Cloven hooves drew the yearling away from the Basin at a steady trot, her arabian blood showing through on endurance and stamina as she did not lessen her gait until she reached her destination. Her tail flicked behind her, face rising towards the sky to accept the warmth of the Heavenly Fields. Her white lids closed over her blue eyes and she stopped, basking in the Birdsong sun. As much as Aviya had grown accustomed to the coldness of the north, from having lived there her entire life, she very much enjoyed the warmth of the lower parts of Helovia. Her body was completely still as she drank in the rays, breathing slowly.

The dark princess stood for several minutes devouring the rays before she slid back into fluid motion. The mare lowered her head and sniffed the ground, eyes scanning for the most succulent of grasses. Upon finding, to what she thought, was the best patch of clover, she stopped and grazed calmly. Her tail continued to flick behind her, the long tendrils snapping flies off of her dark hide with ease and little thought. Her muscles twitched nonchalantly to defend the areas of her body her tail could not reach, but despite the movements she was completely calm. Her teeth raked across the ground, pulling and crunching on the sweet treat. As she ate, her thoughts wandered.

Her thoughts drifted from her family, to Psyche, to Mauja, to Varath, to Vadim, to Tamlin, back to her family and finally the thought of her winged brother filled her mind. She had not seen Mesec in ages, and wondered if he had gone back to live under the careful watch of his bitch of a mother. Aviya grew a distaste towards the mysterious Goddess from her father's stories. The Goddess let their family and herd land fall, and she also(in Aviya's eyes alone) forced her father to produce a winged and horned foal. The dark princess wanted to rip the wings off of her brother's shoulders, wanted to make him purely like the rest of their family. Musing over the thought, Aviya lifted her head to scan her surroundings, chewing a mouthful of clover and grass.

CHILD OF THE NIGHT</style>
Blessed with wind and darkness</style>

Within eight months of life, the Aurora Basin had grown dull. While undeniably beautiful, especially whenever night would fall over it to put on a brilliant show of lights, one could only have so much fun before it grew utterly boring.

Moving at a brisk trot, Mesec had left the snowy land of the unicorns behind him, intent on exploring more of Helovia on this day. The idea of doing such a thing hadn't crossed his mind until earlier in the day, when he had spotted his sister leaving the Basin. The dark prince had only made his move once she was well out of sight, curiosly following after her at a great distance. It was not only curiosity that drove him to follow the yearling, but also an undying need to make sure she remained safe. While their bond was not great, they were still family, brother and sister.

The black splotch that was Aviya eventually led him out of the snow covered Basin and to a steep, rocky incline. She seemed to have made it up with ease, and while he could make it up to the top with nothing more than a few strokes of his wings, he would not do such. Back home, such appendages were viewed with utter disgust, so the youngling rarely found himself putting them to use. Or, even more simply, he could teleport to the top. Sucking in a deep breath, the colt took off up the hill, black hooves digging into the earth for traction. With little effort he had made it to the top of the hill, where he was met by the warmth of the great sun's rays. His pupiless eyes squinted against it's brightness, before he cast his eyes leven with the land to find the familiar, ebony form of his sister.

"Aviya," he spoke up, moving into a walk as he closed the distance that was between them. Mesec came to a halt only when he was beside his grazing sister, flashing only the quickest of smiles to the filly, a rare display of affection. "What are you doing all the way out here? What is this place?"

"blah blah blah."

eat your heart out, aphrodite,

For a moment, there is only a mere spark, carried by a gentle southron wind, but in less than a heartbeat, it grows, consuming the surrounding atmosphere until there is nothing more than fire. It grows, this uncanny fire, spiraling to monstrous proportions, seemingly consuming the sky in its sweltering body, its thunderous noise and tremendous heat seeping into the area surrounding it like some virulent thing. After a few moments of glory, however, they begin to wane, shrinking back to reveal a lithe figure, clad in pallor, reveling in these blazing arms as a child would in a father's embrace.

But the only father she's ever known wore a cloak of flames, and the only embrace she knew was an burning one.

When the fire dissipates completely, the girl seems almost lost, naked, as if some vital part of her had just disappeared. She lets her eyes harrow through this new environment, absorbing the clear day and the lush spring grass. Her appearance had been met with a sort of stunned silence - the birds had stopped singing, the insects stopped chirping, escaping the wrath of this impulsive fire. They reluctantly resume their merry chorus, regarding the sudden appearance of the alabaster filly with nothing more than fleeting glance. With the impartial flick of a gold-tipped tail, the demigoddess begins her jaunt across this blessed land, feeling particularly divine today. To those first observing the daughter of fire, she may seem overwhelming; she is as pale as the first light of dawn, with vermilion eyes that seem to shimmer and shine, as if dusted with gold. Every angle, every inch of her seems to radiate all the affluence and ascendancy of the sun itself.

Today, the sun shines brightly, sending fingers of fire through the intricate markings scrawled on her back and wings and fueling her veins with joy. Cloven hooves advance through the moist ground - she extends the already great breadth of her wings to their full span, letting a balmy zephyr pass beneath them. Pale feathers flutter, dancing over the breeze like the most veteran of fliers. She continues through the prairie for a time, hip-height tendrils of grass tickling the bottom of her belly as she passes. It is not long until she hears the familiar babble of voices, but the smell is cool and foreign - like snow and ice and other unfortunate things. They are both black, with horns, and one bears the promise of wings. Her heart quickens pathetically - she only knows people with wings or a horn or nothing at all, excluding her father, and meeting another with both would be exciting indeed!

So, Israfel picks her way toward them easily, pale ears forward and attentive. "Hey!" she calls, vermilion eyes wavering between the wingless filly and the winged colt. The girl has blue eyes, as she seems older than the boy - who cannot be younger than herself. When she notices his eyes, she feels the cold fingers of fright crawl up her throat. Is he dead? Her movements hesitate; she watches him with a mixture of horror and curiosity. His eyes are pupiless and pale, although they seem to function as all eyes should; she discounts it for a meaningless abnormality, although cannot shake off the vague revulsion. Hooves seize to a halt before them, pink lips skimming back to a smile.

Aviya grew quickly tired of her brother's protective demeanor. Swallowing hard, the filly took a step towards her brother and opened her jaws. Reaching out she grasped one of the soft feathers, the small ones closest to his shoulders, and quickly ripped it out. "You're molting, brother." The filly lied, spitting the feather out of her mouth. With cold blue eyes she examined him, stepping closer to him. "You should have father check that out." Her words were almost dismissive. To say Aviya was an odd creature was an understatement. She loved her siblings, in a demented kind of way; she felt superior to them and yet she would fight to the death to protect them. They here her's. Exhaling gently, Aviya turned around to stand juxtaposed to her brother, curling her neck to touch her pink nose to his neck. "This are the Heavenly Fields, dear Mesec, a wonderful place." Aviya lifted her head once more and looked up at the sky, veiling her crystalline eyes. "We're close to her here, you know." Aviya was, of course, referencing the mutt's mother. The Moon Goddes. The bitch gave him wings.

It was the brightness of the flames that pulled Aviya from her odd trance, pulling her attention away from the sun's rays. Blinking she narrowed her eyes, turning her gaze away slightly to protect from the light of the flames. From them stepped a white filly, not any older than her or Mesec. To the dark princess' dismay, the creature held wings as well. Groaning, to herself more than anything, Aviya took a step forward towards the gold painted female as she called out. "What do you want?" Aviya's cool voice is low and murky, filled with poison. As the filly stops near them Aviya lowers her horn by tucking her chin, pointing it delicately at the new girl's face. She takes another step forward then, bu more towards the side, as if to block her younger brother. At her feet, small wisps of fog emerged from nowhere, waiting for any sign of danger.

Aviya's magic was growing in strength each day, with d'Artagnan making her practice. She had discovered it only seasons ago, before they took refuge in the Basin, with the mare named Faelene. Aviya's growing tail flicked gently, recalling the female. Aviya had commanded a gull to retreive and amulet for Faelene with her entrapping fog, and she had sadistically continued to use it on small animals ever since. Once, she had even made two squirrels fight to the death. That had been taxing, but now she was older and stronger, and her magic took less out of her with each use.
