It's beautiful - Arathea - 08-11-2014
The dry grass waved softly as a cool wind rolled over the meadow and briefly moved the warm air away. Though as soon as the wind had passed, the air became still yet again and it felt as if the temperature rose a bit. The sky at the horizon was clear, shifting in pale orange and darker purple in the setting sun and a few stars had peeked out over one's head. In the other direction, dark clouds grew slowly and growled quietly with their voices of thunder occasionally. Arathea sat on her usual, large stone and looked between the sunset and the skulking clouds. Her ears were perked forward and her expression would be close to that of an excited puppy. Everything about the evening was very beautiful for her and it sort of drove away the sad feelings of loneliness. She was too occupied looking this and that way, listening at every rumble of distant thunder and the noises of crickets and occasional bird hiding in the grass. A small part of the clouds lit up in a brief lightning and the wolf shivered slightly, smiling for herself. That something dangerous could be beautiful always excited her every time she came upon it. Part of you wanted to run and hide, the other part was drawn towards the object in question. Or... Event. Situation. Maybe a storm could not be called an object. Were clouds objects? Would you be able to touch them if you got up there. If she ever found a bird willing to talk to her, she would have to remember to ask it if you could sit on clouds. Maybe the winged horses got their nests on the clouds. Though... How would that work when the clouds faded? Maybe they built them on special clouds that did not fade. She shook her head briskly and chuckled. At least her rambling head with all its questions and thoughts did not distract her from her looking. The sun had set even more now, slowly pulling the light with it and turning the sky slowly more dark purple, going towards dark deep blue right over one's head and almost black over by the clouds. More stars had showed themselves by now to watch the meadow while she watched them, her head tipping from side to side as if she head some silent music and her tail tapped with it. Did the storm move away? Or did not move closer at the pace of snail? Maybe it was moving along the horizon, because the sky above her head was still clear and she could see one star popping up after the next. Though she was happy the storm took its sweet time to come over to where she was sitting. Looking in its direction, there was this dark, blurry wall of rain off in the distance. It could stay over there. But there was something more over there. Arathea frowned and perked her ears as something paler moved against the blurry wall, getting more and more clear. She squinted in a try to see through the dark. The way it moved reminded her of a horse's gait. Her head tipped slightly to the side, then more... Then more until she was almost holding it up side down and her tail wagged faster and faster out of her control. She recognized that pale one. She thought she did at least. It had to be him... The pale horse came closer and she could now make out the icy horn sticking out through the drenched forelock. Her tail swept and bounced over the rock behind her and she kept her weird positioning of her head. Mauja seemed to be doing alright, save being soaked in the chilly night. But she heard the laugh coming from him and it made her smile. He had not seemed to noticed her yet, though and she was about to make a move to catch his attention. However, she stopped herself and her ears moved back in an uncertain manner. They had not really been bestest of best buddies and at the same time not on a bad paw with each other. She still was not sure why she had just come to like the stallion. She just did. And he had trusted her enough to guard his little owl egg back in the day. Hopefully he would not be too angry with her having disappeared. Again... Arathea turned her head around again to sit properly, before leaning it back to let out a soft howl. When she tipped it forward, her eyes were fixed on the stallion and the smile lingered on her face. RE: It's beautiful - Mauja - 08-23-2014

((Yep X3 And pardon the short post. Just thought you had waited long enough. *sniffles with cold*)) Her smile faded at first and her ears moved back when her howl seemed to startle Mauja. It did not surprise her, him being a horse and she a predator, but it still made her feel uncertain about the whole thing. Though when they then looked at each other and the stallion's expression turned into a more happier one, Arathea's ears perked up again and the smile spread over her face once more. She stood up on the stone, swaying her tail quickly from side to side and made a little bounce with her front legs, lied down on her elbows for a second before standing up on her paws again. "King Unicorn! She is happy to have found him." She took a step to the edge of the stone and stretched out her nose towards him. Standing on all four on the rock, she would most likely have her chest at the level of his head if he held up. "She was worried he would not be found, or he would be displeased with her disappearing before. The winter drove her away." While holding her head out still, hoping he would accept her greeting, she sat down on her haunches and looked him over. He seemed to be doing alright... But... Arathea lifted her gaze and took a look around her, looked to the sky, looked across Mauja's back and then took another look around in the sky before settling her eyes on his again. "Where is the owl? She asked with a hint of concern. |
