Faelene stood at the point where the sand met forest, dispatching into earth. The trees had their warnings upon them. Death and pain happens here. Faelene wanted to take them for their words, and wait to see if she must enter or if perhaps this golden lion was somewhere else. No point taking risks for nothing, and she had yet to trust this wasn't some kind of trickery to this task. Head looming about to get looks at different angles, her nostrils quivered, a collection of sweat at the back of her skull, pressing her hair to the arch of her neck. By a faint overcast it was dark even on the outskirts of the Deep Forest. Often her tinted eyes of silver would reach to the gray coverage waiting to see a dance of lightning in warning of the Time God or if in fact a fall of rain to wet the earth, since it had only begun drying. There was no moisture to the air, nor drop upon her hide. Everything except for the scars carved across the trees appeared normal, and her senses could not detect anything out of place. What was she to do now? There was darkness lingering between the skins, needles, and limbs. Was this where he was? Might someone, or something know?

Unknowing this forest, and aware it looked like it would grow before her eyes the further she wandered in she let out a whinny to see if it would echo or she might cause something to stir. She had to start somewhere, and it might as well be here. In the back of her mind she couldn't help wonder if she should have told somebody where she was, or what she was doing. Could she even answer those questions for herself? No, she thought. She didn't want anyone to know, if she failed she rather be the only one with the thought. Frowning, she clipped her hoof against the ground in quiet scolding. She wouldn't fail. She would find this golden lion if it was the last thing she did. There had to be some worth in accomplishing this, and maybe she might earn the tiniest ounce of respect from the God. If not, it wouldn't be any skin off her nose, she was hardly the top of anyone's list.

Fresh from the fire, the ghost of a golden eagle rises from the ash of a fallen tree. Plucked from its standing by the Time God himself, it has been returned to its rightful place and so have its ghosts. The eagle spreads its massive wings and takes flight before the unicorn mare's unsuspecting eyes, spreading fire with its feathers and pain with its hollow look. From its opened beak come words that without explanation, the unicorn mare will be able to understand. And as she speaks the equine's native tongue, as tears drip from her empty eyes, her fire sucks life from the air.

"The being you seek does not rest beneath these trees. Find him, my daughter's savior; thank him for me. In him you will find your answers."

And then with a drop of ice falling from her eyes, with the soft shatter of it against the hard ground, cold is released and her fire extinguished. There is a bright light and then nothing- the ghost of the eagle is gone.

The hoofed creature gives a jerk from the rising form, but holds herself to stand, watching and waiting for what is to come. The sight of fire, and eyes void of anything but hurt are hard to look from, and capture her undivided attention. It gives her an answer, and possible clues to the end of her search. Captivated by the fiery eagle, she watched till it blinds her, and nothing remains.Does not rest beneath these trees. Was it a clue or just a choice of words?
What of the rest? Thank him for me, my daughter's savior. Something else she would need to keep a hold on. It was strange, she would find her answers?

A wary sigh, she turned from the forest, quietly heading north while she tried to decide what next. While she was here she planned to do a thorough search, hating to make another long journey. With the slow rise of the moon Faelene was headed to a place that made this forest seem innocent, and safe.
