@[Argos] first, then @[d'Artagnan] and @[Ulrik] when you have the time! :3 This takes place before DEAD MAGIC. Argos, let me know if you want me to edit something. ^^

All your vivid dreams and nightmares will now fall down from the sky
when it hits you, the painless jump and fall.
He was the wolf leading the lamb. Frosted hooves walked a certain path north, guiding the spindly, fragile frame of his companion – Argos. She was a dainty thing, lissome and dark, with eyes of vibrant green and wings; large, majestic wings to carry her through the skies. For all that Mauja knew, she was innocent, a stranger who simply happened to end up in the wrong company. There was a certain irony to it as well: he'd approached her with the intent to give her a home, but not this one. Until she had, by some twist of fate, placed her jaws in the mouth of the lion, and turned the knight in shining armor aside, choosing pain over pleasure and life. Did she have any clue what she was walking into? Did she have any clue that the stallion who led her, who joked and laughed and smiled his little smiles, was perhaps not what he seemed? There was a darkness to him, clinging to him just like his shadow did, but he did not let it show, and what little of it that did show seemed as natural as just that: a shadow. And everyone cast a shadow when the sun struck them. Everyone had some sort of hidden darkness, but it was a depth that could not be measured, for it fled under scrutiny. It couldn't be seen. There was no way to know.

He was not some huge, hulking beast with bull's horns and flaming red eyes; he was not black as the night itself, nor did he breathe out smoke when he exhaled. He was pale and graceful, regal and glacial, with eyes of frost, but for all his frigidity he seemed strangely warm. He was one who bore his secrets very close to his heart, a master of games and masquerades, liar to the point where he wondered if he even told himself the truth.

Snow swirled around him as they walked, day and snowfall turning to a cold night, time passing around them – a chance to lure her deeper, snare her tighter, with little half-shown grins, bind her to him and her cursed fate. And finally, in the pale light of a rosy dawn, the Basin walls towered before them; dark, jagged mountains broke the wan horizon, capped with glaciers and snowfall, indomitable and impregnable. "Home lies beyond those mountains," he told her in a hushed voice, a note of warmth lacing the words, a false promise of peace and security – a chance to learn, but only the cruelty of others, wintersouls strewn across the desolate landscape, like hungry, merciless wolves. The little moments of guilt had been since long subdued, swallowed by the flimsy joy of a game, a hunt, and he reached out to brush his soft muzzle against her fine neck, a teasing laugh under his breath before he set off. Could one race a pegasus and win? Perhaps; straight as an arrow, and with his tail flagging proudly, Mauja ran towards home as the first arcing rays of sunlight slipped over the eastern horizon.

The pass was easy to miss if you didn't know your way. Narrow and trapped among the many crevices and false starts it was their natural barrier, but he knew the way despite the many days since he had last set foot upon it. The clatter of his hooves was muffled by the snowy carpet, and he slowed to a walk, glancing over his shoulder at Argos. "Through here," he said cheerily, a warm smile twisting his lips before he set off through it, sure-footed as he took them through its twists and turns, until finally the sun was beaten down on them from above, and the valley spread out before their feet; rolling slopes coated with a thin layer of snow, the dark band of a forest on the horizon, and the shimmering surface of their large lake sitting in the center. Mauja drew in a lungful of the cool mountain air, expelling it in a thunder burst, a cry calling for someone, a wordless summons – he'd taken her this far, but he didn't know what to do with her now.

He needed someone with a bit more of, ah, inspiration.

"Welcome home," he said in the silence after his call. I'm not sure you'll enjoy your stay.

Argos

Im just trying to survive you

Argos smiles to herself softly. She will finally have a home where she can watch other species and maybe be accepted. She sighed and fallowed the big stallion Majua to his home... Their home... she was giddy with excitement and she pranced behind him happily. She blushed every-time he looked back or smiled slightly at her, was he that excited for her to be a part of his home?

Soon the cold day became a even colder night, she shivered ever so slightly trying to be strong. But the duo walked on closer and closer, finally at the brink of dawn they arrived at what looked like a icy wall that made her stomach quiver with a mixture of fright and excitement. She looked up at the sun rise and softly gasp it was beautiful a rose color but not to rosy more like the pink nose of a new born foal she smiled to herself. Will she ever have foals of her own? She wondered. She looked back at the mountains worried but when Majua spoke she felt automatically relaxed "Home lies beyond those mountains," warmth in his hushed words and the excitement built more and more to over come the fear she felt.

Argos jumped in surprise as she felt a soft muzzle brush crossed her black thin neck and she looked up at the blue eyed brute with shock and confusion. Now, Why did he do that? she thought to her self. Then he laughed a rich sound coming out of his mouth that warmed ever bit of her she could not help but giggle slightly in her bell like way. Then he bolted she smirked and ran as fast as she could matching his speed perfectly she pushed slightly faster when he turned and she skidded after him laughing in the process of her clumsiness. Majua looked back at Argos and smiled happily "Through here," he said cheerfully she pranced beside him as a warm grin formed its way onto his lips, they went through twists and turns she begged for her self not to be clumsy because anyone who had the guts to come down here HAD to be sure footed. The pair finally reached where the sun could warm their backs and they could see the Aurora Basin. She marveled at its beauty as the valley rolled and the forest shadowed, and the lake shimmered. She smiled she made a good choice after all.... Or so she thought.

d'Artagnan was quite peacefully dozing by the side of the sparkling lake when paws fell over paws and Aramis quite spectacularly ducked head first into the pool, splashing ice cold water as he did so and startling the shade from his colourful day dreaming. For a moment, the Time Mender blinked out at the landscape around him, squinting as the sun rose to another day before his sight finally adjusting and he threw a gaze like daggers at the hell dog. A drop of water slowly trickling down his annoyed face. The pup, tail between his legs, inched out of the pool and sat by his bonded's hooves, face cast downward as he pined an apology. d'Artagnan shook his damp mane and snorted, choosing to say nothing and forgiving the hound for now. Something else had caught his attention. Against the morning light, the Doctor saw the shadows of two enter the Basin down the narrow path, one was large and quite familiar. The other he didn't recognize, though it was hard to tell from such a distance. "Aramis! Scout on ahead, I'll follow" bad behaviour forgotten, the dark pup bounded off at a speedy lope, long pink tongue rolled out to one side. d'Artagnan followed at a brisk canter.

It wasn't too long into their speedy mission that d'Artagnan caught Mauja's strange summons on the air and he frowned in slight confusion, confirming to himself that it was the Frostheart he had seen navigating the narrow path. It also made the question of his fellow traveller much more interesting. Just what was Mauja up to? Claws dug into the snowy surface and the ebony cur bolted sharply to his right, sprinting towards the two forms that stood atop a slope with his hoofed bonded carefully following behind. It was then the fur sprang up along Aramis's spine as gilded eyes locked onto the hornless chicken vermin, a ferocious growl ripping from dark lips as swirled markings sprang to life in hues of violent red. The pup screeched to a halt near Mauja's feathered feet, waiting for his bonded to catch up and the words of command to be spoken so he could rip into the winged mare's throat.

A clattering of hooves sounded the arrival of d'Artagnan, ears flattening at the pegasus as grey lips parted to bellow at his best friend. "MAUJA!" He'd not seen the wallowing Lord since they'd got pissed after the herd meeting. What a marvelous night that was! Walking now, he turned himself round and moved to stand next to his Lord who would receive a friendly shoulder bump if he did not move. "Are you still drunk?! Why are you bringing a rat into the Basin?" He demanded quite sharply, eying her with suspicion as he tried to come up with a reason for the spotted stud to bring her here. To the cold and bleak Basin. Was she another prisoner? Was he not privy to some idiotic plan he'd conjured up? Or was she an addition to his growing harem of mares? Surely he wouldn't want to breed off that. d'Artagnan snorted, head held high in disgust at her presence, but he said no more and waited for Mauja to explain himself.

ENGINEERS CREATE THAT WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN

Ulrik was moving north again, the first time he had returned since Kri had so kindly removed himself and Cassiopeia from the snow. He had found the trip delightfully dull, but Kri had been almost pleasant, especially compared to the shit-for-brains unicorns that called that desert their home. On his return, he had managed to stumble upon a kindred spirit in black who had asked to be entertained. And entertain he did. The charcoal stallion had told a myriad of delightfully funny and dark jokes, and he return, he had been given some sort of orb.

Curious, he had stayed and watched the orb until after two weeks, it hatched into this bizarre pup with much too long of legs and much too big of paws. What fascinated him the most though is that he could feel this hellion inside of his own mind. Something.... someone with which to share his inner most thoughts? Perhaps? Ah, he would have one follower for the glorious call to make them all whole.

Make. Them. Whole.

It repeated like a mantra in his head until the tiny, tumbling ball of bones and fluff howled with the same cadence. Ulrik grinned. A mad grin.

Together, he and the shrimp traveled north. He called it Kirchoff, the name of his great grand-sire who had also been rather... gifted like he was. The presence in his mind was male, which was excellent because having a female entity in his own mind would have resulted in him culling the bitch. Ah, but the little male was sharp, and very interestingly colored, almost like himself with little tendrils of grayish smoke pluming from his marking, paws and eyes.

What did that mean, he wondered?

Ulrik was pulled from his trance-like state of wonder by the movement of another heading north. Mauja, the Ice King was taking a pegasus north, presumably to the Basin. Why? The black beast reached down and gently picked up the pup in his mouth, resting the creature on his back for safe measure. A journey to the snow at his pace may result in damage to the hellion's growing body, and Ulrik would not disrupt the beautiful machine of nature as he did his work.

The black beast stayed far behind the pegasus and the Frost Heart, stopping every now and then to introduce the hellion to a new concept. He assumed that the creature had to eat, so he sent his metal wolf after small prey, feeding it to the live one soon after. Once Mauja had crested the narrow path, Ulrik followed, his cloven hooves easily helping his massive, muscular figure navigate the icy surface. His long, leonine tale acted as a balance, swaying behind him to counter act his height. After picking his way down into the valley, he heard the fury of the doctor reach his ears, and the engineer smirked before the expression fell away, returning to madness.

Ulrik strode into the fray and then gently placed the scrawny baby on the ground to play, perhaps with d'Artagnan's little wolf creature. His bronze eyes then slid to the pegasus, his gaze tracing every contour and flow of the creature's body. Perhaps this would have been sexy if not for the mad glint in Ulrik's eye, promising more pain than he did pleasure. She did not have much to her, as she was skinny and dark, almost like a starved dog looked when emerging from the water. Compared to his sheer, muscular mass and imposing size, the mare was almost... child-like.

The stallion's smile curved his lips, saying nothing but not removing his gaze from the creature. All he could see was a metal spike sticking out of her skull, blood pouring between her eyes. The taste of her screams almost reached his mouth... almost.

Sorry for the wait, life/muse stopped cooperating! Argos, I'm ignoring your last post because you went out of the posting order, please delete it and then go again after me. :3

All your vivid dreams and nightmares will now fall down from the sky
when it hits you, the painless jump and fall.
It was now the game began, the hard part. How do you convince someone to stay still, to keep their head between too-large teeth and trust the jaws no to snap close? He was uncomfortably aware of the black wings Argos bore, her ticket to easy freedom, just a leap and a beat was all it took and she would be gone, with a tale he'd rather not have her tell. If she tried to leave, could he force her to stay? Could she somehow keep her calm, without giving anything away? She was willing, eager to come home, and he felt almost guilty at how easy it had been to whisk her away. She seemed a mixture of both shy and flirtatious, her tinkling giggle never far away, and he felt more like his other persona – Dreven – than himself as he drew it from her, racing and prancing until they finally stood there, at the start of something. Or was it the end? The beginning of the end? The end of the beginning? He didn't quite know, and stole a moment for himself, eyes sliding shut; his lungs expanded, drew in the cold, cold air.. released it in a white cloud. Calm. It would work out, somehow. Back-up was coming.

And one he didn't mind at all. The sound of paws on snow had his eyes opening again, age-old wariness having his eyes scanning, only to find it was no hungry wolf but the growing, leggy pup of the Doctor. "Aramis!" he called in delight, wondering if d'Artagnan would think him mad. It felt like someone had rattled his brain loose, shaking all the emotions up to the surface, but it was faux joy that lit his eyes, something that wasn't quite real but masterfully replicated. But then, Aramis was standing beneath Argos, fangs bared and a growl rippling through his body, and Mauja gave the hellhound a scowl. He was just as subtle as his bondmate – that is, not subtle at all.

Red glow washed against the snow, like a premonition of what was to come, and Mauja made a half-hearted move to bat the pup aside with one frosted hoof. All for show, of course. He didn't want their prey taking off, and if that meant pushing Aramis aside, so be it, but barely had he commenced the motion that the Red himself came up the hill. At the same time, Irma told him Ulrik was coming up the pass; d'Artagnan's gaze seemed to fly to the mare, her wings, her forehead, and then he bellowed, "MAUJA!". Was it a rebuke? Well, maybe. But Mauja just found himself grinning, and shouted "D'ARTAGNAN!" in his face despite the fact that there was less than two yards between them now. Then, he stole a sideways glance at Argos, as if to assure her that it was perfectly normal for them to yell each other in the face. It wasn't, though. New tradition, maybe?

Red bumped against white, and Mauja half-staggered to the side to counter the shove, an amused look upon his face. Well, at least he was mostly forgiven for bringing the hornless here, but if the Doctor had divined the purpose yet, he gave no sign of it – just called her a rat, in a fashion that was a bit too bold for Mauja's like. Don't scare her off, he thought, trying to level a stare at him, before replying in a mirthful voice, as if it was all some joke. "Maybe I thought the cats were hungry. Or—" He gave his 'brows a wiggle. "—maybe I am still drunk!"

By then, Ulrik had come up to them in his usual silence. The taciturn engineer deposited a small, shaggy pup by their feet, and said nothing, but Mauja was sure he'd start talking soon enough. Still, he was determined to keep Argos on the ground, and had to keep the pretense up a little longer. "Argos, this is d'Artagnan, and never mind the silent fellow there." He'd already yelled d'Artagnan's name, but he wasn't going to drop Ulrik's unless he wanted it. He threw the Engineer a glance that was welcoming, though, before leaning in to d'Artagnan with the pretense of nipping fondly at his ear. But in truth, he spoke, a whispered hush. "Got anything to keep her calm?"

Argos
Im Just Trying To Survive You

Argos small coal auds pricked as she sensed someone coming or something she nickered worriedly as a wolf thing approached them. What was that!? She snorted as the creature growled and snarled at her feet, she stopped as someone coming up another unicorn stallion, she smiled warily at him before she saw his annoyed disgusted look on his face her ears pinned in fear as he referred to her as a rat! She glanced down at the snarling wolf thing the markings on its body were glowing and the look in his eyes made her fear further and further for her life. She looked back up with her neon green orbs back at the annoyed stallion whom had his horned crown held up high and she could tell her presence revolted him she sighed.

Argos ears pricked as yet another horse was coming behind her she whipped around to see a frightening unicorn stallion and his wolf creature but it didn't look nearly as scary as the other unicorns. The new comers golden orbs slid towards her in a weird way and the look disturbed her it made her shiver slightly, the look was insane, mad, crazy whatever you wanted to call it, it made her blood run cold, colder then the night before.

All these stallions where powerful and dwarfed her in size, they made her look like a small child. She pressed closer to the stallion she trusted and shuddered as a small insane, cold blooded smile formed its way onto the dark stallions lips whom never took his eyes away from her it made her uncomfortable.

She looked at the stallions the first to come was a dark bay with two silver horns once smaller then the other, if he wasn't so rude she would find him dashing and interesting like she found Majua. The second to come was a black/grey color with gold marking and cloven hooves. She slightly pricked her auds at his tail, she had never seen one like it, intrigued her but she would not get close to him even if her small life depended on it.

Argos mustered up the courage to speak to the two mighty forms "Hello" but her voice was soft but still bell like she was nervous.

[soo sorry for the delay!!]

Aramis barked and ran over to the pup Ulrik placed upon the cold ground, his tail thrashing from side to side, forgetting about the pegasus and more interested in greeting a fellow hound. Wet, black nose carefully moving to sniff over the others body in curiosity whilst d'Artagnan nodded once to the engineer. It seemed this poor creature had crawled into the lions den with the unlucky chance of meeting the chiefs of gruesome. The shade turned his head to Mauja, ears twitching expectantly and awaiting his explanation for bringing this one to the bleak basin land, grinning at the frosted lord's bellowing return. It was then he caught the level stare of his best friend to which the shade darkly frowned at him, it wasn't him after all who brought a hornless into the basin. What sort of reaction was he really hoping for? The crimson stud said nothing, chuckling as Mauja joked about being drunk with his expression still one of slight confusion. He wasn't, after all, the sharpest mind in the basin and tended to lean more to the obvious avenue leaving him rather tactless.

It was then he was introduced to the hornless and he glowered when she spoke on soft tones. Throwing a last minute reproachful look at Mauja, he turned to the winged rat and snidely bowed his head. "I apologize for my earlier tone, it really is a pleasure to meet you, Argos" he mock smiled, trying his best to play the game. Though his voice barely reached a higher note than it's earlier growl. He felt the presence of his lord draw nearer, his silver lips reaching up to his ears to whisper a question. One the Nightshade was glad to have an answer to. He said nothing in reply, simply snorting and raising a brow at Mauja. d'Artagnan still wasn't sure what he was up to and he played along with intrigue.

Mismatched eyes fell on he mare and quite gently he released his magic, directing it towards her body and willing her senses to dull with narcosis. Whilst calming her body he turned to Mauja with a tilt of his head and eyes glittering, stretching his own nose to the pale ones ears before whispering "how calm exactly?" Did he want her sleepy, asleep or dead? The latter would have been the Nightshade's preferred option, but he awaited further instruction. Turning his concentration back to the mare. For now, he used enough magical power to lull her body and make her mind feel foggy, not sending her into sleep completely. After all, d'Artagnan still had no idea what Mauja wanted to do with her in the first place and he wondered if Ulrik would play a role. He sure hoped he did.

ENGINEERS CREATE THAT WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN

Ulrik's pup seemed just as excited to see one of his own kind, and he stood tall, mirroring the tail wagging motion of the other beast. A simple, silver design, almost like the black stallion's, ran up his leg and seemed to trail a strange smoke when he moved, and his eyes almost did the same. The pup growled playfully and tapped at the ground with his fore paws, jaws opening to lightly nip at the air in front of him, eager to get the larger wolf to join in his game.

Ulrik watched for only a few moments before turning his gaze back to the hornless creature Mauja had tugged along behind him so... graciously. Mauja told the mare to never mind him, and perhaps that was a good idea since Ulrik had no interest in politely averting his gaze like a normal stallion - in fact, he did not even entirely understand the concept. One ear tilted when a whispered breath moved past Mauja's lips and into the ears of the doctor, but the black stallion was not privy to that information, apparently.

No matter. Staring at the mare was much more thought provoking. Already he was thinking about ways to tear her wings to pieces and then stick a spike in her head. Could he wire it into her brain direction? How would he then control her movements? How did the brain work? So many questions about biology when he was just a simple man of electricity. Somehow this had to change, and he would have to learn from the gods about the integration of his shock to the body's natural current.

Until then...

The long, thick, leonine tail behind him began to sway and twist rhythmically in excitement, and he blinked his bronzed eyes, shaking the bronze-fringed fibers of the long beard that hung from his masculine jaws. The smile on his lips twisted upward a little more, reaching his eyes with even more madness. He moved closer to the other two stallions, watching as the doctor stared at her. When she murmured "hello", he furrowed his brows, wondering why she would choose to speak such a greeting.

"Sweet dreams." He growled, the tenor of his voice unnaturally deep and graveled. The stallion then turned to Mauja and his bronze eyes held some clarity from the madness. An iron, mechanical wolf approached his heels, red eyes blaring at the pegasus. "Interesting find, Lord Mauja," he commented, though his words were bathed in half-truths and questions. Why did you bring this thing here? "What are your plans?" Ulrik asked, hoping that there was more to this than just introducing a feathered bitch into the mix. He trusted the spotted stallion more than he trusted anyone else, but that was not exactly saying much.

As much as he wanted to do.... wild and wonderful things to this mare, he would have to wait for permission. Ulrik was not a blessed inhabitant of this land, only a colleague to those who chose this frost-pit as residence.

[ Imi's computer committed seppuku, so this thread might move a bit slowly. ^^ ]

Well, at least they weren't shoving him to the side and massacring Argos upfront. That was something to be grateful for, as Mauja was fairly certain both d'Artgnan and Ulrik (and, if he was going to be completely honest, himself too) were capable of doing it, and on short notice as well. Three wolves, a total of three and a half horns – what could possibly go wrong, when you tossed that into the same room as living, breathing body? Their restraint was remarkable, and the smile that curved his lips was perhaps pleasant to look at, unless you knew how to recognize the darkness brooding behind the bright blue irises. Mauja spoke with subtle signs, things that perhaps only seemed focused depth to strangers, but betrayed so much more to those who knew him.

Oh, yes, in some way, the guilt was turning to anticipation. When was the last time he'd looked forward to something? Though, he still did not have a plan...

Her voice was barely more than a whisper, a nervous tingle in his ears; d'Artagnan's rough voice and mocking bow had him smothering a snort. Really a pleasure, huh? Perhaps not so convincing, but at least the Doctor was trying! But then Ulrik growled something, and d'Artgnan was staring at their prey, and.. was that a tingle of magic? Mauja's eyes grew sharp and focused, staring as Argos' body started to betray the small signs of drowsiness... What is he doing? Watching a horse fall asleep wasn't all that exciting, so the Lord's frosty gaze settled upon the Doctor, as he asked how calm – so, it was his doing? Was it what the raised 'brow had meant? "Interesting find, Lord Mauja. What is your plans?" "To be completely honest, I hadn't thought that far," he admitted in a musing voice, reaching out to briefly rest his chin against the red curve of d'Artagnan's back. He was warm under Mauja's snowy jaw. "Perhaps I should give her to the pair of you.. you know, for science and all that." Again, the dark glint shimmered in his eyes, lips curving into a wicked smile.
