Helovia.

So this was the sprawl of land whispered about, the peninsula that housed creatures and magic that seemed work of the devil to the Godless outside its borders. Their whispers had not changed the vapid stare of his eyes, amusement tinting his inner thoughts as they spoke in hurried squeaks. They were terrified of magic, unknowing that the silent stallion hailed from a land where females carried such powers. Already they were wary of his massive two toned wings, but the gentle giant could care less. He had grown up with them, they were as natural to him as breathing air by now.

Knowing that creatures of similar distortions hailed from this land, Helovia, had made the golden buckskin eager to explore its hidden lands. He had made it to a thickly vegetated place, annoyance subtly visible on his normally passive visage. He was not a hulking nightmare, his mother had slimmed his father's draft blood and created a tall colt with stronger chest and quarters than most. Even so his wings ached to unfold, but could not do so comfortably with the trees keeping them curled against his sides.

Kaj surveyed the land from baby blue eyes, snorting softly as the scent of spring washed over him. Flaxen and gold mane spread over his shoulder as the light wind played with it. Cocoa pillars drove his tall frame forward, intelligent and calm eyes focused only on the small clearing ahead. Stepping from the tangle of trees silently, wings spreading out with a soft sigh of relief. Kaj supposed he should call for somebody, but he wasn't much of an attention seeker. Shrugging to himself he lowered himself down towards the grass, kneeling comfortably. Chocolate and cream wings extending and easing aching muscles of his shoulders. Head held high despite his position of rest, regal and patient. No noise had been made to alert his passing, the gentle sound of his breaths the only thing disrupting the flow of nature's music.

She had come from the Thistle Meadow, where the banks of the river were covered in slick mud and the river chewed up the banks with white foaming teeth and swirling gray water, carrying sticks and debris along. The white mare, her patches of gray nearly gone from her creamy coat, moved not quietly but rather loudly through the forest, even despite her best attempts to not crush that twig, or crack those crinkling ferns.

After the meeting with Phaedra, she had continued on a roundabout path to the Frostbreath Steppe, where she was collecting her courage to save Mirage. If her challenge was successful. If. The golden light twisted through the new buds on the tree branches, glistened in the thin leaves curling in the Birdsong warmth. Spring was here at last.

"Hello there. Welcome to Helovia!" Her voice chimed through the forest, the effects of moonshine fully worn off. It was a pegasus in the forest, the scent of wilderness on his coat. Tor halted, ears pricking. "I'm Tor, wanderer of this lovely land. Can I help you?"

Crashing in the forest around him alerted Kaj to a newcomer that clearly didn't mind that they were heard all around. He remained on his knees until the female broke cover, speaking cheerily. Nodding silently in thanks to her welcoming to these lands, though he already knew of its name. Slipping his legs out, he observed the dark cocoa color- a major contrast to the sweet green of the grass that tickled his legs and cooled his stomach. Rising up to stand fully, knowing it was polite to stand when someone is speaking to you. Baby blue eyes turned to the other draft descendant, curiosity in his irises but face otherwise unchanged.

The fae spoke again, nearly dizzying. Kaj hadn't ever been around much talking. In his herd the males were mostly like him, and the females were quiet and humble off the battlefield. But he supposed it was nice that she was so friendly. "Kaj. Do you know of the herds, miss Tor?" Deep voice nearly to the bass registry reaching out to her, always the gentleman. It was nice that they were on eye level, being of the same height and build. He hoped to appear friendly, but he often came off as 'strong and silent' or 'shy'. He'd been called both numerous times, and no longer cared. Those who knew him knew better and that was all that mattered.

The silent creature dipped his head in acknowledgement to the gray mare. The draft watched him, silently judging. He was cordial, if perhaps a little reserved, but then again, everyone had their secrets. "Of course. There are four herds I know of. The Dragon's Throat, a warm desert to the south, the World's Edge, a forest on top of a cliff at the edge of the ocean. There is the Windtossed Foothills', just a little to the west, under the shelter of the mountains rocky. There is also the Aurora Basin, a group of unicorns in the cold. They are one of the hostile forces in Helovia and many of them are racist towards others. I would suggest taking to the Edge- their ruler is strong and although their numbers are small, they are a good family for all." She spoke quietly, at ease, and more solemnly as her mind wandered on a loop back to the constant horses tugging at her from all sides.

"I can guide you to one of the herdlands, if you wish, Kaj, or I can give you better directions. Each has its own values and different ideas, but all except for the Aurora Basin welcome all breeds of Helovia." Which was true. Tor had to say she preferred the Foothills and Edge to the Throat however.

Tor's eyes watched him silently, and Kaj felt like he was being inspected under a microscope. It was natural to make impressions and judgements no matter how pure or kind you were. You would always think something of a new person, and until you got to know them better that impression would stay. Even so he didn't blame her, she had the right to be suspicious. She even answered his questions about the lands, showing little preference outside the intimations of her voice until the Aurora Basin was spoken of. Kaj knew better than to venture into the lands of a racist group, he had dealt with them before and knew he was unwelcome if he had wings and a bare forehead. Her quiet voice suggested to him finding the Edge and joining them. Kaj wasn't fond of hot weather, ruling out the Throat. He was much too big for that kind of heat. The Foothills sounded nice but if Tor believed the Edge would be good for him he would trust her. Quaint numbers sounded quite nice as well.

Tor was kind enough to offer directions, and even to physically travel with him to the herd he chose. "Thank you kindly, miss Tor. If you would lead me to the Edge, I would be forever in your debt. However I may not be great company. Not much of a talker I fear." Shuffling awkwardly as he gruffly tried to explain, uncomfortable even with speaking that much. Tiny sheepish smile stretching normally stoic visage. Baby blues the only thing remaining soft and eager.

Tor appreciated his cordality, even if it made him a little bit inverted. Who was she to complain? She, who had failed to save Mirage, she who deserved no kindness. She was a failure. She was useless. But maybe she had a chance... maybe. Just maybe she could redeem herself, just a little, if she did more kind things. There was never enough kindness in this cold harsh world. "That is not a problem, Kaj. Sometimes silence is more suitable then words." One may take offence at her words, but with her soulful eyes and very kind, homely feeling behind them, one could not help but want to smile with her.

"This way, sir Kaj." The draft turned, and began to walk, leisurely, relaxed, easily without a touch of stiffness in her joints. Even despite her flexibilty, she could not hide her natural clumsiness however.

[Awful post. But need to go to bed -falls over-]
