Due to the close proximity between the Threshold and the Foothills, it didn’t take long for Romani to lead the way back home. All along the journey she engaged Abdullah into courteous conversation, simply curious to get to know the dark dappled mare a bit better. Still, the palomino made sure to keep her questions polite and non-prying. Regardless of the mystery surrounding Abdullah, she was delighted that the Arabian had accepted her offer, and idly Romani hoped that those of the Foothills wouldn’t mind that she had brought home another to the herd.

Eventually the thick forest of the Threshold gave way to the recognizable, rocky outcrops of land of the Foothills, where the snow was not as prominent as the lower regions of Helovia. The fast approaching season of Birdsong was even more prominent up here, birds singing and chirping lazily in the warm rays of the sun. The Haflinger mare was paced at an unhurried trot, cream mane and tail whipping in the slight breeze, and with a smile she turned her head to face Abdullah.

“Welcome to the Foothills,” Romani said welcomingly, slowing from her trot to a calm walk. Azure eyes took in the familiarity of her home with a smile. “Make yourself at home here. I’m sure you’ll meet the others in time… Would you like for me to show you around?”

[OOC: I hope this is alright for a starter... X3]

Abdullah

Dullah continued on. Answering simple questions and continued to hold onto the conversation. It became quiet for a while, that is until they ventured through the borders. The smell of Romani finally pieced in with the smell of the new territory, Abdullah automatically connecting this as the Foothills. To be reassured, Romani spoke words that made her guess correct. So this was home? The surviving snow was frail and barely about. The hopes of spring much higher here. The dapple mare's heart began to beat happily as she moved about. Pace becoming faster, yet still steady and graceful. Tail arched high, proudly held, as well as her neck craned and held at a presentable view for the Arabian descendants.

"Oh my, it is more beautiful than I immagined," the mare paused slightly "a tour would be wonderful." a simple nod in agreement. Though Abdullah had seen places with far more presentable looks she found the Foothills rather appetizing. Pleasing to her cause of adventure. It looked to hold its own promise of adventure. Surely she could indulge in many activities here, the place burned with life. Much like the lively creature beside her. Maybe Romani wasn't as high spirited as Dullah, there was some energy to spunk up within her. "I do not mean to offend you by asking such a personal question, as you barely know me," sky eyes peeked at the red, watching for any awkward expressions "you've stated you as well are new among these lands, where have you ventured from?" Curious tones pitched in the air.

[ooc- these two are MUST friends xD]

Romani watched as Abdullah pranced ahead of her, admiring the fine features of the Arabian and how delighted the other mare seemed to be upon seeing the Foothills for the first time. The palomino was thrilled that Abdullah seemed to approve, as she would have felt horrible if the dappled grey had been disappointed in the terrain. Ears perked forward, eyes bright with joy, Romani tossed her head into the air and nickered softly. The excitement radiating off of Abdullah was contagious and she couldn’t help but feel the thrill of exhilaration.

“Isn’t it just?” The Haflinger inquired pleasantly, picking up her trot once more to continue showing Abdullah around. “I thought the same when I first came here.”

At the dappled mare’s question, Romani turned to look at her, pausing for a moment as she collected her thoughts. The inquiry was somewhat unexpected, but she had no problems in answering. After all, Romani had no secrets to hide. Besides, if she and Abdullah spoke more, perhaps they could become good friends, something that the red mare lacked in Helovia.

“It’s alright, Dullah… I don’t mind talking about it. I’m an adventurer like you, actually. I’m from a small herd rather far from Helovia. I came to Helovia seeking the unknown, and what I found was something that I honestly wasn’t expecting; a home. Svetlana, our Chieftess, found me and brought me to the Foothills, much like I have done with you.” It was after she had finished speaking that Romani found herself growing quiet, azure eyes glancing to her new companion for a few moments before deciding to redirect the question back at her.

“What about yourself, Dullah? Where do you come from? Of course, if you don’t want to answer, you don’t have to…” For the last thing that the Haflinger wanted to do was upset her new, should she say it, friend.

[OOC: Oh, I know! X3 They’re adorable together… I find it kind of funny; one of your character’s wants to kill Romani, and the other wants to be her friend. XD]

Abdullah

The spark of excitement from Romani opened Dullah up completely. This new found friend was for sure to be kept. Not someone to deceive her. No no. Someone to be there for her. A true kind friend. When Romani began to answer Abdullah quietly listened, intent on hearing just her story. Soaking it all in. Imagining this Svetlanna. Though it was a hard manor to do, in the sake she had no knowledge of the chieftess at all. When the question became redirected to her after a matter of time in silence she held her tongue. Picking which bits and pieces to tell. She just couldn't sum it up in a few lines like Romani.

Off she went, words spewing like a waterfall, "Romani, I have no problem with speaking such matters, but fact is. This is going to be a long speech." eyeing her new companion with glistening eyes "My mother died when I was young, my father raised me. I wasn't much a fan of him, we really just didn't have a connection. I didn't want to be what he wanted me to be and we never really clicked. Eventually I set out on my own." pausing for air, "Here's where it gets interesting. I happened to stumble across this beautiful land. Flowers, trees, a still glassy lake. It was beyond what words could describe, though it held a secret. The first knight, or so they called themselves, to stumble upon me was a red beast. An equine with wings, red eyes and fangs like a snake. He chased me far beyond its borders. I never went back. Such a pitty of a waste."

Trotting along side Romani still, Abdullah pulled her attention to her surroundings. Losing herself now, deep in thought, deep in her memory "I found many more lands the same way, though not all were devilish creatures, many just disapproved of my presence for being an outcast. Including one such herd (I always wish to forget this but it can not stray from my mind) I indulged in conversation with a young colt. By the name of Ilair, he was a fine young thing. Strong and independent. The leader happened to come across our little meeting and practically beat him back to the camp. Blood, screams, and so much more. I couldn't help the young boy, for I was being escorted away by tall dark stallions with emotionless faces." .... "After that I really just walked. In and out of new territories. No purpose in mind. I longed to find a home of my own and now thanks to you, I have." focus regained to reality. A warm smile present on her lips, after a look of unfortune possessed her throughout the speech.

[ooc- xD oh goodness I know! lol! but definitely more Romani X Abby threads(: hehe]

She didn’t mind in the slightest when Abdullah claimed that her tale was a long one. Everyone was entitled to speak their past, and the Haflinger believed that her new friend was no exception, and so polite as ever, she listened as the Arabian began her story.

Romani knew that if she had asked Abdullah about her past when they had first met in the Threshold, she probably wouldn’t have gotten an answer. Although this dappled mare seemed somewhat secretive, the Haflinger was sure that she had good reasons, and after hearing her tale, it seemed she was right. While an adventurer in her own right, Romani had seen and experienced many different kinds of customs in the lands she had stumbled upon. There had been herds where stallions reigned supreme and mares were treated as shiny, pretty trinkets, and those where mares had been the ones in charge, regarding stallions like slaves.

No matter what she had experienced in her travels, however, Romani couldn’t fathom this ‘knight’ that Abdullah spoke of. A horse with wings was no surprise to her, but one graced with red eyes and fangs of a snake… It sounded so surreal. The thought alone made her shudder. And the story of Ilair, a handsome young colt who Abdullah had met made her heart throb in emotion. It served as a bitter reminder that not everyone was as lucky as they were, to be graced with freedom…

When Abdullah finished speaking, the palomino couldn’t help but smile at her final words. “You’re very welcome, Dullah,” The red mare murmured, finally slowing her trot down to a complete standstill, turning her compact body slightly to face her new friend, “I’m sorry for the horrors you’ve experienced… But I hope that now, in Helovia, a new chapter can open for you.”

Turning her head, she looked out across the sights of the foothills. She breathed in deeply, taking in the scents of their new homeland. Somewhere a bird chirped, the song a sound of eagerness for the spring that was steadily approaching. Wanting to cheer her friend up from the painful memories of her past, Romani turned on her haunches, a bright smile on her lips and azure eyes filled with excitement. Bracing her body weight upon her back legs, the palomino gave a low rear, front hooves coming only about a feet off of the ground before colliding with the melting snow. A nicker left her throat and she spoke.

“Would you care to run with me, Dullah? Feel the freedom of the Foothills?”

Abdullah

"Horrors could be one word for it but then again you could also call them lessons?" she wasn't quite sure if they would be lessons because they didn't truly teach something. Only showed her how gruesome the world could be. That's not really a teaching, or is it?

Abdullah slowed along with Romani. Quietly shuffling her feet to stand comfortably. Neck still arched respectfully. "Running would be lovely, I just love the feel of the wind throughout my mane!" she said excitedly. Tossing her mane freely, putting her muzzle to the sky. Stretching the long thin neck out. Pulling in the deep scents of her new home. She caught the sight of a boulder. Without warning she looked to Romani sharply, smiled in an ornery fashion, and jumped forwards. Propelling with her hind legs. Front hooves crashed to the earth and she started off fastly. Jumping over the boulder. Tail carried high she nickered looking back to Romani to see if the mare was coming.

The feeling of wind whipping through her mane felt so good. Surging faster and faster by the minute the lithe mare dodged around a tree. Making a sharp turn in direction, to the left and then between a few more trees. Hoping the red palomino wasn't too far behind. Not too far to enjoy the lovely feel!
