 The Cursed</style>

Drop past the color; come up through the summer rain.</style>

Even though she had been horribly cursed by the lavender goddess, who she had referred to so many times in her mind as that bitch, she did hold her in quite high regard. She was everything Phae esteemed to be: Beautiful beyond measure, quick-witted, powerful....What would she think of the 'winged nuisance', now that she had returned? Phae had bore her curse, and even used it to her advantage a time or two...it had let her successful steal the Lignea Willow, to aid the Grey in their invasion of the Foothills, as well as to stalk unnoticed, unrecognizable without her prevailing beauty. For all of the benefits her aged and emaciated body had provided, it had robbed her of a number of things as well....Tolio, her beloved, had seen her like this; Apollo too. She had given birth in this frail and woeful body, and had to bear her daughter's seeing her like this. She had to stay hidden in the Woods during the invasion, allowing a member of the Throat to fight on her behalf. It was maddening, and the golden-girl was glad that it would be coming to an end.

Entering the veins meekly, having felt naked and without confidence since the Goddess stripped her of her beauty all those weeks ago, Phae could feel the tangible anticipation welling in her very bones. She would not cry out demanding her magic, however. Although she was sure the goddess would be able to sense her overflowing excitement, she would do everything in her power to be modest in the Goddess' presence. She was mortal after all, but she didn't need to act like a fool.

"Goddess of the Moon, Lady of the night."

Her words were solemn and soft, as she lowered her eyes in the dusk of twilight. She had been asked more than once if seeking this magic had been worth it, and now, as she stood preparing to interact with the Goddess once more, she prayed with every fiber of her being, that it would be. Who else, if not the Goddess of the Moon, would understand such desires as those that Phae felt? To manipulate stallions and mares alike, playing off her natural beauty with an enhancement from the Goddess who was the very embodiment of beauty, herself?

The GOD of the MOON

"Your beauty will leave you before those who loved you for it do the same"

How strange it was the way that this mare had handled her quest. She had not hidden, not chosen to wallow, simply lived on. In the time of her curse she had become a mother- courted lovers and continued on in her duty for her band. Now she returned, the look in her old eyes betraying everything. The Goddess of the Moon could see Phaedra's desire, even from her perch in the evening sky.

Phaedra had arrived at the Goddess' holy hour- the time when she took up her brother's mantle as ruler of the sky. The new evening glittered with bright stars- stars that shone upon the hideous form of the cursed pegasus as if to taunt her. But the Goddess of the Moon, beautiful as she was, saw little shame in Phaedra's condition. It had revealed an unexpected inner beauty. What a shame it was that the mare wished to squander it all on such a manipulative magic.

Then again, the Goddess herself would have done no differently. As she formed from the shadows behind Phaedra, standing as a massive figure painted in a delicate violet, the wanton mare's appearance faded once again to beauty. Starshine glimmered across Phaedra's young coat, each shimmer strengthening the magic she had earned. From the darkness, the Goddess spoke like a whisper, fading into dark until she was no more than an echo left from her words:

"And thus the beast returned to beauty, with the magic to enhance her skill."

And then, silence.
