Okay this is for Basin sneak class. You guys are going to have a mission. :3 Faelene has the rank of impersonator (soon will be appointed to thief IC) she's taking charge to gather intel, and meet her fellow "spies".

There was so much to do, and so little time. Everyone needed to more prepared, doing what they could. Faelene was in doubt they Basin would be quiet for long. She was often on guard trying to make sure no more of them would be taken, while scraping her skull for how to return those stolen. Going from point a to point b collecting information that could prove to be useful. It was time to see who fell below her in rank, and what skills they possessed, what they were willing to do. She needed more she could predict, trust to an extent, and count on to help. Everyone of the Basin should do their part. They must be craving ways to be of use, it was better energy was fueled toward goals and purpose. She was going to fulfill her duty, and uphold her loyalty. There were more changes than just the weather.

A fast walk she clipped her way along the edge of the forest, away from the lake and all the scent of everyone who might be grazing or about. Though she wouldn't mind company of the Lady Psyche, or other high ranks she wanted to do this quickly with precision and no interruptions. Curious children, she had patience for, now was not the time. Finding a spot back where the trees spaced, perfect out of direct stare of the sun, she halted with a tight stance. The grass hung tight beneath her hooves, having worked it's way. There was no feel in it, there was height in her carriage, purpose. A snap of her head silver eyes sweep the shadows, and the glint to the lake. Pulling in a long breath, she then beckoned for the phantoms to find her. It was time. No faltering frame, she waited in a poised stance knowing there should be at least two to answer her.

Still chuckling from his run in with the new member named Dakini, Crowley found himself alone and putting distance between the group and himself. Dakini would have to prove herself a worthy tool to the Plague before she gained his full trust, or any sort of sympathy. It had been a commendable act, however, that she would listen to him, a complete stranger, and attack a Pegasus on command. She certainly showed promise as a new member, and he couldn't wait to see how she would come along.

Not far into his trek, a call found his ears, echoing and bouncing off the mountain walls surrounding them. It was clearly feminine, yet held a strong, firm strength within it's tone. It called to him, almost commanding that he come at once and find the source. He already had a good guess as to the voice's owner, but he couldn't know for sure unless he sought it out for himself. Moving on from his halted stance, Crowley picked up into a lengthy trot and in little time, he had made his way to the parting of the trees.

Despite the fact that it was the middle of Birdsong, snow still draped the pines in a blanket of frozen crystal. The brindle wound through the trees with ease, keeping his pace until his golden eyes landed on the obsidian figure standing quietly in the middle of the clearing. It was Faelene, as he might have guessed, who held the rank above his own. The pair had never spoken in the past, but he could recall seeing her countless times, and remembered her actions during the attempted raid from the Edge. Slowing to a walk, and then a stop just yards away from the red maned mare, Crowley dipped his head in a nod of respect before speaking.

"Duty calls, sister?" His accented voice rolled, leaving the innocent question to hang in the air. No doubt that this was a meeting of rank, but what exactly, would the details of it be? The stallion almost danced with anticipation, but he did well to keep it hidden behind his casual facade. He would know shortly, after the other Phantoms had arrived.

The best lies about me are the ones I told

For the most part Shuler had remained reclusive and hidden in the many shadows of the Aurora Basin, observing the interactions of his herd mates from afar, and wandering outside the safety of the borders from time to time to investigate what the wilds of Helovia had to offer in the way of information. Today he was here though, and like any good soldier he came when he was summoned, appearing out of the woods like a wraith composed of glittering gold and inky black. He slowed his languid saunter to a stop, his figure still shrouded by the imposing shadows around him, honey-amber eyes peering thoughtfully to where he had spied Faelene and Crowely waiting in the clearing. His curiosity is evident in the whispering hints of inquisitiveness that alight his face as he resumes forward motion and draws closer to the pair before coming to a stop once more, dipping his head in a gesture of greeting, black, barbed horn barely brushing the ground.

"Crowely, Lady Faelene.” He murmured personably, "Fancy meeting you here.”

His voice was clear and lyrical, intonations hinting at humor, though his jest shouldn’t be mistaken for ignorance. Shuler had heard the whispers of unrest and seen the desperation starting to spread from herd to herd during his travels. And now the Basin had become a game piece in a rather brutal game of chess, though it remained to be seen who would ultimately be the winner. He assumed that was why Faelene had called them here, to begin the tricky and arduous process of forming a plan to keep the Basin and their brethren from befalling any more insults from the outside- or worse, injuries. The dun stallion shuffles his hooves against the soil, his look thoughtful, brooding, and a sense of restlessness begins to call to him, a siren’s lull. He supposed it would be useful, if he had any guess as to what the Basin’s impersonator needed them to do, it would probably require a good deal of travel. It had been too long since Shuler had properly traipsed the lands of Helovia, and he watches the two other unicorns with an impending sense of uncharacteristic, childish glee at the thought of doing it once more.

something dark to a cold heart

Thank you two. <3 Unless anyone wants to join the sneak class it will probably be us three.

The clip of hoof beats announced Crowley's soon-to-be arrival. She could tell by the pattern he was answering swiftly, and it pleased her not to wait. Usually she was patient, but today wouldn't be the day for her to stand by and continue to accomplish nothing. She was sure her fellows would feel the same. Ears bent in different directions she could at least feel relief, and relaxing from being home. It was not too hot nor cold, but just right. Though she had worn her armor for so long, getting use to the weight, feeling, and movement she had removed, and hidden it away in a safe place. She planned to put it on in practice of her magic once she finished her quest. Another goal to her endless list, and she shifts her hind pillars to see the dark striped stallion. He had nothing that spoke loudly in his body language, he seemed to be taking quiet notes. She knew he could curse things, was a bit older than herself, but that was all. Today it was part of the plans of change, and she lifted her nose in greeting, her thick locks drifting away from her eyes. It's strange to her to be offered respect, only a place higher, but what lady didn't like a nice gesture? It made a good first impression (as this was a clean slate to her), and she would make a mental note of the act. "Aye, it does." she answered, letting a hint of a grin hang on her muzzle.

The second to arrive Faelene had not met directly, but knew his name, his lean golden frame that was likely quick and deadly. His horn was as interesting as Crowley's two. She held in her faint silver eyes, and she found herself wanting a glimpse into the future of accomplishments. The hunger did not cross her face, she tipped her nose in return to his bow. Curious, and quite sure what a cunning, wicked team they would make. "Shuler, Crowley it's my pleasure, and thanks for answering so quickly. I'll cut to the chase. I bet you are just as eager as I am to do something and there is plenty to be done. I'm sure I don't need to explain our jobs, but I'll start where we are lacking."

"There have been lots of changes in Helovia. Leaders, herds, groups, and I have not been able to collect most recent information. I would like the two of you to collect information on the Foothills. Basic stuff. Leaders, strengths, weakness, any upsets. I'm starting to believe if we want to conquer our enemies it will be easier if they are not bound together. Any questions? Or useful information you may have already?"

It isn't long before they're joined by another of the sneak rank, a stallion that stood just a little shorter than himself. While the pair had never spoken alone together, he had seen the dun several times in passing, each time giving him some sort of acknowledgement. His Plague brethren would always be shown respect, so long as they returned the gesture.

He gives Shuler a nod of welcome before he returned his golden gaze back to the red maned Thief, wondering briefly if this was truly the extent of their group. While it was a bit sad, it was also quite nice, for the brindle would much prefer to operate these special missions with as few numbers as accureately possible. Directing his ears forward as Faelene began to speak, he took in every word she had to offer, absorbing it. It seemed there was no time for jokes, no time to piddle around before they were sent off to do whatever their mission would be. It took some of the fun away, but he understood that it was necessary.

When the land of the Foothills was mentioned, Crowley did his best to recall any information he might have heard on the place, but nothing came to mind. Of course, he knew of its existance, but that was it. He would be going to the land with an open mind, unknowing of any of its history; was that a good or a bad thing? At Faelene's question, the brindle looked thoughtful for a moment, before he decided to speak up. "Should we seek the information directly, or from outside sources? As much as I would despise to live amongst them, I believe it would be our best shot." With a quick look to Shuler, he waited to hear what his partner, if that is what they would become, would have to say about it all. "It would be our most entertaining option," he added with a chuckle.

Ah, the foothills. Shuler listened with growing excitement, though the dun stallion was never one to show very much emotion no matter what the circumstances. He remained composed and cordial amongst his peers, but even the young phantom could not deny the eagerness at the prospects of being sent on an errand. He recalls his small chat with the Pegasus he had met in the Heavenly fields, and if anything Jericho had shown him that most of the Foothills people would be accepting to those who were deemed worthy and of good character, it was a façade he had learned to play and use all too well. Crowley’s suggestion was surprising, but the golden stallion would be amiss to disagree- while it wouldn’t exactly be the most enjoyable experience living in hiding amongst the peace lovers, it would be the way to get the most knowledge.

And as he always preached, knowledge was the ultimate power.

"As my brother has stated,” Shuler rumbled agreeably, intonations smooth and pleasing to the ear, "An infiltration would be best.”

Shuler glanced to the dark stallion with a knowing smile. It had been too long since he had put his skills of deceit and dishonesty to good use, and what better way to do that than for the Plague? Shuler’s dark tail swiped in nervous excitement over his hocks, amber eyes peering from beneath his equally obsidian forelock in anticipation as he looked to Faelene. While he was not one to take orders from anyone, he respected the mare and would seek her blessing before he and Crowley took off into the wilderness in search of information.

[OOC: Sorry, this sucked, but I'll get a post up in the foothills shortly.]

something dark to a cold heart

Never encountering anyone of the Foothills except in the invasion she did not know what was happening in their borders now. Were they still aligned with the Qian? None had come for their captured Chieftess, or for the Edge prisoners so she was hoping this was a sign they might be standing on their own now. Someone else was in charge. This was what she wanted them to accomplish. While she could do it herself she was rather interested in how they would succeed.

The one wrapped in stripes and scars was thoughtful when it came to give her reply. He must not have met any of the hills either, asking questions instead of giving answers. Drawing in a quick breath, she didn't see it as too problematic. It would depend on the stories, the act they put on. It was a good test of their skills. Upon his mention of an idea to live among them her attention drifted to the golden stallion seeing if he felt the same. She didn't care how it was done as long as the idea would work, and they were on the same page.

"If you think you can convince them it might be the quickest, and best way. You have a plan in mind? A horn on your head seems to instantly brands you, and the two of you don't exactly have feminine charm on your side," she remarked with a grin playing at her lips. Ladies might find them appealing, she wasn't sure if that would help in this case. Faelene was wondering of their hidden talents, tricks up the sleeve, and the specifics of their plan. Details could be important to passing this charade, and she would offer her help where necessary.
