Everyone always says the sky is like the sea. They say that birds are like fish, that soaring is like swimming, that clouds are like the tides.

They're both blue, Ampere would give 'them' that much.
Otherwise they felt nothing alike.

Her body fell like a stone through the atmosphere, plummeting faster and faster as her wings, tucked close at her side, did little to slow her descent. She raced down the highway of azure only to crash into the field of sapphire; water embraced her eagerly, snatching her from the air with a nearly cruel ferocity, such was the passion to have her. The water shattered around her like something fragile, yet int he very some moment, soft and gentle as it pushed into her, flooding her nose and rapping against her eyes. The pain of her fall, though mild, shook the breathe from her lungs. It rose like a jellyfish around her head, fighting to the surface. She decided to follow suit. Her legs kicked against the seas and her wings, such a useful tool normally, fluttered heavy and useless in the swath of ocean.

Her dark head broke the surface with gusto, swinging back and forth, wet mane slapping against her neck - it was all very reminiscent of Baywatch. Her nose shuddered as lungs grasped hungrily at the warm air, relishing in the sunshine coating her backside now that she was immersed in the cool coast. Ampere was content to drift there for some time, wings buoying her up and eventually carrying her to shore with the tide.

Regretfully she struck hooves into sand and hauled herself back on land, pangs in her stomach reminding her of her hunger, while similar feelings in her heart reminded her of her loneliness. She'd always prided herself in being a strong and independent individual, but it seems these past seasons spent in the close company of Taz and Zar had softened her more than she knew. It had been enjoyable when they were there for her to lean on, knowingly or not, but now in their absence she cursed the unbalanced feeling she felt.

Giving herself a hefty shake, water droplets sailing in a radius all around her, she muttered to herself about purpose and family.

Tio was trotting along the shore, his unsuccessful meeting with the Grey leaders a heavy weight on his mind. He needed more time. The stallion had been forced to think critically about his plan. In theory it had been perfect. The Grey's assistance would have been a shortcut to his gathering an army, but he would remain resolute in his plan. The only loose end he could see was prancing about, flirting with every stallion she saw and probably gabbing about his plans to everyone she came across of power, warning them all of his intentions. Phaedra would need to be reined in before long. Silenced permanently if she would not agree to keeping his secrets close to heart.

He was berating himself for thinking the mare was trustworthy, and berating himself still further for getting distracted by her flirtatious attention. He would make certain that the next time they met, he would be better. His experiences with her taken to heart and he could now harden himself to her teases. The white-slashed stallion was broken out of his deep thought by a loud splash. He jerked up, stopping dead and looking out to the ocean to see a large set of ripples intercepting the natural waves, quickly followed by an eruption of bubbles. Dusty ears pricked forwards as the head of an equine broke the surface and he watched as a black Pegasus with blue accents in her feathers stepped out of the water.

He began to step forwards only to get sprayed as she shook herself dry. "Hey, whoa there. Watch it!" He hissed as drops of water splattered his scarred muzzle, neck, chest, and forelegs. He frowned lightly as he looked down at the darker splotches on his coat which were cold and damp against his otherwise sun-warmed hide. They caused him to shiver a bit as he looked up at her. "You alright? I saw you falling. That was quite a splash!" he commented, his expression creased with slight worry. She didn't seem to be injured, but what did he know? He didn't have wings and was ignorant on their anatomy. He was further ignorant as to what pains she may or may not be feeling... because, well, he wasn't her.

He took the moment to get a closer inspection of her. She was pretty, he wasn't going to deny that. Grulla, by the look of it, with blue tinting her legs, face, and underbelly. Her wings were black with light blue freckled into them and she had more feathers appearing in a crest on her rump, and on her neck, near her poll. He wondered what kind of mare she was and if she would be interested in joining his army. She appeared young, and from experience, the young were always easy to manipulate, almost without variation. Although her youth was a misconception on his part. It was hard to think of the smaller horses as anything but young when you towered over them, almost. She seemed to be no different. Although Tio knew better that to assume so. She may surprise him if he did.

That's right Tio. When you assume anything, you make an ass out of u and me. xD

A complaining voice broke into Ampere's ears, which flicked back to help crowd out the obstinate tones while she continued to dry herself. When the rolling of her body ceased, splayed hooves leaving divots in the sand, she glanced up towards the source of the speech. Blue met green as eyes locked, but where concern ebbed in the depths of his irises, mischief churned in hers.

"Well don't stand where a dog shakes," she retorted hotly, stating what she felt, was the obvious. The heat soon left her voice however, the anger not truthful, especially not with that refreshing dip still leaving her feeling revitalized in this tallsun heat. She let a grin splatter on her face as she squared up and regarded him more fully. He was certainly handsome, as all the stallions she'd met this far had been. This place may be stuck up as Djinn said, but it was not lacking in other desirable traits. His voice proved a distraction however and she was forced to rip her electric gaze off his striped pelt to focus on the blathering coming from his maw. His worry stretched her grin to a smirk, amusement at his simple mind soon warping to arrogance. It seemed to exude from the corners of her maw, much like spittle does with the elderly.

"How do I look to you?" she asked cooly, eyelashes fluttering as she tilted her frame towards him suggestively. "Whole as whole can be," she answered the question after a moment of viewing was given. "You should try hurtling yourself into things more often, it's enjoyable." She laughed flippantly and began to stride forward, seemingly intending to walk down the beach. He was welcome to join of course, but she had no intention to just stand around. The sun was already drying her quickly and soon the salt would make her itch.

"Well don't stand where a dog shakes,"

Her words brought a snort of laughter from the studs scarred nostrils. The dusty dunskin looked her up and down with a raised eye ridge at her change of expression from anger to mischief. Her words amused him, not in the sense of being mean, but when he laughed, he was having a personal issue with her choice of wording. The stud shook out his white-streaked mane and let it flop onto the other side of his neck, exposing the white streak down his neck that bled into his mane and caused the strand of white to exist in a sea of dark earthy brown.

"Well, not to be argumentative, but I don't think you should refer to yourself as a dog. You're much too pretty for such an analogy." He said with a wink as she leaned towards him in a flirtatious manner. His tone was eerie as usual, deceptively light-hearted, yet charming at the same time. He let out another snort of laughter at her next comment. "Ma'am, I crash into things all the time, but uh... usually, the things I crash into are mares, and they have a tendency to walk away from the experience pregnant." He winked at her and began to walk alongside her as she began to move away from him. His height casting a slight shadow across her back as the sun was sinking on the ocean horizon and sending his shadow to stretch out over her and on the beach.

"So anyways, what IS a pretty thing like you doing out here all by yourself, if I may ask?" He asked, his tone curious. Tio walked alongside her, his mind going back to the day in birdsong when he had woken up on the beach to have a seagull pecking at his back. The stallion, dazed and disoriented, had come to after washing ashore during that horrible storm and had travelled inland to explore, find a stream and roll in it until he didn't feel sticky with salt water anymore.

He felt like he could pinpoint the exact place where he'd woken up. It'd been along the beach, where a large piece of drift wood stuck out from the sand among rocks and cliffs, shaped into caves by the pounding of the sea. However, the stretch of beach they were on was flat and sandy with a wall of forest on one side and the sea on the other. In any case, after he'd dried himself off, he'd wandered to the threshold and continued from there. He eventually brought himself back to the present as he looked over at her. The fact was, he needed soldiers. As he looked her up and down, he didn't really think she was battle-hardened, but he'd been proven wrong before, and he wasn't one to judge. In anycase, he'd bring the conversation around to recruitment sooner or later. He didn't see a reason to rush it.

"That's a shame, I'm rather fond of dogs." She gave an airy laugh then, her eyes doing their seductive duty - lashes fluttering like bird wings. His own gaze was not unkind to her body, and she smiled toothily beneath her lips. She wondered if he had anything valuable she could take while he lay drunk on their romance in the heat of the night.

His next comment soon dissolved that curiosity and any other visions of them lying together.
A snort blasted from her nose and her head withdrew suddenly to her chest, as though she'd brushed a nettle. "You're not very good with pick up lines are you?" she asked, all the honey gone from her voice to be replaced with her usual electric edge. Her gaze sharpened, losing the haze of lust that had softened it earlier. He had only ever been a possibility - a choice encounter for a lonely girl on this fine Tallsun afternoon. With waves singing in your ears and salty wind rushing through your hair, it's hard not to be excited by even a shadow.

The warmth had fled her blood now though, and were it possible she likely would have paled at the one, atrocious word: pregnant. Oh just thinking it made her skin crawl with unease.
By then she had begun to walk and now Ampere made no show of slowly sauntering, waiting for him to catch up. She would have left it at that and taken to the skies were her wings not burdened with the sea. Perhaps if she walked fast enough, he'd just fade away into whatever hole he'd crawled out of.

"Not very good at compliments either I see," she called over to him as his next words flapped from his lips. "Just in general, talking isn't something you're good at, is it?" she laughed then, dancing in the sand, head thrown to the wind as she turned around to face him. Maybe she didn't need to escape him if she could just drive him off...
