Brooke
the envious snake

Swollen ankles carried the heavy duty body of the pregnant mare. Labor pains struck at her sides as she paced uncertainly across a patch of the meadow. Plowing down tall dried up grasses. The heat of the day finally giving way as the moon settled in above her. Darkness consuming her. The timing was off. She hadn't seen Torasin in a while and was beginning to wonder if he'd be able to accompany her during these painful moments. It seemed so, that he wouldn't be there just yet.
A sharp pain stabbed at her sides as she crashed to her knees. The unsoft, so hard and crunchy dirt, scraping at her swollen limbs. Her heavy neck landed to the ground with a thud as each strand of hair smacked at her. Mane covering her sky blue orbs. While praying to the Moon God that nothing would threaten her at such a vulnerable time. A distressing cry left her lungs as she whispered a name "Torasin...!"
With a hard sigh, she pushed. Pushed and pushed and pushed. The pain now becoming unbearable. Brooke grinded her teeth together. Clenching and moaning the mare cried out again. The call almost desperate. The smell of blood stained her nostrils. One child came. As she breathed in for a few moments before bending her neck back up. Rushing to clean at the first born. Labor pains still shocking at her sides. 'Another one?!' her eyes teared. Getting a good look at the precious colt that came first, a chestnut color with the painted colors that her and Torasin possessed.
Again her neck was thrown to the ground with the familiar knife like stab. 'Fuck.' she screamed at herself in the tendrals of her mind. Heaving sides pushed twice before another body lay upon the ground. She sighed with a loud hum. Taking a few moments to gather her strength. Before realizing the vulnerable state her and the two most beloved children in the world were at. Gripping front hooves hit the earth with a powerful thud as she lunged to her feet. Sky blue eyes gathering in the surroundings. Ears alert as her teeth dripped blood. The grinding caused her to tear at the inside of her lips.
Her head now turning to the laying foals. Cleaning them with her warm tounge. The second born was a dappled buckskin, with paint markings. Both the boys had soft white hair. Nothing close to her long locks but they would grow. Nudging at the chestnut she helped him to his feet. The other at the moment had seemed to be sickly. Coughing a few times, up white mucus. "This will not do..." she whispered quietly to herself.
As the chestnut wandered around to suckle he seemed strong at the feet so she worried none and proceeded to clean at the buckskin. Motioning him to get up. He worked at his feet for a bit before stumbling along next to his brother. A smile leaked across the snakey female. Her stress relieved. Tipping her tiara towards her twins she let gracious names drip from her tounge. "Nym." she gently said to the chestnut painted foal. "Abel." Brooke's voice dripping honey to the next.
Although Brooke was a sly mare she knew this family was pure and would stay forever in her heart. She held the two new ones as dear as she held Torasin. Oh how she hoped he would show up soon. Kiba would surely feel her distress or would happen to fly above the scene. Scoping out her surroundings once more she flicked her tail to cover the two. Long strands laying like a blanket on the rumps of two colts. Foals at work, suckling. High alert was the stance of our snakey gal.

Faithful like old boots, Torasin moved at a brisk canter towards the Meadows. The cry initially picked up by a hunting Kiba, who felt her distress too. The low thud if his heart beat was quicker than usual, the arrival of his son imminent. On the journey Torasin wondered if Brooke was okay, the stallion knew he would be no good in child birth. His worrying would hinder more than help. Thoughts were pushed away as Tor cemented the fact that this was Brooke, the toughest mare he had met to date. With a temper to go with it.

The Meadows came into view and Torasin quickly spotted Brooke, who appeared to be on her feet now. Eyes bulged as Tor noticed there was not one small body... But two! One was chestnut and ivory, Nym, who seemed stronger than the other but walked with a limp and owned a set of striking blue eyes. Just like his mother. A flash of dun pulled his attention to the other, Abel, who looked a little more sickly than Nym. He held a familiar greenness to his eyes and Torasin was relieved when he got to his feet. Watching the two he welled up in pride, two boys. Twins. Who would of guessed? The stallion moved towards Brooke and placed an affectionate muzzle on hers, "we have beautiful sons, milady Brooke" he gazed at them. Leaning down, he nudged each in turn greeting them as their father. Kiba landed on his back, staring at them curiously. Saying his own draconian hello.

A shimmer walked the lands.

A ray of sunlight danced above her.

In the heat, the mare barely needed her magic in order to appear as her namesake. The heatwaves rising from the dry earth blurred her from view already, but her magic wrapped itself so willingly about her charred frame that it was almost hard for her to remove it. The Fields she looked over, in the shade of the threes that rimmed it, aware of the happenings within. It was habit for her to keep track of these things, for she longed only for the golden painted steed’s happiness, and having Brooke die would make him unhappy – therefore the mare made it her business to ensure the mare came to no unnecessary harm.

Akaith was abuzz with excitement, as births always did bring out the best mood in her. She seemed to glow of her own accord, vibrant and golden like the hide of the stallion that entered the lands before them. The queenly one longed to sing a chorus, but instead quaked with anticipation upon the withers of her beloved bonded.Soon, my dear. The soothing, settling singsong melody of Mirage’s voice sounds in the dragon’s mind, and the gold regains her composure, settling to watch the small family before them enjoy their moment. It is rude to spy. Akaith utters soon, her longing to greet the newborns with her song evident through the bond.

Abruptly, Mirage seemed to agree, for she moved then, picking her way delicately through the edges of the realm, allowing her magic to drop from her form a polite distance away and inclining her tiara. She didn’t really intend to hover too long, she guessed that the couple would want to buzz over their children together. But it was important to the mare, to make herself known to the stallion, for she always wanted him to be assured that her presence was never far from him, and that she would always be there if he ever needed her presence. The golden queen flew above her, sounding a melodic song of felicitations to the group.

Rich, amber eyes looked over the colts briefly, and the little shadow mare was reminded of her brothers, though she never did see them as newborns, that these were twins and colts strung a familiar note within her. A sincere kindness reflected in her eyes, at least when she looked to Torasin and smiled a small smile, her façade fading somewhat when it met with Brooke’s gaze but not enough to cause offence – she truly did wish to congratulate them both. Such births seemed frequent of late, and Mirage almost felt like she was behind the times – but the mare was a wise one, she did not long to bring forth young life of her own until a homeland was able to provide stability and security for her. Until that day, no new life would grow in her belly.

The queen greeted Kiba enthusiastically as always, before ducking her wings in the air to the couple and the twins in a draconic salute, and landing smoothly upon Mirage’s withers, who still stood a little ways away; not wanting to intrude. They are not well, but will grow. Akaith divulged to her bonded, who gave no reaction to the words, but observed for herself the awkward way the twins seemed to be, slightly more awkward than simply getting to know the newness of their bodies. But there was little she could do about it, she did not possess healing magic nor in depth knowledge of correcting newborn ailments.

“Congratulations, from myself and Akaith.” The resonant hum of her voice broke the silence, her accented words conveying the sincerity of her demeanour.

Brooke
the envious snake

The form of Torasin gathered in her sky blue eyes. A familiar burn in her chest crawled its way around her body. "My love!" she greeted him with happiness. Pushing the two boys towards their father. Curving her neck to face their tiny hind ends. Nudging tapped at their tails with her nose. Nym was rather excited to meet his father, a stumbly trot had his limp visible. The chestnut painted body reached a nose out to sniff at his fathers hooves. In the other presence, Abel, his curiosity was towards the dragon. Eyes in awe. Reaching his nose to Kiba a cough had him creeping backwards. Mucas crawling out his nares. Nym walked cautiously to his brothers side to comfort him. Neck in neck the colts settled to their knees as they rough housed for a moment. Brooke saddled up next to Torasin, head leaned towards Tor's mane, teeth scraped at the tendrals as she playfully nibbled her mates strands. Watching Nym and Abel with protecting eyes. Both boys curled up with each other biting at each others ears and failing to stay awake.
Until Mirage showed up. Brookes entire form just collapsed. She became tense and uneasy. Although she was proud to prove to the black mare she won Torasin and now they had a beautiful family. The tall painted mares ears flicked forward with curiosity. "Thanks." she said, it wasn't exactly snobby, but it sure wasn't the kindest thank you. A teasing smile curved her lips as the mare squinted her eyes. Every bone in her body aching to chase the black beings ass out of there. With Torasin by her side though she just stood in a pool of mixed emotions. Long hair blew in a gust of wind that traveled through the gathering. Every brown strand tickled at her tough hide. The foals she birthed jumped to their feet and stumbled around for their parents. Eyes stalking the black gal. They had nothing against her but they felt their mothers dislike for this midnight mare. Nym ended up walking underneath his father as Abel walked behind Torasin's hocks. The painted buckskin weaved in between his mother and locked his face in beside his chestnut painted twin. Curious blue eyes scanned both the dagons and curious green eyes sucked in every bit of Mirage.

[ooc- I would have finished this sooner but my friend unexpectedly arrived at my house with news that she is moving... So we spent a few days together. D: i miss her already.]

Not so far off, a plump faerie sits upon the back of its mighty steed, sipping of fermented honeydew nectar and basking in the sunlight, quite enjoying the heat of the summer, when suddenly a bluejay flew past, trumpeting loudly. The faerie tilted its head to catch the jay's message, before jumping up and screaming in excitement.

"Happy day, happy day, two colts are born not far away! Shall we go say congrats, my friend? I think we shall, before we... bend!" (The faerie was not so good at rhymes when it was sober, and right now it had taken a few steps past tipsy, if you know what I mean)

With a shriek, the corpulent creature kicked its trusted steed into action, setting off at a brazen pace of nearly five miles per hour. In no time at all, the pair had reached this happy little family, a paint and a paint and a black and two little colts. How joyful they must be, on this occasion! The burped loudly to announce its presence, before rising haphazardly into a standing position.

"Good day to you, oh joyful three!" Its voice sounded like a mixture of squealing and buzzing, and he paused to take a swig of its liquor, wiping the drool off its lips with a mottley purple arm. "You make a lovely fam-al-lee" It grinned at the trio of adults, sharp yellow teeth visible in the sun. Really, they made quite the attractive group of parents! Beneath it, the warthog huffed before farting itself into a sitting position, sending the fat purple faerie tumbling from its back. "Humph!" exclaimed the creature indignantly, staggering onto its feet before extending wings that should have been far too small for a creature that fat, yet miraculously managed to carry it through the air and towards the newborn colts. Lost in its drunken stupor and delight at the newborns, it remained blissfully oblivious to the tension between the equines, humming off-key as it buzzed towards Able's face. Behind it, the warthog scratched his ear lazily, still emitting a delightful cloud of stench.
