SPIDERSONG [Patrol] - Rift - 12-05-2015
This is something All or nothing
RIFT He had yet to explore the heavenly fields and was glad that the directions he had received were detailed, otherwise Rift would have quickly found himself lost among the Helovian wilds. The path had been mired with mists and Rift had been forced to pick his way carefully about, as the path was littered with stones and debris. He supposed it would have been an easier task to fly directly to the fields, but whether he just hadn't had the idea or he wanted to be familiar with the terrain, he refused to admit. Looking about he, didn't see the winged form of Laedere or her companion, though he looked forward to reuniting with the sweet mare; he hadn't seen her since Tallsun when she had assisted in escorting Naerys back to the World's Edge. As his eyes scanned the immediate area, Rift searched for the blackened figure that he assumed would be Badger. At his briefing, he had only received the gent's name and description, though he looked forward to meeting yet another member of his herd. Taking a few steps forward and into the greenery that sprung up so liberally within the fields, Rift lowered his head and gathered a mouthful of sweetgrass. He straightened and moved forward once again, ducking down to snag another bite once his mouth was empty. He moved about the field slowly, staying close to the entrance path while keeping a sharp eye out for his herdmates' arrival. He had never been on a patrol before and decided that a full belly would ultimately help him weed out whatever scoundrels could be lurking in the grass. A chuckle erupted from the gangly lad, though the laughter sounded more like a chocking guffaw behind his full cheeks and sealed lips; what a joke, Rift, a defender of Helovia! He was nearly scared of his own shadow, how was he to protect those who actually deserved to be protected? RE: SPIDERSONG [Patrol] - Auriel - 12-06-2015
@Rift auri was a bit strange in this one..hope you don't mind her crashing your patrol thread ^^; RE: SPIDERSONG [Patrol] - Badger - 12-08-2015 I am somewhat relieved when my patrol this month is somewhere a bit less creepy than the crimson blood falls. Not that I didn't enjoy last season's meanderings, but the Heavenly Fields are far more my scene. I'm also happy to hear that I am to patrol with Laedere, as I'm rather fond of the woman who invited me to the Throat and unlocked this new period in my life. @Rift RE: SPIDERSONG [Patrol] - Laedere - 12-10-2015
Laedere was going to patrol. She didn't particularly want to patrol, but she knew that she had to. She had to help the herd out somehow, and since she didn't seem to be able to do so any other way this was how she would do it. She had been given a location as well as two names - two names that she had brought into this herd - Rift and Badger. So, Ardere started out before her. A beacon in the air as she heads out in the direction of the heavenly fields. Still, even though she knew the pair, she did not dare to allow her wings to spread - to feel the gentle breeze run through her feathers. No. It was not okay. She wanted to ignore the hole in her wing. She wanted to ignore the fact that she could not fly. It was a struggle, knowing that she was left on the ground when the rest of her kind could take to the skies, but she tried to not be as taken apart by it. When she arrived, she appeared to be the last one. Gentle orbs flickered between the pair before she allowed words to slip from her mouth. "Mine sincerest apologies for mine late arrival," a gentle lull of a tone to her voice as she moved in a little bit closer. Still, there was one more whom she didn't recognize lurking around them. She had come too late to hear any conversation that may have happened but she assumed one of them had already inquired as to who she was. "Mineself tis be Laedere, and mine companion be Ardere," she introduced herself and her companion to the foal before she shifted her weight and glanced back at the other Throat's members. Sorry for the wait! ;-; they say the good die young but they never really tell you that they never die alone RE: SPIDERSONG [Patrol] - Rift - 12-14-2015 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ayk0giuuvziv070/rift.css?dl=0">
This is something All or nothing
RIFT It was not long before the sound of a voice caused the munching stallion to tense in surprise. Some watchman. Pupilless ruby eyes slid up from the verdant earth to find the winged form of a mare, her skull crowned with horns and her coat pale. Straightening and working to swallow his mouthful of grass, Rift chewed silently for a moment before sucking in a breath and folding himself into a proper bow. As he rose, the stallion spied a dark smudge entering the fields behind her, but wrote it off as yet another friendly face; hopefully he would be right. A smile broke out over his finely dished features and he graced the lass with a modest nod, "Thank you, Miss Auriel." His voice had deepened with age, but it had lost none of it's cheerful tenor, "I rather admire your horns and your eyes are very pretty." Rift found himself looking too long at the mare and became nervous, what if she was more than friendly? He had seen mother act kind enough to those she wished to court. He pinned his scarlet eyes to the slate of his hooves, shuffling them uncomfortably and praying for direction. Salvation came in the form of his herdmates. The black smudge that had entered the grounds turned out to be Badger, the haltered gent greeting the pair easily and with aplomb. Before Rift could respond, though, the pale painted form of Laedere came into focus, the gentle mare speaking in her accented tongue. The grin that had graced Rift's features previously came rushing back, the presence of his family heartening his resolve and helping ease the anxiety that had began to nibble at his heart. "Hello, friends. It is good to finally meet you, Badger, and wonderful to see you two again, Laedere." The sorrel lad nodded absently and motioned with his nose toward the alicorn guest, "This is Auriel, we have just met and she seems very kind."

@Badger RE: SPIDERSONG [Patrol] - Badger - 12-19-2015 The familiar figure of Laedere brings a warm smile to my face, and I give her a whicker of greeting. Along with her floating dolphin companion - which had once scared the ever living shit out of me - she was the first face I saw during my second foray into Helovia, and I owe her a lot. Without her, I might not have come to the Throat and been granted with the rank I now hold, nor would I possess the happiness that I currently do, the contentment with my situation. @Laedere RE: SPIDERSONG [Patrol] - Laedere - 12-25-2015
Rift seemed relieved to see the pair of herdmates arrived. Still, Laedere had only managed a nod and a welcome. Ah, so the one before them was Auriel and was apparently nice. She doubted that one could truly gauge niceness off of first meetings. But, still, she knew that they were welcoming strangers into their home in the Threshold daily off of first impressions so she would not judge too much. It was what the leaders wished… even if she couldn't understand how one was a mare and how other mares had the ability to hold such high positions within the ranks. Maybe the leader was of noble blood - the only one left in a long lineage and it was a necessity for that lineage to be continued. She would probably be swollen with child soon anyways, if that was the case. And, should she bear a son that son would rule in a few years time. That was the only logical explanation which Laedere could come to. But, still. The point of this venture was not for her to ponder the intricacies of this system which she was being ruled under. The point was to find more information on the lands around them - to inform others if anything strange seemed to be happening to the lands. So, back to the task at hand. Her ears swiveled to focus on the mare's voice - a protector of the World's Edge. Her jaw wants to drop. More mares, in other lands, fighting because they could! What kind of world had she stepped into when she came here. Alas, the mare asks if they were from the Throat and said that Shida was her sister. Laedere's mind spins - meanwhile Ardere could care less and is trying to play with Rift and Badger's manes should they allow it. This mare was Shida's sister? Oh, she could only hope that she didn't act the same way that Shida did. So uncivilized what that mare. "Mineself hath been on but one patrol with this Shida ye speak of," Laedere offers, eyes flickering over toward Badger who had also been happy to see her. He inquires about a foal by the name of Erthe (oh how everyone knows so many more creatures than she… it would have been embarrassing for the mares to not know those whom were nearby in her lands; but here she still couldn't figure out how they wanted the damn customs to work). Badger, thankfully, begins to pull them back to the task at hand - speaking of herbs that the herd might be able to use. Confused, she blinks and stares at him only to realize he is speaking of the plants that were strewn across the lands. Magic, of many sorts, had been used to heal ailments back home. It was magic only held by the top matron, the one who cared for no child, and was conferred with by the leaders of other ranks. She was said to have the most intelligence, but had no power to make final decisions. She only offered suggestions and healed any who she deemed needed to stay alive longer than nature would have allowed. Carefully, she shuffled her limbs - eyes looking over the different plants before turning to Badger, "What would ye wish for mineself to gather?" she inquired - having no clue where to begin, or what even was going to serve some kind of medicinal purpose. ;-; Should speed up now D: @Rift they say the good die young but they never really tell you that they never die alone |
