VISERYS

merely this and nothing more.

The Windtossed Foothills. It sounded pathetic in his ears really, but he would be willing to look past that for now. To Viserys, this was very much a temporary abode, until he would reclaim the kingdom of his father. The pearlescent stag needed to gather an army and all his strength in order to go against the hellhounds that had slain his family and usurped his birthright. The thought made him quite upset, tail flicking furiously behind him as he trotted across the borders of the land. He had left Daenerys to linger at the border, firmly instructing her not to stir until he came back for her. They came fresh from the Secret Grove where he had sealed his insurance, created his true heir of the purest blood. Hopefully Daenerys would keep herself alive at least until his son was born, for he was certain it would be a prince; after that, he couldn’t imagine having anything to do with her. He could raise his son on his own; making sure that, from the moment he was ready to leave his mother’s teat, he would follow in his footsteps.

Halting in a clearing of trees, the platinum stag raised his delicate skull towards the sky, nostrils flared wide as he whinnied for a welcome committee. It was hard, but he managed to not sound too impatient nor demanding. This would take the entire acting skills he had in him, so that they wouldn’t raise suspicion and drive him out. The smug smirk on his soft lips was replaced by a slightly stiffer attempt to look friendly, posing with a finely arched nape and his hooves neatly placed upon the dry grass. First impressions were important, and Viserys was an expert in giving the exact one he wanted. The mare Solstice, whom had greeted him at the Threshold, had not smelled foul play. She is probably thick, like the rest of them, he thought with disgust, as they let him wait. The long flight had made him weak; he needed somewhere that would accept him without question, where he could plot the grandeur of his return to the throne.

Someone had come, crossing the borders and quickly making his way deeper into his herd's territory before finally announcing his presence and calling for a welcoming party. Indy did not like it. Strangers coming into his home unannounced was not welcome, as unavoidable as it was. The great stallion heaved a sigh as he drew himself from his grazing and angled his body toward the call. He thrust his muzzle into the air and breathed in deeply, the scent of a stallion filled his nose. He answered with his own rumbling call before he moved in the other stallion's direction.

His ears flicked back and forth, taking in the sounds around him, listening specifically for another of the stallion's calls. When he finally came upon the clearing the sound had come from he stopped and stood in the shadow of the trees and watched him as he gathered himself and forced on a mask of kindness and patience. Indy's long tail flicked at his legs as he stepped from the trees and revealed all seventeen hands of his muscular body.

"Who are you?" There was something off about the other stallion. Something about him wasn't right, but Indy refrained from judging him right away. Judgement would be reserved for when the stallion finally spoke. When he moved and allowed Indy to read his body language and pick him apart. "What business do you have here?"

Finally things seemed to get kicking. If there was one thing Vis hated more than common life, it was waiting. His elegant lobes perked in the direction of the rumbling call that was greeting him, senses alert for the faintest ruffle of leaves, anything that could give away the approach of this stranger. The pearly stag noticed the large, black hessian as he stood in the shadows; it amused him that the other thought to spy on him like he wouldn’t see him. How can you not notice someone of such mass and height? Viserys snorted softly, eyes watching unimpressed as the brute stepped closer. If he was hoping to intimidate, it wasn’t exactly working.

The two of them were as different as night and day; Viserys, delicate of built, quick on his feet and almost feminine in his beauty, up against this stranger, handsome indeed, but pitch black and a built that was far superior in physical strength. "Good eve, stranger. I am Viserys, son of Jaeherys, and I seek a permanent dwelling among these lands," he said, voice as sleek as satin and face blank of other expression other than that of stiff friendliness. "I learned of The Foothills from Mirage, of The Qian. I was also greeted by a young maiden at the Threshold, golden and white in color, but I’m afraid I didn’t catch her name. She carried with her sweet perfume of forest and hillsides, which made my heart long to see where she originated," he continued, pausing his beautifully articulated stream of words, allowing it to sink in.

With the way the black hessian had stridden in and downright demanded his intentions, Viserys hazarded a guess that he assumed a position on responsibility within the herd. Tilting his head a little to the right, he looked the other in the eye, his violets glistening vividly. "I was not disappointed by the beauty of your lands, as they far exceed my expectations of grandeur. I have come a long way and am weary of travel, and I could imagine nothing sweeter than to be allowed rest in this beautiful scenery, he said, falling quiet, waiting for the other to voice a reply.

The brothers smiled, for their sister had requested of them to keep an eye out for a pale steed seeking residence in the Foothills. Viserys, she had said, and he had a sister, who was protected by the Qian. The bond of these siblings was a healthy one, it offered closeness, security and love, and was never questioned; no matter the distance that separated them, nor the time that stretched between their meetings, the bond remained unchanged always. But the brothers came across this meeting with a curious glint to their predatory eyes. Craniums bowed to the Chief, recognising him as the figure of authority in the herd from the herd meeting, but their eyes did not leave this disgusting creature who smelt of recent activities that suggested procreation.

“Mirage told us about you.” Maskan spoke, his voice dry like the weather that plagued them recently. The brother circled him now – they weren’t trying to intimidate him, though that would have been an added bonus, no, they were merely trying to absorb everything about their potential enemy. “You stink of sex.” Madyrn commented roughly, his voice similar to that of rocks grinding against gravel. The brothers knew the heavy stench, having pleasured themselves with many a maiden in their long lifetimes. Madyrn kept his orange eyes upon the pale one as Maskan addressed their herd’s master.

“Mirage held concerns for the wellbeing of this one’s sister, this Viserys demanded one night with her before she would be allowed to wander under the protection of the Qian.” He hoped that having Gossamer as his mate, Indy would at least know of Mirage and her fellows. Madyrn, being much more direct, spoke his thoughts once more, his lips curling into a savage smirk. “From his stench, I can’t help but wonder exactly what it was he did with her.” The brothers were joking, it didn’t cross their mind that one would possible think of touching their own sibling in that sort of way – but that the idea cross their minds at all showed that perhaps it was a possibility in other, slimier characters.

The brother stopped in their circling of the steed now, their positions as guardians of this realm now made clear as they stood beside Indy; it was not their call as to whether this snake-like stallion would be allowed to join or not, but they did enjoy making it known that Viserys would be watched very closely.

Almost as if she had been called, Sosltice appeared. The small gathering had caught her attention. Moving carefully she watched as Indy spoke to the stallion she had greeted in the Threshold not long ago. He had seemed hostile, and once Mirage had arrived Solstice had little more to say. The mare that was with him was under Mirage's protection, that much she knew. However as she approched the smell of sex hit her full force.... Had someone already caught the new stallion's attention.... or was something more foul at play... She moved forward gracefully, her neck arched up. She slowed up as the brothers she had seen once before circled the stallion. She spoke calmly, hazel eyes fixed on the pale one. "I see you found your way here...... But from the smell of you... Well you reek of sex.." Solstice still choose to with hold her name from the stallion. His frame reminded her so much of her mother, but he was far from her temperment. She stepped to stand next to Madryn, fully argeeing in his thoughts of the smell. After all, she was the mother of a yearling. Not like she was some prude who had not smelled the very same before....

He was a snake. Every fiber of Indy's body resonated with his judgement, but the stallion remained stone faced as the other spoke of his desire to make the Foothills his home. Viserys spoke of Mirage and a group called The Qian, but unlike his mate, Indy didn't know who she was or what the group stood for so the recommendation was useless to him. The other stallion continued on to speaking of Solstice meeting him in the Threshold. Indy withheld the young mare's name out of feeling that she had not given it to him for a specific reason. Maybe she had gotten the same feeling from him that he had. Maybe she'd noticed the stiffness in his body and face as he forced himself to speak kind words.

An ear tilted as the sound of hoofsteps drifted toward them, followed moments later by the brothers Mayrn and Maskan. They spoke of Mirage as well but Indy was more inclined to listen to them then he was this strange newcomer. He stood, allowing the warriors to circle the new stallion, watching him for any sign of aggression or slip in his facade. Seconds later Solstice arrived and agreed with one of the brother's sentiments that the stallion reeked of sex. Indy, however, would not hold that against him. It was in a stallion's nature to venture to the grove and mares often waited there. However ... if the stallion took an unwilling mare that was another situation entirely.

The Chief turned to Maskan as he addressed him, speaking once more of Mirage and the Qian. "One night." With his sister. Indy snorted in disgust, already assuming the worst from the stallion who had crossed his borders. Madyrn echoed Indy's sentiments, causing the stallion to snort once more, before settling his gaze on Viserys. "I don't trust you." He said point blank. "After what our warriors have come to say I wonder if I should even permit you a chance to live among us." He wondered what Gossamer would say if he turned someone away without even giving them a fair chance. He had a feeling that she wouldn't be thrilled about it. "I will, however, give you that chance." He then turned his head to Maskan. "I want you and your brother to keep an eye on him. If he does anything suspicious I want to know."

Indy then looked at Viserys again. "Mares in this herd are treated as equals." He warned the small, pale stallion. "You demand nothing of them. If I find out you do .." Indy trailed off then chuckled. "Let's just say geldings are far less demanding and more in control of their more base desires."

VISERYS

merely this and nothing more.

There were more of them. Two large hessians joined them, their hides too painted black, and with such similarity that suggested twins. Vis flicked his tail lazily, keeping his expression unaffected. A true snake knows when to rattle his tail and when to lay low, and so when the two sent him their nasty looks, Viserys let a faint smile slither across his kissers. They bore resemblance to that wench Mirage as well, their sister he would presume, and when they spoke he was certain. So, that little bitch had gone and ratted him out to her big brothers? He wasn’t surprised, seemed like the kind of trick she would pull. How very nice of her – Viserys preferred to know every detail of who he was up against; friends close, enemies closer. None of them cared to introduce themselves by name, so they would have to put up with the ones he felt like calling them.

"My reputation precedes me once again, I see. She failed to mention either of you," he spoke sweetly, directed at the brothers. His eyes were hard when they returned the glares that were sent his way, and he did not mind to cower as Dick and Douche started to circle him. Take a good, hard look bitches. You’ll want to remember, he thought, the smile returning to his face. The comment about his smell only made him grin and shrug his shoulder. "Came across a willing wench on my roaming. No crime for a steed to enjoy what is rightfully offered to him," he spoke, obviously lying but upholding the act flawlessly. Viserys was a good-looking chap, nothing suspicious in the maidens flocking to him. It was hardly something to hold against a free soul.

The brothers proceeded to talk of him as if he wasn’t there, something that never failed to stir his temper. His tail flicked a couple of times and the pearly stag raised a brow, but while he was boiling on the inside, his reaction was rather tame. They fed Mirage’s little schemes to Honcho and it made him feel sick with disgust, but his voice was merely indignant when he spoke. "I cannot recognize those accusations, and frankly I find them offensive. I don’t know what wicked thoughts you have of me, a stranger to both of you. Of course I have no idea of how custom is within your family, and I fear I wouldn’t want to know," he said, disgust on his face. What made Viserys such a convincing liar was partly due to years of training, partly because he had learned to convince himself that he was speaking truthfully.

The common fae from the Threshold had joined them, chiming in her own accusatory opinion. What the hell, have I stumbled upon a bunch of puritans? Do they have some sort of club? He thought, sighing at her words. "I am the only family Daenerys has left, goodbyes are difficult for her. She is young and gets flustered easily. At this moment, she is bathing in a small pond not far from here, trying to calm her delicate temper," he spoke to yet another nameless face. Plain Jane, we will call her. Why was he even explaining himself to her? He owed her nothing but to spit in her face.

He turned to Honcho as he spoke, listening in silence, and blank of face. You don’t trust me? Might be the smartest decision you made all your life, bubba. Yet the hessian granted him a chance, and that would be all he required. Looking over at Dick and Douche, he directed his words at Honcho. "I must once again stress that I do not recognize the wording of what has been said – I merely requested Daenerys to join me while I sought you out. But of course, the other way it sounds much more intriguing," he said calmly. Believable? Quite. The threat that was voiced towards him next did not shake him. "Certainly. I have not given any reason to conclude that I wouldn’t know how to treat a lady," he said, nodding respectfully to Honcho. If it was possible for an equine, he would’ve possibly thrown up in his mouth a little. Alas, it was not, so he continued to boil on inside, with the best pokerface he possessed.

From the shadows she stepped, disengaging from the cover of shade and trees where her dark and far from even coloration had allowed her to meld. She'd listened and watched, observed and decided. So now she moved into the open, stepping deliberately into the semi-circle her herdmates had made around this pale stranger. Her approach brought her moving up behind, then beside him, dark muzzle tipping toward snowy withers before she snorted softly and stepped away, white-laced tail flicking against her haunches.

"Strange, don't you think, for such a proud stallion to wish to have his sister beside him on so short a journey." She murmured, dark eyes studying Viserys openly. "Especially when that sister would have had a fine and strong escort within Mirage and her Akaith." Her expression was carefully neutral, though an ear tipped toward the others. There was a flutter of wings and a blue dragon, colored in shades both dark and light, settled upon her haunches.

"I wonder what she thought to see her brother take another mare without a thought to the consequences. But I imagine a virile steed like yourself does not mind leaving a string of unacknowledged heirs behind him after a brief encounter of passion." There was a challenge in those dark eyes, if he paid close enough attention to notice. So full of pretty words was he, so much like other white stallions she'd known. Full of himself. But she could play word games as well.

"Though I wonder as well what your definition of lady is, and how much your treatment would differ from mare to mare. Adolescent, elderly, warrior, diplomat. Unicorn, pegasus, hybrid." Here, she smiled. "Smoke the Wild Rose, Military Chieftess of the Foothills, am I. Bonded of blue Zaffre. Once outcast, once healer, once of distant lands. Leader by challenge won, leader by invitation. Mother, daughter, ally. Foe when circumstances demanded." Her voice was even and calm, deliberately informing him of her name, rank, and carefully selected highlights of her history. There was no posturing, no display of might. What he made of the fact that she was quite comfortable with sharing her name when the others remained anonymous, she didn't care. It was a warning, if nothing else.

Lies. They were like poison dripping from a snake’s freshly used fangs, the brothers believed nothing he spoke. He was a good actor, they had to give him that; but they were better at their own job. They would indeed keep a close eye on this one, as unpleasant and slimy as he was. Mirage had already charged them with that duty, and so when Indy suggested it, they merely nodded, their gazes never shifting from this pathetic soul quivering on his pedestal of feigned offence. That Indy allowed this creature a chance did not please them, but it was not their herd to run, they were merely warriors, and would protect the herd from any dangers that dared to stir havoc. The brothers themselves didn’t mind havoc, or chaos, having been expert mischief stirrers in their younger days, they easily saw the amusement in stepping on toes and causing mild offence with their brash ways. But they were not evil as such.

Solstice arrived, her presence quiet, her speech softly spoken and screaming leagues more about the unnerving steed before them that if she had openly accused him of what it was everyone was thinking about. Viserys did well to maintain his act, for the brothers weren’t foolish enough to believe there was an honest bone in this filth’s body, though his voice did allow undertones of disrespect and insults to slip through every now and then. The brothers smiled to each other, a menacing smile, one that confirmed they were on the same wavelength when it came to dealing with this scum. Smoke was next, her strong character reminding the brothers very much of their sisters, with her wisely placed words and subtle presence. Though they had only had few meetings, they knew to respect this one, listening to her ties and snippets of her history confirmed their decision to hold her with some esteem. She was quietly powerful, just like their little sister, who had built herself quite the following in her short time here. They liked her.

“You speak so caringly after your sister.”
“And yet you claim to spend the night with another anyway.”
“After making it abundantly clear that you wanted nothing more,”
“-than one night with her.”

The brothers articulated their point in slow, obvious tones, they thought of this stallion as scum, they believed now that he had indeed taken advantage of her. Why else then would his sister feel the need to wash herself, to rid herself of his touch? But the brothers doubted they would get to find out directly; Mirage would save Daenerys, and the Qian would ensure this Viserys never touched her again.

Lazulli has been feeding this meeting to Gossamer who was busy with other such herd matters. Such things being discussed were those of attempting to work out a plan to create underwater aqueducts to funnel water from the high north down to the valley so the herd could have water to drink. However, the arrival of this newcomer was not lost on her. She approves of her warrior's decisions and actions. They are harsh, but they know this horses background. Sickly sweet he is, disturbed, and distraught. However, she knows her warriors and Mad&Mask will keep their promises.

Lazulli himself does not say anything, but perches himself upon Indy as the stallion speaks.

Indy restrained himself from rolling his eyes when the stallion claimed to not understand what he was being accused of. It didn't take a genius to figure out what had more than likely went on during the one night he'd demanded of his sister. The fact that she was bathing in the pond didn't sit well with him, either. "Is she bathing in the pond to calm her temper or to rid herself of the stink you left on her?" In his heart he knew the answer to his question. He just wondered how long this newcomer would be willing to lie.

The arrival of Smoke brought a warm smile to the stallion's face. "Ahh, Smoke. Nice of you to join us." He slipped into comfortable silence as Smoke spoke to Viserys, outlining her history that brought respect out of anyone who heard it. His weight shifted and he turned his head to look at Lazulli, who had landed on his back, obviously informing Gossamer of the meeting.

When Madyrn and Maskan spoke again they seemed to echo Indy's sentiments. The stallion spoke caringly for his sister, yet he sensed it was all a front. Indy turned his head toward Smoke, his ears tilting toward her. "I've asked Madyrn and Maskan to keep an eye on him while he is here." He informed her. "Would you be willing to deal out any pushiment for broken laws?"

VISERYS

merely this and nothing more.

The pale ghost snorted. They didn’t know a damn thing about him, yet here they were, acting so coy. If it hadn’t gotten him into immense trouble, he would’ve spat in their faces and turned on his heels. His stay in the Foothill’s may be shorter than he had anticipated indeed. A wench steps out of the shadows and Vis only just restrains himself in rolling his eyes. Great, let’s get another female in here. I’m sure she will contribute with a load of shit, like the rest of them, Viserys thought, and as she walked closer to him, his lobes lay flat against the back of his nape, tail swishing violently. He did not care for her goddamn inspection; he’d just about had it with their pitiful charade. His eyes were cold when he looked to this new bitch, more questions being flung at him. "What can I say? I’m a sentimental creature, you can’t possibly hold that against me," He spoke calmly, pausing to collect himself. "As for this Mirage, strong may be, but a stranger nonetheless. Where I come from, you don’t just throw your family into the claws of strangers," he said smoothly, blank of face, the impenetrable mask of blankness back in its place on his handsome features.

He understood that she was out to vex him, so he shrugged his shoulder at her next vile string of disgusting words. "She didn’t see anything," he merely said, not caring to comment on her other foolish comments. If he should indeed have left any hypothetical offspring behind, he wouldn’t have been the first. Obviously, this wench knew nothing of the male nature, and he pitied her stupidity. He would call her Tart, for that she was, in his eyes. Viserys completely disregarded anything else she had to say; instead he just looked at her with those eyes, a green fire burning within their violet depths. Why even bother? A Tart isn’t worth the time and effort. Dick and Deuce continued to wade all over the place, and Vis was growing quite weary of their dumbness. "Those words were not the ones spoken, those were words invented by your sister to create intrigue. I must applaud her; she certainly made quite a stir. I requested that Daenerys follow me here, and because of the late hour, it seemed only reasonable that she waited till the morrow to take her leave, instead of scrambling through the night like some lawless fugitive," he said, putting an end to the cleaving of words.

A dragon joins them, but Viserys takes little notice of it, for Honcho has decided to huff and puff some more. "Your assumptions are quite vivid, I must say. And disturbed at that," Viserys said calmly, unreadable still, not letting a single strand of emotion drip through, for he would not feed the hounds any more pleasure. He had to laugh a dry laugh as Indy spoke to Smoke about breaking laws. "Do you honestly think I would drag myself through this whole charade, just so I could break the rules and get thrown back out? I’m insulted. I was told of the Foothills’ tolerance and hospitality – and rarely have I received a warmer welcome. Now, if you will excuse me, I will go see if Daenerys is okay, or if she has been put through the same treatment as myself," he said, bowing to the gathered and waltzing off toward where he knew Daenerys would be resting. He had had quite enough of Dick, Deuce, Honcho, Plain Jane and Tart for many days to come.
