The bloody stallion bordered the edge of the Foothills before spying the twins. He was suddenly very concerned about their size and obvious prowess in battle, and though large and fit himself, Rafe knew that a battle with two was not one that he would win. The black and white tail swung at his hocks as his mind worked in tight, analytical circles. For a large brute, Rafe was keenly intelligent, having won more battles through a clever use of an attack rather than running headlong like a bull in a field of butterflies. A quick glance a the thin herd of the Foothills told him that he was more likely to win with others at his back, and that would best be done in the shadows of the Forest.

"Hey, you!" Rafe called, jerking his four horned head in their direction. The sun was beginning to set across the horizon, casting a bright, orange glow that nearly matched the eyes of the twins. Long shadows moved behind the trees, and the stallion waited, half hidden in one to see if he managed to get their attention. "Twins, right?" he asked, trying his best to put on his "young" face, one of excitement and youthful interest.

Though nothing could keep the apathetic, cold look from the blue irises that had seen far too much. "A few of my friends are having a meeting, and being that you are our neighbors, I wanted to ask if you cared to join," he invited casually. "We could use the unique viewpoint you two as warriors could provide us, as we are struggling against the Basin." Rafe had not one clue of anyone in the Basin anymore, but he figured that the two herds were more than enemies, so why not?

The brothers were patrolling, the dull, meaningless task of scouting the borders for anything suspicious, anything that could mean harm to the lands they serve. The Foothills had grown quiet, complacent, and they were growing bored of this mundane task. They needed something, anything to do, to keep them interested. Mirage still longed for them to stay here, but for what? They were restless, and annoyed at the way the herd was being infiltrated - how many had been taken from their borders now? Stolen, captured, whisked away in dark of the night. What could they do?

The herd was dying, and while there were a stubborn few who remained, refusing to admit it, they had long since admitted it. They longed to join their family in the Edge, their sisters, to serve the Qian more directly. Their loyalties to the Foothills was driven by duty, by a respect for their sister, who had taken on a matriarchal role in their lives. Mirage had told them that Gossamer had returned to the lands of Helovia, and was now residing in the Edge.. She had been one of only few they had held respect for - though they did admire their numerous Chief's battle prowess, the more, political side of things had let the herd down.

With suspicion written in their eyes they beheld this stallion who approached them now, though their faces remained impassive, they followed him with only small nods given in response. There wasn't much a single stallion could do to them, not when they were together, surely? The Deep Forest was a land they knew well enough, one that they had patrolled along with the Foothills ever since the Qian had begun. They knew it well, and knew well enough too that numerous scents seemed to have crossed their path in the past, but with it being a land in the Wilds of Helovia, they stupidly, disregarded that information as unimportant.

They came to a stop in a small field, the brothers stood alert, their postures stoic, still and yet poised to move, their eyes reflecting this steed before them with a sharp critical stare.

"What the fuck is it you want?" Madyrn's deep, gravelly voice boomed from his maw, crimson forelegs shuffling as the more restless of the duo itched to know what was in store for them - almost in an excited kind of way.

Something was not right here.

[Not sure if you want to have an actual NPC show up and surround them, or if you just want to say from Rafe's account, either way is fine by me. ]

Though their appearance in Helovia was brief, Rafe's family had stopped by to give a welcome to the slender buck. The troupe of foul assassins and mercenaries held many scars from their battles, and gray grizzled their hair and beards. Many of them were missing points of horns, eyes and chunks of flesh, a telltale sign of their violent and brutal ways. All of them were bachelors, the band having formed to wreak havoc and generally cause mayhem. Rafe, on the other hand, was more reserved and cold than this group of boisterous land pirates. The red bay held a clean look in comparison, stunning, blue eyes hard stones in a well shaped skull. Even as the ragtag group emerged from the deep forest looking disorganized and wild, Rafe held his calm demeanor and sophistication.

As one of the two twins (hell if he could tell them apart) asked what the fuck he wanted, Rafe merely smiled a sarcastic and assuming smile. "Well, boys... I am removing you from an equation," he replied with a subtle dip of his chin. The red bay watched as his small band of family who had raised him from an orphan began to try and close in on the two, massive twins. Five of his family members had shown up on their travels, and Rafe could not have been more grateful for their time. "You see... the band I have chosen to association myself with is going to invade the pathetic excuse for a herd that you call the Foothills. So, if you would follow me, please, I would greatly appreciate your cooperation."

Six against two were not very good odds, but Rafe knew that his family would not stay for very long.

That knawing, unsettling, hair-raising sensation of eyes watching your every move settled upon the brothers, and even as they thought they heard shuffling in the shadows, they knew am ambush was about. Guarding their expressions as the crowd came near to them, the muscles along their backs stiffened, as with squinted eyes, they observed the gathering that surrounded them. Their own flanks rubbed together, they would not allow themselves to be separated, instead preferring to feel the heated side of the others twin. They were not scared - they could tell that harm would only come their way if they chose to fight. Madyrn trembled with the effort of restraining the fury building up within him. Maskan felt the same, but his cool demeanour refused to budge, even as he gave his brother a firm nip on the nape to remind him to show control. While his temper simmered down, a crazed look had entered Madyrn's eye, but his mind screamed at him to remain calm, to control himself, to wait for the opportune moment.

With a sullen glance thrown at the bloody bay who brought them here, the brothers followed wherever he led them like meek dogs. It was fortunate that they had spent so much time in the woods of the Deep Forest during the time when the Qian did not yet possess the Edge. Anywhere Rafe led them to, they would know it - and this greatly increased their chances of escaping this fiend's captivity.
