick enough. Little green shoots popped of here and there, shinning emerald heads begging for warming embrace; they would soon die if none came. Nighttime proved to be a stern winter master for all, and especially when equine avian’s tried to tame sky over earth. Bitter winds could easily bat a creature around; whilst feathers lost their collected warmth—stuck and froze together. He knew how fruitless such ventures were, so this night he chose to hoof it.

Bulk brushed through snowy undergrowth, feet crunched ice hardened snow with each step. Golden gaze ever wary and on alert; this was job tonight and he took it very seriously. “Watch the threshold,” they said. Intent was to gather new recruits for his home, but no blind eye would be turned away if someone proved in need. Good’ol Midas, making the world a better place for all.

As luck would have it, unmarked fragrances lingered; he paused to pluck one as target, and then set off to follow. Following wouldn’t take long. Distance between the two strangers quickly closed, before he could change mind she was standing ahead. Small. Malnourished. Not exactly the solider material he had been seeking. Despite calculating outward impression, this man wouldn’t judge; he had once witnessed a half-dead colt liquefy metal and cox it from layers upon layers of rock and ice.

Heart softened when he saw youthful muscles flex and paw feverously at soil to reveal rotting plant life. A little food and comfort would do this soul some good. Limbs bent body from the shadows, tenor voice called out, “Good eve young miss.”
