It had been several months since Tio's disappearance. He had been building storm clouds around the Dragon's Throat in preparation for war and then suddenly, without warning, without any kind of sign, it vanished, and so had he. Now, as Orangemoon gripped the land in it's chilly golden fingernails, a bronze-hued stallion limped his way through the deep forest. He remembered his last trip into these trees and anger raged behind those acidic green eyes. All of his plans, ruined. And now Frostfall was knocking on the door, and he had no choice but to wait until Birdsong to build up his army again. The land was preparing for hibernation, and so to must his threat.

He hobbled forwards with a soft squeal of pain and fell against the thick trunk of a tree. He recognized the place as the same clearing he had met Ktulu in. He tried to bend his left foreleg, but the pain was too great for him to achieve much. Gasping for breath and bracing himself to continue to a more sheltered place, he froze as he heard rustling in the undergrowth nearby. He blinked, pricking his ears and looking around. Many moons had passed since the Grey had made their home here, and he knew when great power suddenly moved away, other things were likely to come out- dangers that would never have dared show their face before. As he was now, he was an easy meal with a target painted on his barrel.

Then the wind changed course and it ruffled his mane and blew a scent towards his nose that he hadn't sensed in a very long time. But... what was she doing here? Why now? His eyes raked over the surrounding trees and he snorted. Raising his head, he called out, first wordlessly, and then-

"Phaedra? ... That you?"

He had not missed the fact that there were other scents too, several, in fact, and he felt a growing sense of unease as he realized she was not alone.

Oh Sugar

A scarlet smile spread across the spy's sooty lips, as she moved without sound, in the Deep, Dark Woods. The sickly brindled stallion had missed much, so much. The golden-girl hardly even needed to rely on the magic gifted to her by Ophelia, when they overtook the Foothills and Phae became their lead Spy - for so long she bide her time in these very woods. There was little that she knew better, than his layout. Even so, the dampening effect of her magic - the ability it gave her to move soundlessly and without drawing attention to herself - was a gift that she did not mind abusing.

Nevertheless, it appeared he knew she was there - sensed her anyways - for he hesitantly called out to her. Her smile widened, as she glanced behind her, at the party of her fellow Grey, who followed in her wake. She still thought of them as the Grey, rather than the Foothills- likely she always would. They were her family, and once again, they stood behind her (literally in this case) to back her play. This mission, was all about snuffing out a threat, once and for all. After the successful Invasion of the foothills, a new group, the Assassins has popped up. Was Tio behind that? He had gotten so quiet - so scarce. She had birthed her twins, and gained three types of magic, and not once had his vibrant green gaze found her. She wanted to know what he was up to - they all did.

Signalling for her group to halt, Phae's sultry sea-green gaze surveyed each of them with a tantalizing smile. Ready? Her eyes seemed to ask of them. The plan was simple; Phae had been following Tio; after reporting back that he appeared to be severely hobbled, a plan had been put into place rather quickly, to ambush him.

Tharos had never met Phaedra personally before, but he'd heard enough about her to know that she was the lead spy in the foothills where he had attempted to make his home. He did not feel himself welcome there, and so he had run off to follow his own agenda. That was largely centered around finding his father. When he'd heard rumors that Tio was holed up in the Deep Forest, he had gone there, tracking his father by scent.

He was approaching Tio from downwind when he heard the stallion call for someone. The draft mutt snorted quietly to himself and then broke through the line of trees, silver-blue eyes glaring at the stallion leaning against the trunk like he was nose to nose with a demon. He knew another group were here to ambush his father, but he wasn't going to let them take Tio anywhere without him being a part of it. Whatever they were going to do with him, he wanted to be a part of Tio's suffering.

With that in mind, he distracted his father by appearing from behind him and trotting around the tree to see the look on Tio's face. Silvery blue met Acid green for a moment and silence reigned between them as father and son sized each other up. At least until Tharos snorted darkly and pawed the dirt beneath his hooves. He lifted his head high, white forelock falling over his left temple as he did.

"Hello, father. Been a long time, now... hasn't it?" Without warning, Tharos reared back and struck out with his forelegs in order to punch Tio in the shoulder. It wasn't a friendly kick, or even a manly-bonding kick. It was an "I hate you" sort of kick. The fact was doubled by the look on Tharos's face as he landed on all fours and watched his father crumple. "Take him." He growled through gritted teeth at the horses he knew were behind him. "Before I kill him myself."

Murdock followed close behind the sooty palomino, emerald eyes scanning the spaces between trees for any sign of their target. Ahead of him, Phaedra hardly made a sound as she wound around roots and moss-covered rocks, and he had to remind himself to pick up his feet so as not to betray their location. The Deep Forest was still so familiar to him despite the time that had passed since his last visit; he had become so accustomed to the woods as the Grey’s former home that he doubted he could ever forget its layout.

Earlier that day, the group had been debriefed on their latest ‘mission’ that involved neutralizing yet another threat. As if the Assassins weren’t causing them enough trouble, the stallion who had been threatening the Throat at the time of the Foothills invasion was now back on the map. Personally, Murdock doubted the outcast would get far with his plans what with Frostfall drawing near, but he was all too eager to be putting his training to use and as such had no complaints. He had never worked with the Intelligence side of the Grey before and he couldn’t help but feel clumsy and loud as he followed the golden spy who had helped recruit him into the family.

He came to a halt behind Phaedra as she gave the signal, craning his neck around low-hanging branches to catch sight of their target. In the clearing ahead, a lone stallion leaned up against a tree, clearly favouring his left foreleg. Murdock watched as the dun turned about, staring into the forest and calling out as if he knew they were there. Shifting about uncomfortably, he couldn’t shake the uneasy that he had been the one to compromise their position; it hadn’t been him of course, but the silence of the forest and the tension in the air lead him to succumb to such paranoia.

Ducking back into the shadows, Murdock placed himself out of view to await their next orders. A faint rustling of the undergrowth announced the arrival of someone else, and he peered through the leaves to catch sight of the stranger. The plot thickens, he thought darkly as he watched another enter the clearing. Emerald eyes followed the tobiano as he headed straight for their target, greeting the dun as his father with malice in his tone. Frowning slightly, he watched the scene unfold with a mixture of confusion and anticipation, unable to decide whether they should be relieved or concerned by the grullo’s arrival.

However, it seemed that Catillatio’s son would be the perfect distraction for them. Though his methods were violent to say the least, it appeared as though he was doing them a favour. Stepping out of the trees with the other members of his party, Murdock glanced down at their fallen prisoner where he lay on the moss. He couldn’t help but see himself in the dun, as he had once been in a very similar position when captured from his home. Though he was sure the Grey would treat their captives better than those thugs from his homeland, being held against your will was nothing to look forward to.

The stud's auds flicked back towards the sound of rustling. The wind was working against him, so that the sound of rustling undergrowth was all he had to go on to know someone was approaching him from behind. He tried to turn his head to see who it was, but the trunk he was leaning against obscured his vision. Still, when the stallion moved around him into his line of sight, the bronze-colored sire lifted his head to meet the gaze of his son. He realized that meeting his son here when he was in no condition to defend himself was what he classified as a sticky situation and while his face remained stoic, he couldn't help but to feel a trickle of fear grip his heart. Tharos was going rogue, as he had expected.

"Hello, father. Been a long time, now... hasn't it?" Tharos was the one to break the silence first, confirming for everyone the relationship between the two. When Tharos reared up, Tio was physically incapable of dodging the blows, so the landed squarely, causing the dunskin to crumple to the ground with a grunt of pain. When he fell unconscious to the floor, he sprawled out, his left foreleg refusing to bend as always.

After a moment of complete stillness from the stud's immobile status, his passive magic activated and his body camouflaged him so well that it seemed he disappeared into thin air. However, he was still solid, so his disappearing act could be exposed pretty easily. All you had to do was poke the area he had been... or trip over him. Either way, he'd still be in the same place despite his invisibility. The important thing was, he was basically an easy target, and could be taken anywhere now that he was out cold.

This will be the last post by Tio, seeing as he's out cold. (lol) I give you guys permission to do anything you want to him, from now until the end of this thread or I deem he wakes up. As long as you don't kill him... or mortally wound him... or maim him with any lasting scars. xD
