It’s that though we learn from our mistakes we’re condemned,
To make those same mistakes
again and again.

The Impersonator was curled up in a dull cave, shivering, waiting for a break in the snow. It was beautiful, gently falling onto the ground creating a thin and enchanting layer of white. Walking out into the snow was asking to get sick, while she loved the snow, with no sun to warm her, Arah decided to stay away from it. At least until it stopped snowing. As a result she was trapped in the tiny little cave, bored and cold. She did not feel like playing any games at the moment. Her mind was on matters of little importance, her friends, family and herd. She dedicated so much of her time to them, willingly gave her services to The Basin and asked for nothing in return. Arah did not mind this in the slightest, but she did wish others to respect her.

Golden orbs watched a single snow flake flutter to the ground, it's shape outlined dimly by the light that had begun in the centre of the Basin. It flipped over, it's decent slow and peaceful, how short it's beauty would be though. As soon as it hit the ground it would be the same as the rest of the snow on the ground. No longer would the snow flake be an individual beauty, it's exquisiteness would be lost to the rest. Had something like this happened to her? Was she one an individual snow flake, special on her own, only to join the Basin and be lost within the rest of the herd. The Impersonator did not think herself more beautiful than anyone else, but she did think that her personality had changed because of the Basin.

Arah had changed.

Finding her own company so depressing, Arah stood up. Her mane cascaded down her back and reaching the floor, her tail also sweeps the floor. Her hair reminded her of how she was before The Basin. Timid, scared and petrified of change, she had been horrified at the idea of cutting her magically altered hair. It used to be short, then her grandmother magiced it to be so much longer. Now...she was brave, a warrior and not scared of her own shadow anymore. She had grown into her skin, changed from filly to mare. Would it be a bad thing to chop off some of the length? She couldn't make her mind up, but she couldn't stand to be alone anymore. Time to brave the snow.

With gentle steps she stepped out into the open. It rested around her ankles, while the darkness of the endless night surrounded her. The Basin was quiet and she truly felt alone, barely about to see anything, Arah just stood in the snow watching the blackness grow.

There had been a time where the stag had been in blackness like this. It was actually in the darkness he was born really. For the cursed dark magical realm he was had seen was very dark and filled with nasty people. And what he remembered of it, was the only time he was with someone but very afraid. As a colt people wanted to kill him for his barred marks that the God upon those cursive lands had brought upon him. To them it was a bad omen. Though Farenjer hated them so much and didn't know why they wanted to murder him. The stag knew now. They were scared. They had become less then anything ever since the time of their banishment. They didn't need bad omens anymore.

Revealing the past inside his head, he remembered the times that were of raw memory. When he hid away in darkness, and he would remain silent and in solitude. And then, the blackout came removing everyone's magic and leaving them all in despair. He was more reluctant then ever when that time came hating to be back in the darkness. But this forever night had been helpful... it showed him he needed a grip and to become a less reluctant person. Because there was hope. Hope had brought him up on his feet and his spirits rise. But who had taught him this word and its meanings? Why, his first friend did.

The stag treaded through the snow, staggering on his way. As many bumps and rocks were hidden beneath all the snow and he did not wish to scar up his body. Endless powders of snow softly drifted to the ground from the black sky. His hot breaths could be seen as he cautiously walked through the white blanket. Farenjer halted for moments to see or listen for anybody. It was so dark... so quiet. Perhaps people like this hour as resting time? He wondered but couldn't seem to find a direct answer for all of this. That had come up in the dark hour. Pacing forward in a substantial position, he felt his locks of mane falling into his eyes but before he could shake it all off. He caught the white in his eyes.

At first he thought it was just another crystal falling to the blanket of white. But the thing remained in his sight line. It was another person, and his heart longed for it to be someone he knew well. And it was, he stooped forward, shaking his head for the locks to fall behind his ears, and his heart leaped for joy when he recognized the long mane and tail that fell to the floor. Antlers and colour. It is her. He began walking over to her, and until he was near her he halted and questioned "Arah is that you?" He felt the powder of snow drift and whirl onto his face and entangling into his tail and mane. But he kept his attention on her, silence remained on his face. Inside he was eager to have found her finally after this darkness had spread.

Crunch, did someone approach from behind? Yes, someone was about to come across her. Being so still and left with her thoughts, her ears picked up many sounds. Among them she heard the sounds of someone approaching. Figuring that it was a high chance that someone from her herd was coming closer, the white doe did not panic or become defensive. She just stood still and waited from them to finally come close enough for her to see them. Closer and closer the unknown soul came, then finally they stopped. Quickly a silence fell, however she just focused on the snow that still fell all around them. Why was it so damn cold? A voice she knew called out to her, from the darkness. The voice knew her name as well, she turned on the darkness and found her golden orbs settling on a figure that she could just make out in the darkness. Knowing who it was just from his voice, the white doe did not respond for a moment as happiness seeped into her. Farenjer had apparently taken her advice and decided to stay within The Basin. Hopefully it had gone well, and he had made other friends. Hopefully she had helped him.

She giggled, her mood lightened instantly by seeing the face of a friend. "Farenjer." She offers him a large smile now and approaches him slowly. Her breath frosted in front of both of their faces as she extended her muzzle and gently brushed his cheek in greeting. As she pulled back she studied his facial expression. "You look like you've seen a ghost my friend!" Another laugh tumbles from her lips as she studies the stag she had befriended not too long ago. She felt calmer in the darkness after having Crowley help her through the first time she realised that the sun was not going to rise. Under the moonlight, her eyes strained a little less to study her friend. The stars twinkled brightly over head. "Beautiful isn't it?" She sighed to him, slowly she turned her head upwards to study the moon, also to show him just what she was talking about.

Arah had always felt more at home when she was surrounded by a face or indeed faces that she knew. The Basin was where she belonged for now, this place, while the occupants may not have been as welcoming, had taught her to be tough and rise against all odds. It had been a struggle but The Basin had taught her how to stick to her own beliefs of what is right and what is wrong. To this day, while there had been some slip ups, she remained a non racist unicorn of The Basin. She was one of few, but with her strong will and refusal to jump on the bandwagon, Arah had remained fiercely independent. The arrival of Farenjer reminded her who she was. Kind hearted, strong, a warrior and someone who would never say no. Someone who loved to help others.
And I ain't afraid to die, I’m afraid of going to hell.

Silence awaited him as he placed himself near her looming and graceful form. He watched her instinctively turn around. Icy orbs set onto her golden ones. It ran small shivers down his neck to notice how many times those golden orbs had made him a little nervous around her. But the stag was too happy to finally have seen her again and in this darkness he would need the comfort and courage of a friend. For really, she was the only friend he currently had. As he stared to the icy blanket of snow that covered beneath them both. He heard her giggle lightly. The stag peered up back into her warm golden orbs.

"Farenjer." She gives him a smile that he couldn't help but connect with a small friendly smirk himself to her. He spoke quietly and nicely "Hello Arah." He watches keenly as she approached him, his ears forward on his head and looking at her in a happy way. Though really he was in bad shape from all this darkness. He was relieved to know there was shadows surrounding him and his flanks. He wanted to hide the sight of his rips protruding from the sides of his stomach. But the dark shadows that never lifted from the bottom of his eyes could not be hidden. As he kept a small and kind smile on his lips he watched and noticed her extend out and brushed her muzzle against his cheek. She then studied his face and exclaimed "You look like you've seen a ghost my friend!" His tail wavered in notice. And he watched her laugh. His eyes were warm with happiness seeing her like that.

When the twinkle of illuminating light was snatched in his sight he looked up to the looming sky beyond their heads and world. His jaws parted slightly as he awed at them. Watching the tiniest star slowly move across the sky, he didn't know why it was moving though. He had never seen the sky so filled with the shine of stars. "Beautiful isn't it?" She spoke in his ears. He raised his head back down to catch her looking up at the moon. Then repeating her looked up to the great object in the sky that everyone wondered about. What? The stars have returned? His thoughts subjected. But Farenjer didn't bother thinking about these things just yet. He thought about how mysterious the moon is and can be. Peircing the silence between them he spoke, his tone a little in wonder "Yeah, it is." He smirked and kept staring at the glow of it. He had been reminded of what his mother had once told him. "The Moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk too." He looked down and gazed at her still with a smirk "Now that she is back, people lost in the darkness won't be lonely anymore."

A R A H

He truly did seem quite happy to see her, which brought her more joy. Her coat shone gently under the moonlight while the snow swirled around them, locking them in a scene, it's beauty was worthy to be dreamt about. Exhausted had settled under his eyes, the darkness could no be hidden even under the subtle light. Golden orbs filled with concern, there was no darkness underneath hers to suggest sleepless nights. Soon she would mention it, but first she would get him to feel comfortable with her again. slip back into that easy conversation they had shared previously. Hiding her concern for him behind the gentle smile, the spy was well practiced in hiding her true emotions.

The sound of his voice reached her, both of their crowns tipped back to study the return of light in the sky. They were both basked in the moon's glow, Arah smiled when she heard that he too, could see the beauty that she was talking about. Missing the presence of the sun still caused her upset everyday, it changed the balance of the world. Nothing felt right to her, her own soul felt out of balance. She had always been so in touch with the earth and the sun, with so much darkness around her she struggled to find her usual optimism. She caught his gaze and studied his smirk. He was such a funny fellow, he had really caught her interest. Farenjer understood how she felt, being an outcast in your own family. Different from the ones who were made up of similar DNA to you. "I did quite miss her presence." Whispered Arah. Silly tears brimmed her eyes but she shook them away with a chuckle. "We have each other now, nobody should be lonely on a night like this."

Dropping his gaze, another chuckle fell from her lips. The snow flakes were resting and both of their manes and tails. Not to mention the cold was seeping onto her warm flesh, however she was really enjoying the moment and didn't want to ruin it by worrying about getting cold. Not to mention Farenjer had been kind enough to share the cold with her. None the less she moved a little closer to him, their shoulder brushed gently. "Oh sorry!" Giggling and turning her orbs back upon him Arah studied her friend once more. The blackness under his eyes was still very clear. Now she openly displayed her worry on her face, her eyes portraying nothing but concern. "You look...ill Farenjer." Shaking her head softy at him, Arah hoped that he was willing to let her help him. "Do you wish to talk about it?" Arah would always put his problems before her own. He looked far worse than how she felt, but surely nobody was right in the endless night. Surely everyone felt like their soul was cracked in half.

The stag's chin lifted back up into the air. The ball of mysterious light seemed to creep into his soul, basking him into the cold light. His eyelids closed slowly, feeling the extraordinary silver bathe his face in it. It felt peaceful, especially with the presence of her. As the quoting words seemed drown his mind with small and depressed memories of his pitiful mother. A sigh escaped from under his lips. He sure did wonder sometimes if his mother had actually made it. Or if she had been executed after her omen son's escape out of the banished lands. A frown crept onto his lips, and he felt as if he wanted to shake his head in thought. Surely they would not shed mercy on the woman who defied them. A disturbing image of his mother, lifeless and numb seemed to not surprise him now. If the unicorns were to murder his father for defending the omen son, then they surely were to kill the next who defended the wretched colt.

His eyes opened with sadness clouding them. Mother... I do miss you, and I'm sorry you gave up your life for an outcast... You deserved better. Another small sigh left his downed lips as a cold gaze gripped onto the orb of night. A whisper broke through the pregnant silence, it made his heart warm again and he tore away from sadder thoughts. "I did quite miss her presence." He slowly lowered his head and icy orbs wandered to her angel-like face. He saw the hint and presence of small droplets at her eyes, although they were gone the next moment after she softly laughed. "We have each other now, nobody should be lonely on a night like this." The small frown ran away and was replaced with a delicate grin. Arah seemed so friendly and treated him greatly. He never had been near someone who enjoyed his presence well only thought of him as an awkward acquaintance.

His head swayed around slowly to rest onto the landscape that lied beyond them. Towering peaks seemed to shadow little of the hidden valley. Silver lighted the blankets of snow, and the flurries of white seemed to slow down their fast patterns of motion. He wondered if the others were suffering. These wandering thoughts lifted away when he felt the warm embrace of her shoulder, and was gone in a second. "Oh sorry!" He smiled at her, turning to her presence "That's okay." He observed her, as warm honey orbs wandered at the dark tone that shadowed his eyes. The gaze seemed to hold and lighten with something. "You look...ill Farenjer." His smile erased and left expressionless. Her head swayed side to side softly "Do you wish to talk about it?"

His face unreadable in moments, he spoke, his tone friendly without nerve "Don't worry about me. I'm fine..." Although he hadn't slept good in a week, he did not want anyone to worry for his sake, especially Arah. In fact, it was him that was concerned for her. Suddenly his icy gaze grazed with concern as he met eye contact with her. He spoke gently "I'm concerned for you, are you fine Arah?" His question held, he held his sight on her, and it was easy to read the small anxiety in his eyes.
