Water lapped around Note's silver hooves, as if trying to pull him into the water, sucking him into a world of gills and flippers. But that wasn't a world appropriate for a pegasus. Pegasi were creatures of the sky, were they not? They lived their lives in the clouds, their wings a gift no one else had, but racism and jealousness arose from their prize. Why wouldn't you envy a creature that was able to fly?

At this thought, the dusty bay stallion ruffled his feathers, spreading them out to take a better look at them. They were long, slender, and made for flight, for speed. He felt ashamed of himself as he tucked them back into his sides so they once again covered his scar. All he ever used them for was a shield, to cover his scar from the world. He was still tentative about his scar, worried of anyone spotting it. Then he'd have to go through his whole life story with them. He had, in fact, entrusted his secret with his beloved Sohalia, but she was different.

The thought of Sohalia and how much she liked to fly still loomed around Note's mind. He glanced up at the sky, the wind blowing through his mane, tossing the dark gray strand back and forth between themselves. The Endless Blue was a wonderful place for flight...

Note turned, his mind set on one thing, and one thing only: flight. He was going to fly, if only for a short time. He was, after all, built for it. The stallion planted his hooves firmly on the beach, perpendicular to the lapping shoreline of the ocean.

A light breeze pushed into Note's behind, almost encouraging him to take off. He rose his gait into a walk, then a trot, and finally a canter. His silver hooves sparkled in the sun as they hit the sand, throwing up the beads around him. He spread his wings, his gruesome scar showing. It stretched from his shoulder to his hip, directly crossing over the muscles connecting to his wings. Even spreading his wings out caused a tug and pull of his scar that pained Note, although he didn't show his pain.

Wind rustled through his feathers as the pegasus caught a breeze that lifted him into the air. He beat his wings against the current, making an ascent into the atmosphere. Note had a variety of different takeoffs he could've used, but this one was easiest, and less painful on his aching scar. As he flew more, his scar was sure to pain him less, but for now, it strained his muscles to an extent he couldn't bear.

When Note's scar had just finished healing, back when he was around two and a half years old, he had tried flight. But the pain of even lifting his wing was excruciating. So from then on his wings were nothing but a cover for his scar.

Note gracefully soared through the sky. He had gotten better at flying, he had done it often in his younger days. Flying in the day didn't seem to be a problem, after all, he was used to flying at night. He had been an assassin for most of his life, killing at night for more cover. It wasn't life he had chosen, but a certain need to fight governed the pounding in his blood. Maybe it was a trait gained from his father? After all, they had never met...

Levi

The hot sun beat down on Levi's grullo colored coat. Shimmering trickles of sweat dripped from his neck and legs as the brute raced towards the beach. It was usual for him to bump into Phaedra, so he wanted to so badly to see if she was here. Most likely it was fate that he was going to see her, or if he was not going to see her, but he wanted so badly to see her beautiful face that made his heart melt inside. His hooves dug into the soft sand as the silk water pressing over through his stride. Splattered waters fell over his chest and legs as he challenged himself to stop running. He needed a break because it was so hot and he was losing his breath too quickly for himself. He was not yet acquired to the temperature change even though he lived with in the sands.

His breath flew out of his throat as the brute stopped to press himself into the water. The icy liquid felt much warmer than it had when he was here in FrostFall. It felt as almost as though it was a year since he had been here with Phaedra, even though it had been months. He wanted so badly for her to just show up right now so he could tell her how much she meant to him. His silver gaze reflected the water ripples in the water cooling him down immediately. Levi went into the water until his neck was almost covered. Swimming slowly the brute, relaxed flopping his wings out on the top line of the water. The ripples massaged his wings as he gazed up at the beautiful sky. It was such a beautiful day and the brute wanted to do something exciting something that would make him happy, but so far Phaedra or anything interesting was a no show.

Twirling his wings tips, the brute suddenly saw a figure in the sky. The musty smell of the Throat lingered from the horse’s pelt. He peered into the sky, but was blinded by the heated sun. The dark bay color looked very familiar, but who was it. Closing his eyes the brute looked away for a slight seconf because he was getting blinded, but quickly looked back. Noticing that the figure was Note, Levi jumped up trying to swim to shore. “Note!” Levi cried from the waters below. He had not seen Note in a while, but it was a relief to see him now. It would be great it they could talk, he needed to talk man to man for once.

It was nice to finally fly again, and at the Endless Blue of all places! Note deeply inhaled the smell of the salt and sand as he did a small somersault in the air. The smell of the ocean was one that he could easily get lost in. It almost reminded him of his precious Sohalia. He was anxious to see her again, especially since she carried their unborn child.

“Note!” Someone was calling for him? A male...the only horse who ever called for him was Sohalia. 'Strange,' Note mused as he looked below him to see a familiar dark, almost ebony figure dashing through the ocean, scrambling to the shore. He laughed at the sight before swooping down next to his friend, Levi. He was careful to land with his left side facing Levi, so he wouldn't catch a glimpse at the gruesome scar that marked him.

"Levi, you're wet," Note laughed upon observing his friend. Levi had helped set him up with Sohalia, and for that, Note was eternally grateful to him. His eyes were warm, unlike their usual sharp gaze. Even Note didn't understand why he was being so particularly kind today. Maybe the change of scenery was having a positive affect on him?

Levi

Levi’s call suddenly turned Note’s direction around as he came towards the grullo gleefully. Pressing himself towards the shore, the brute stayed in the water up to his knees, letting the waves ripple underneath his stomach. It would be more polite if he were standing to talk to Note, instead of lying there, lazily resting on his back. Note seemed to be in a very good mood, Levi figured it was because of Sohalia. "Levi, you're wet.” Note’s silvery laugh brought lightness in the mood around them. It was almost as though Note was a different horse. It’s not that he was mean before it was as though he was even happier and kind. Pursing his lips towards each other, the brute made a face towards Note to make it even make more of their time. Taking a short time, the brute chuckled as he talked to Note with a happy strain. “Yes I am, but I can’t help it. The water is just so tempting!” Walking up to Note, the brute nestled his head towards Note’s shoulder playfully nudging him like he was a brother. “So brother, what have you been up to lately? Hitting it off with your love Sohalia?”

Levi was very excited that Note and Sohalia had met. If he had not thought about Note, who knows what could have happened. Maybe Phae would not have gotten Stella, or Sohalia would have never met her knight in shining armor like Note. “Note, do you want to come for a swim?” He asked with glee. He really wanted to know what was going on in the stallion’s life and Levi had so much to tell him anyways. He figured he should also warn him about Tio and how he had gotten a rank up in the Throat.

[OOC: Don't worry about it! It couldn't be worse than this lol]

The water was tempting. Of course. Note laughed along with his friend, shaking his head and rolling his sharp green eyes as Levi affectionately nudged his shoulder. Anyone could've thought the pair really were brothers, judging by their playful ways.

“So brother, what have you been up to lately? Hitting it off with your love Sohalia?” Sohalia. Note blushed furiously at the sound of her name. He debated telling Levi of their recent antics, but only for a second. He could certainly trust him, after all, Levi had been one of the two horses who helped set them up together.

"We're great, she's pregnant, actually," Note smiled, suddenly finding some kind of interest in his silver hooves as they glared against the sand in the sunlight. He often wondered why they were silver, and not gray or tan like everyone else's. He dismissed the thought, his hooves were him and he was loved by many, that was all that mattered.

Note then looked back up to the grullo, a mischievous grin crossing his maw. "Race you to the water?" He didn't even wait for Levi to respond before Note bounded to the water, his strong legs propelling him to the ocean. The current of the waves weren't much of a problem for the bay to bound through. Although Note was a pegasus, much more of his life had been spent running through fields and mountains than flying through the air.

Levi

Levi was so glad that Note was a part of his herd. Ever since they met, Levi liked him and felt as though he was trustworthy. When he Phaedra, and Sohalia were thinking of possibly suitors, Levi immediately thought of Note and he did not even know him. It is true that horses have good judgment of character and Levi, Phaedra, and Sohalia chose well because now they were together and happy. He could see the gleefulness in his eye as he mentioned her name. As he was about to say something, Levi saw a certain look as he was about to speak. It was not the kind of look the he was so in love, it was the look of absolute joy. Levi had never seen such a look before and immediately wanted to know. "We're great, she's pregnant, actually," Levi’s maw fell open as a giant smirk rose into his maw. He could believe how quickly the two fell in love. What a happy ending! Levi thought with excitement. “Wow Note! This is amazing. I-I don’t even know what to say, I am just so happy for you both.” It was a different kind of joy the Levi has never experienced himself. He could not wait to tell Phaedra, unless Sohalia had already. Levi walked up to Note and put his vulture wing on his shoulder “You are a real suitor, Note, congratulations.”

"Race you to the water?" Without any hesitation Note took off into the depths of the water. Levi jolted forwards as he struggled to catch up to Note. Levi was a good swimmer, but when it came to racing it was harder because of his massive wings. His legs pressed into the sands until he could no longer feel them. Working his legs striding as hard as he could, the brute’s head was now closer to Note’s thy as he pushed himself to come closer. He was still not going to pull ahead just yet and wait to see what would happen.

Levi's splashing was getting alarmingly closer to the dusty bay. Note snorted playfully, tossing his dark gray mane in an attempt to tame the wild tendrils that fell across his thick nape. He could taste the salt water in his mouth; it was revolting, mixed with the sickening heat of tallsun. To think he had thought of the smell in the air as refreshing only moments ago.

Note reared in the shallows of the water they had reached, not slowing his pace at all. His muscles bunched and full of raw power, the stallion leapt clear out of the water, twisting to the left and away from Levi as he spread his wings only slightly, gaining air and sailing through the air in a matter of seconds. His scar was not visible to Levi, or so he hoped. The amount of time he had spent in the air was enough to propel him a horse length in front of his friend.

There were a number of things Note was expecting from his trick. Surprise from Levi, that was one, maybe some shells would clip his hoof, maybe he would've scared some fish. What he wasn't expecting was the drop off that lay beneath the area he was going to land in the water.

He could see nothing but water. Salt stung his eyes and threatened to enter his lungs as Note made no effort to return to the surface. The ocean was a different world, blue and endless. It was beautiful, but scary at the same time. With endless space came endless possibilities, not all of them ending happily.

Note quickly realized he was sinking, slipping away from his life, his Sohalia and their child. He couldn't - wouldn't leave them. He spread his hawk-like wings, flapping them as if he was flying in the air and not water. Bubbles swarmed from his vigorous flapping as Note rose to the surface of the blue. Part of him wanted to stay under the crashing waves where everything was so much simpler, but he couldn't leave his family or friends.

Legs and wings thrashing, Note's head flew from underneath the water, settling his wings down and using them like flippers under the water. He kicked his legs every now and then, but mostly didn't need to, thanks to his wings. He turned his sharp green eyes to Levi, smirking like nothing had happened. Like he hadn't seen the simplistic beauty of an entirely different world right beneath their hooves.
