LYNX

Exile. It is a word that sends dread coursing through most horses, fill them with images of being completely alone and forsaken. Yet, Lynx finds it to be almost enjoyable, or at least familiar. There are downsides, or course, such as the curse placed on their little band by the Sun God, and he finds himself missing some of the Throat members, but overall it hasn't been too terrible, being an outcast. He is used to being alone, used to fending for himself. It is the lack of purpose that bothers him the most, the feeling of being useless. At least in the Throat, he had been able to help in small ways, patrolling the borders and bringing home new members from the Threshold. Here, there were no set borders to defend, no home to lead others to.

Still, at least this extra time gives him the opportunity to graze more often. The desert had been somewhat lacking in good grass, and that coupled with the horn that mangles his face has resulted in the buckskin’s rather gaunt frame. Warily, he lowers his head to the tall grass of the Meadow, eyes scanning for danger. The God’s curse had already made itself known once before, setting a small fire that could have easily gone out of control had it not been smothered immediately, and he has no wish to be surprised by another sign of divine temper. Yet, he slowly begins to relax as nothing happens, focusing less on his surroundings, and more on attempting to eat without causing himself too much pain. He has discovered that if he only uses the right side of his mouth, his deformity mostly behaves itself, sending only twinges through his jaw rather than agony.

A sudden feeling of unease, of not being alone, floods his senses, sending his head up abruptly, alert for any danger. The curse again? It would make sense, for the God to pick them off one by one rather than attempting to wipe them all out at the same time. Well, Lynx won’t be taken without a fight. He half rears, both in a silent challenge, and in an attempt to see over the tall grass.

The creamy filly trotted gleefully through the blooming meadows. She loved the sweet smell of lilacs and mouth water grass that rested in her nostrils. In hailing a large breath, she sighed from the calming sounds of BirdSong. The one thing that Mystique was wondering was why was everything so good now? Before, she had been a misfit without loving parents who abandoned her, but now she felt loved within her herd and kept herself close to Cera and tried to meet new members every day. She also loved Cera’s dad, Midas, and sort of wished that she could have a dad like Cera who would love and care for her. Lost in her thoughts, she did not realize that Lynx, or as Cera had called him Kitty, had been romping around the area. Mystique had such a short attention span that it was almost like talking to a goldfish, but at her age, it was normal. Her pinkish muzzle flipped through the tasteful grasses as she grazed without hesitation. Thinking about what she was going to do next, she noticed a familiar figure moving towards her direction from the corner of her bluish eye. Suddenly raised her small creamy head, her irony mane fell in front of her eye. She had not noticed who this horse was at first so she almost panicked, but quickly after examining the figure Mystique noticed that it was Kitty!

“Kitty!” Mystique shouted playfully towards him. Not hesitating for one second, she took off towards the sooty stallion with a smile glued to her face. Mystique loved Kitty and wanted to see if he wanted to play with her and what he was doing here and not in the Throat. Mystique had never seen him since the one say she had met him with Cera and Midas, so it was exciting to see him. Finally reaching him, she pressed herself against his large test nuzzling into him. His warmth brought comfort to him as Mystique buried her pink muzzle into his soft fur. She had so many questions to ask him, but she wanted to see if he remembered her before.

[OOC: Sorry for such a short post, I have so much home work to do -__-]

LYNX

The small white form that came bounding toward the sandy unicorn might have startled him, if not for the cheerful cry of 'Kitty!' The familiar name reassures him that it is Mystique who approaches, rather than some beast intent on doing him harm. Though, he thinks with a slight frown, she shouldn't be wandering around by herself. It is difficult to be cross with her, as she nuzzles against him, and rather than scold, he lowers his head to affectionately nip at her mane. After all, the meadow isn't very far from the Throat, and he shouldn't condemn her travels when he himself had frequently ventured from the desert herdland.

Unable to communicate verbally, he turns to a newly discovered skill, quietly humming to express how pleased he is to see the filly. An odd method, but he finds it to be fairly effective, and so he uses it. Anything he can do to get emotions and meaning across. If nothing else, it is easier than drawing, for the snow he had used as a canvas was all melted away now, and sketching out pictures in the soft dirt is more difficult than one would think. His mind drifts slightly as he ponders what else he could use to communicate with others. Body language, of course, drawings, humming. Cera had once suggested asking the gods for help, perhaps they could grant him with some sort of telepathy. He doesn't dare to hope for the actual ability to speak, contenting himself with thoughts of other ways. Yes, a vague telepathy would work nicely, even if it only sent impressions of feelings rather than words.
